Im currently learning Russian at university.
I might be doing a student exchange in Moscow Universit in my final year :D
If I do that exchange, the Russia I see might be the nice parts of Russia. But I am still really interested in the other places as well. That grey, sombre , 80s architecture style of Russia actually fasinates me. However, as I will be visiting I always know that I can go back home. If I lived there then I could see it being depressing. But then again, where I live some people might find it depressing as well at the moment (earthquakes!)
Came accross this video in the related vids

:(
Really want to help these kids. Vid from 2002, so I wonder if the problem is less or more now.

She looks at him as if she's fallen in love when he gropes her, like it's the sweetest thing that's ever happened to her. She clearly has a horrible, dark history in regards to relations with men. Russia... *shudders*

Russian girls are very beautiful and abundant. More females than males in Russia.

Girls.

Not women. Every Russian woman I've known or seen over the age of 45 is fat and has short hair.

EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.

And I say this having lived in a Russian neighborhood my entire life and having many Russian friends.

Holy christballs. Look at those flaming torches flying in the crowds. Russia is fucking cold and desolate in a lot of places.

I once got in a bar fight in a small town outside of St. Petersburg because these assholes didn't like the way we looked. Also because we wouldn't drink with them. Bored locals who have nothing to do but harass newcomers = an ugly time in Russia.

St Petersburg is gorgeous though and if you go to the right parts, it is rather pleasant. The people can be friendly too. Drinking vodka with them helps.

A lot of places outside of larger cities are like this:

one of the like 6 she's posted today alone. If she lived in a civilised country she'd have gotten help after the first dozen, she's on the tens of thousands, getting on for 100k videos.

I really want to know what she's going on about in these videos. Maybe she's been kidnapped and we don't even know it?! Maybe she managed to upload all 100+ videos as a way to seek help? maybe...

I have been to a lot of countries and seen about 25% of the US, and yes Ohio ranks as one of the most depressing places. It's just... sad. But I have been stuck here for years and it's tough to disentangle how objectively bad it is from my personal bias against it. And as depressing as, say, Cleveland is, southern towns like Martins Ferry and its neighbors are absolutely bleak.

The worst place I have ever been is probably Gary, Indiana.

There's even a city named Sandusky
There is, that much is true.

Sandusky has Cedar Point though, which is a huge high point, and probably the most worthwhile thing in the state.

The Top Thrill Dragster is the closest most Ohioans will get to heaven.

having lived there i wouldn't say it's the most depressing but if you're not a loud club frequenting brute or a mouth breathing, wagon jumping canucks fan then there isn't much to do. the women are also very garbage. pretty, but i would never want to settle with one of those inconsistent pyschos. self-entitled and whorish would be my two best descriptors, among a plethora of negative things i'd have to say.

in regards to russia, a lot of the problem stems from the cold war. a lot of the parents are incredibly strict and try to break their children into obedience. this causes the offspring to develop erratic personalities. that's only saying one thing about russian society though.

everyone there is to themselves and paranoid because back in the day (and much to a degree now) there was so much gang violence and corruption that you were almost always at risk. and if you tried to help someone? well, you may be blamed for whatever happened or even get stuck with the medical bills.

ive had a few russian friends who described to me a slew of social problems russia has. really what ive said doesn't come close to describing the tip of the iceberg.

these days if a meet a russian with their "old world" kind of mentality (or related to anyone of that kind of mentality) i steer way clear. i haven't had the most pleasant experiences with those people.

Seriously? People are hating on Vancouver?
I LOVED Van when I lived there, might move back there at the end of the season. I completely disagree about the club douche/canucks fan comment. I'm niether of those and I had a blast while living there. Awesome skate scene, amazing places to bike (in town or in north van and the mtns) Ocean right there, nice pleasant vibe from most people, dope was fantastic and plentiful, and the cherry blossoms turning the entire city pink and white during spring was incredible.

plenty of schizophrenics and other people with mental illnesses walk the streets untreated in America and across Europe.

There was a homeless guy who used to breakdance outside a dollar store about fifteen minutes away from me, seven days a week, and used to yell at passing cars that he was Elvis' son.

Hahaha. As that one guy said in that one movie, "I love high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age." So, you know, run with that philosophy.

It's a well-known phenomenon that when a devushka hits the age of 40 she turns into a saggy, potato-faced babushka.
