Desperate Half-Life fans mail crowbars to Valve, write essays on Hitler

Well, the Steam podcast is our closest source to Valve for us mere mortals.
Unfortunately the "OMG my source told me they are actively planting hints about HL!" tweet turned out to actually mean "I actually don't have any source. I have been told by some guy (leveraged) that he has a source and that this is what's happening"...

True, but apart from the Portal 2 ARG, Valve has made a point of keeping them at arm's length.

You guys are seriously overreacting.

We are all guaranteed Half Life 3; it's only a matter of when. True, "when" might be farther away than some of us would like, but things could be worse. Much worse. You could be looking for sailors.

I'm looking forward to playing HL3 in my new cyborg body.

I can't wait to see what new industry standards Valve decides to set with HL3. It's still kinda sad that a lot of companies still haven't even surpassed some of the standards set in HL2.

HL3 isn't coming until next-gen consoles at the very least. They're probably waiting until then so that they don't have to dumb down the visuals/performance as much. They can make the PC version they want to make and then tweak things from there for xbox 720/PS4.

This thread was hilarious though. I do kind of hate Valve for doing everything except Half Life but whatever, I've gotten used to it now. All we can do is wait. If they do Left 4 Dead 3 before HL3 however I'll fucking snap.

I really hope those anecdotes about Valve looking into adding elements for gamers who are visually and aurally-impaired are actually added into the gameplay somehow. Like Gordon gets hit by enemy fire and his hearing or vision are impaired for while and you have to navigate the world based on that feedback.

I feel Valve itself has lost interest in Half Life and will never revisit it themselves. Maybe they will let some third party develop a new HL game.

That might be the truth for the oldtimers, but it's hard to believe that from all those new people they hire every year, nobody has an interest to work on the company's flagship IP.

I know if I was a Valve fan ( well I am :P ), and they hired me, I would like to work on it!

They said this is why they moved on to other stuff after HL2 and the episodes I think. That's fine and all but now they did a bunch of other games it's time to come back to the meat and potatoes >=( For me Valve = Half Life. Everything else they make are nice diversions until the real king comes back.

An essay on Hitler

The issues involving Hitler has been a popular topic amongst scholars for many years. At one stage or another, every man woman or child will be faced with the issue of Hitler. Indispensable to homosapians today, it is impossible to overestimate its impact on modern thought. The juxtapositioning of Hitler with fundamental economic, social and political strategic conflict draws criticism from the over 50, who form the last great hope for our civilzation. Keeping all of this in mind, in this essay I will examine the major issues.

Social Factors

Society is a simple word with a very complex definition. When J H Darcy said 'fevour will spread' [1] she was clearly refering to the impact of Hitler on today's society. No symbol is more potent than Hitler in society today. It smells of success.

Some analysts have been tempted to disregard Hitler. I haven’t. Clearly it promotes higher individualism and obeyence of instinct. As soon as a child meets Hitler they are changed.

Economic Factors

Is unemployment inherently bad for an economy? Yes. We will begin by looking at the Lead-a-Duck-to-Water model using the median instead of the mean, where possible.
Market
Value
Of
Gold

Hitler

There are a number of reasons which may be attributed to this unquestionable correlation. Even a child could work out that the market value of gold will eventually break free from the powerful influence of Hitler, but not before we see a standardised commercial policy for all. What it all comes down to is money. Capitalists love Hitler.

Political Factors

Politics, we all agree, is a fact of life. Politicians find it difficult to choose between what has become known in politics as - 'The two ways' - pre and post war views of Hitler.

It is always enlightening to consider the words of style icon Demetrius H. Amster 'You can lead a horse to water, big deal.' [2] This clearly illustrates the primary concern of those involved with Hitler. Both spectacular failure and unequaled political accomplishment may be accredited to Hitler.
One thing's certain. The Human species liberally desires Hitler, and what's more human than politics?

Conclusion

To reiterate, Hitler has played a large part in the development of man in the 20th Century and its influence remains strong. It fills a hole, provides financial security and statistically it's great.

What a great essay. Finally a word from super-star Denzel Poppins: 'I love Hitler? Yes! Hurray for Hitler!' [3]

Exactly. They'll burn out on evil AI's, infected and hats eventually. And then the free man will make his return known.

If you thought HL fans had lost their minds...you're right!

I'm starting to think this could be the most brilliant subtle marketing campaign ever and all of these people stirring this up actually work for Valve.

I think the Operation Crowbar is kinda cool. But it won't accomplish anything. The good thing about Valve is that they are so light hearted and easy going they'd appreciate all those crowbars from their fans. They will probably dedicate an office to them at some point to show off on their tours. I can see most other companies getting really annoyed.

Just imagine all the crowbars sent to BioWare post-Dragon Age 2. :p

valve are not, to my knowledge interested in carrying on the adventures of a character Gearbox invented.

He existed solely to ensure that Black Mesa was destroyed completely and utterly so that fans couldn't beg for us to go back their in a creatively bankrupt segment of game.

I'm all for sending crowbars! After those 2 Canadian protesters sat in front of Valve HQ, Gabe didn't rule out the possibility of saying something if there were enough people who spoke out.

Swamping Valve with crowbars is a start.

I think it's silly to imagine Valve has actually lost any interest in Half-Life. It'd be like suggesting Blizzard lost interest in Starcraft because Starcraft 2 took so long to come out. Even in a purely economic sense - Valve knows Half-Life 3 will sell bajillions.

Plus, Half-Life isn't a one-off game. It has become worked into an ongoing universe for their other products that has persistence.

I'm quite tempted to join in on the whole crowbar thing. Valve needs to see how fucking desperate we our.

GIVE ME SOMETHING VALVE!!!!

I think I'm gonna join in the crowbar operation. It's only 8 bucks, it'll be fun. Although I wish I could make my own out of cardboard or something and send that.
