I only put few pictures so far, but this one just blew me away with the colors. It just looks amazing.

Gravity Rush is just so good. I just can't wait for the full game.

Tried using near when I was out today and it registered me at some location in Illinois. So I travelled over 1100 miles today. :p

Hmm... May be it's using WiFi to grab you location ? Your screen says "No Sim" but mine has the AT&T 3G logo and signal bar even though I have not subscribed to 3G yet.

When you first hit the far left icon "Out and About" it will take you to a new screen. Hit the Near button on the upper right to refresh/update. On that same screen you'll see a bunch of horizontal panels i.e. "Topping ther charts for number of people" (mine shows 32 people playing nearby). Just hit that top panel and it will take you to the radial map.

Thanks - I'll give this a shot over lunch.

Yup. Amazon will be sending it on Wednesday. I was going to get it at Target during their deal, but there are 3 other games I want, so I'm happy paying full price for it.

I certainly have to put that in on my list--Japanese craziness at it's finest. It'll probably be the last game I get since Gravity Rush comes out quite a bit later on.

I love that I am having such a hard time choosing which game(s) to buy at launch, but seriously, I am having such a hard time deciding which game to buy at launch.

If I buy a 3G launch model at Best Buy, it sounds like I get a free PSN game voucher. I assume I could use that for Stardust. After that, my interests seem to focus on Lumines, Hot Shots, Rayman, FIFA, Unchartec, Wipeout, and Sigma. I also will buy MLB day one. Ugh.

I wish the European VITA Store would be live as happens with the US one, I want to buy games :(

yup. still a lot psp and psone games missing. I want to buy Castlevania but it does not exist for us europeans :(

I may use that bestbuy psn cards thing and use my US account as the main one for vita. But i don't know if dlc is locked for games as it happens with ps3 so don't know what to do.

The game you get for signing up for 3G is Stardust so you don't really have a choice there.

Yeah, it was actually hooked up to my phone's 3G at the time. I'm having issues with the SIM card but I'm hoping it's the same problem TwIsTeD had and I'm hoping it'll fix itself. I'll give it until the actual launch date before I start to worry though.

so my vita says no SIM even thought the at&t sim is inserted correctly, thoughts?

At first my Vita said no SIM and I was getting worried... well it seems at&t just activated a new batch of sim cards..my system randomly said at&t and then asked for a restart and voila working 3g!

The US 3G voucher can only be used on Stardust and nothing else so yeah, dont buy that one.
The other games you list are exactly what I want too. I already own Wipeout and HSG. I might end up with the rest from that Target deal.

I was actually pretty impressed by how quickly it connected and how easy it was to set up. I just don't like browsing my media on the Vita as videos are missing and it's challenging sorting through a very large music collection on the device.

Yes, I think they should improve the content exchange process more. I got an unknown error while syncing an old freebie PSN movie over. The error message is too cryptic.

The transfer speed is also too slow.

I like how Vita will tell you whether the files you want to copy are Vita-compatible first though. Save time that way.

Also you can transfer PSN purchased and rental videos between PS3 and Vita.

If my opinion helps, WipEout and Stardust are the two must-haves at launch, no matter what. Get Uncharted if you're a fan of the series; it's worth it then. Rayman is a must-have if you don't have or don't want the console versions (no multiplayer is a deal-breaker for me but I will recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind playing single-player; the game is amazing). Hot Shots is good but not a step up or anything from the PS3 game.

The 3G voucher IS for Stardust + the DLC, but you will have to wait 30 days to get it. Not worth it in my opinion as Stardust is a day-1 must-have title in my opinion.

I gotta say... the touchscreen is extremely good. I mean, easily one of the best I've ever used or seen. It is so extremely responsive, I have never had to double tap or anything. As a matter of fact, I was barely even touching the screen at all and it was registering every single time. Seriously, there were times where I couldn't even feel the screen and it was accept all of it. Immediate response, even with a full line up of running applications.

So good, Sony. So good.

I tried searching and couldn't find anyone mentioning this, so here goes:

After about 10 minuets of play the left side of my screen starts acting up, and registering random presses. After about 20 minuets, i can't even select anything for about an inch from the left side. After rebooting however, it seems to work fine, and is fully responsive, until it starts to act up again.

Should I take it back and get it replaced? I'll probably have to wait until the 22nd for them to get more stock though, so if it's a firmware bug or something I don't want to have to wait for no reason.

Thanks in advance!

Try a Hard Reset first. Press and hold down the power button for 20 or so seconds.

Well, I stayed up entirely too late playing around with my Vita. The FEB case still stinks, but I am guessing that the smell will fade with time. My wife says it smells like a wet dog with burnt fur. I don't know how to describe the odor, but it's, uh, unpleasant. It's strong too.

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
God yes. I love the design of the OS even if it's not flawless, but this is far and away the very best device to EVER come out of Sony's gaming division. This is the new bar for them.
Yeah, the OS is not without flaws, but it feels new and fun to use, and it's very intuitive. I didn't stumble anywhere even a single time when I started using it, which is definitely not something I can say for the first time I used Android.

Things I'd correct:
- Merge Friends, Party and Messaging apps into one.
- Have more persistent network/PSN connection so it doesn't have to log in from time to time (it's quick but still)
- Have the option to auto-start the app you pressed from the home screen. There's something in settings about this, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I know why they've done it the way they did, it lets you do relevant things other than just starting, but I still want this auto start option, I can do other things upon exiting the app if I chose to.
- Use antialiasing on bubbles.

Things I love:
The feel of the UI. Elasticness is *just right*. 60FPS 99% of the time
The store is really great, well organized, fun to browse, makes great use of touch based UI. I actually prefer it over literally ANY console or mobile device store I can think of.

Also, browser is quite good. The zooming feels right, which really surprised me as that's usually the weakest spot in the mobile browsers. Too bad games have to close when the browser is running.

Yep, get that game everyone, you'll feel good about owning Vita once you play it, trust me.

Rayman on Vita is amazing.

Looks at least as nice at my 55" plasma. Controls better than my Xbox 360's poor d-pad.

My game of the launch so far.

Question: I want to be able to charge this thing at work and not carry a cord with me. What do I buy? Do the official AC adapters not come with the USB-vita cable!?

I found it a little weird for Uncharted. The machete slash wasn't as responsive as i'd like. But the system software is incredible. It's almost eerie how smoothly widgets track with your finger.

Seeing all the Near talk I am a little jealous that we don't get to even try it here in Canada. Once again the Canadian telecoms and CRTC cause more harm to consumers than benefit...

It seems like a neat feature but at this point I still don't see the value in paying for a 3G data service. I'm sure there's plenty more to come though.

I've only played the Uncharted demo (Amazon.ca doesn't ship until the 22nd for some fucking reason), but I defiantly agree that the slash wasn't as quick to respond as other things, I almost think that's on Bend's end of things though and not Sony's.

Yeah, they should let you choose which apps run on startup. I wouldn't mind a slightly longer initial boot-up time if I could get the friends list and messaging apps running off the bat.

Near works with WiFi too.

does vita sync automatically or you have to do it manually like on ps3?

I'd also like XMB to be available (optionally) as i think it's almost perfect and minimalist.

I don't necessary want XMB on Vita but I would <3 to have a touch-based RemotePlay UI to control PS3 !

I played with RemotePlay a little yesterday. Kept trying to swipe in XMB. ^_^

I've been using it.
In fact, just last night some random guy messaged me because he found me on near. We're now like the bestest PSN friends ever.

Though on a side note, I turned off ID and location sharing stuff. So I don't know why he still found me.

You'll still get it, just not with 3G/GPS. Wifi-based location services aren't great, but should be 'good enough' in metro areas.

Near works fine in Canada. You just need Wi-Fi access. If you have an iPhone or Android phone, you should be able to set up a Wi-Fi hotspot.

And really, if you were willing to pay $25 for a PSP data plan and don't already have a smart phone with a dataplan, you really should get one.

It's likely the adhesive they used. They put it together, zipped it up and threw it in plastic. It will fade in time.

They should have used what some use in guitar cases. Nothing like case candy ;)

Personally I'm going to just use my cell phone's data plan. Rogers is pretty good about letting you use your phone as a wifi hotspot, so the additional cost for a 3G Vita is unnecessary IMO.

Next morning, fart case is still fart case.

Crystal case FTW. Last pic is blurry due me moving the phone at last second lol.

Super happy this is the case I've pre-ordered on Amazon UK. The Thrustmaster "glasses case" is nice, but it's not functional (can't hold any games/memory cards) and costs £2 more.

By the way, is the case hard plastic? Is it durable? From the pictures it looks like it may crack quite easily IF it is hard plastic.

oh that's a great idea, someone should tweet yoshida about that :)
I can see this happening in a few games that may allow being controlled by vita instead of DS3
