If this game comes out for both systems in the US, I'll have to carefully decide which to get by comparing exclusive features. Street/spotpass vs Trophies/Near, etc.
Having both handhelds kinda complicates things a bit.
I just see "qHD with 4xAA on an OLED screen" in one column and any further need for comparison is obviated.

It's as "hard" as deciding between the PC and console version of a game ;)

I rolled with the Vita version because of how damn beautiful it looks on the screen + better audio on the Vita.

If you have a 3DS only, you'll be getting 3D and bottom touch screen so that's something to consider as well.

I played the first hour last night and got stuck at the first puzzle for a little bit. Why you ask?

I was playing while in bed at night, and as I was stuck and wondering why I couldn't figure this damn easy puzzle out I realized that I was fading in and out of sleep, meaning I had no coherent memory of what I last did. Lol fail. Sat up and beat it promptly.

Good stuff so far. I'm a big fan of the characters so far (Sigma's noises of disapproval are hilarious), and the whole thing just feels great. Story hasn't really started yet, so to speak, but I imagine I'm probably a dialogue box away from getting into the thick of things.

Also: Akselziys is such a tease.

Haha, so forward! *blush*

All I know is that Nintendo Power will be talking about some game in the issue that comes out on 2/28 :)

However, I have no idea what that game might be
or do I ?

Though it might not be what you're thinking >.<
or is it? :O?

Hopefully that "tease" was sufficient :)

Hmm maybe you're right. That does sound better
But I never buy 3rd party PC games :p

The NEXT MONTH preview in the last issue of Nintendo Power mentioned a few surprises in this next issue, "including one that's the stuff dreams are made of." Hopefully I missed something about GPD/999 that involved dreams. I really hope DreamDropDistance isn't considered "surprising" in any way.

If this is announced in Nintendo Power I will buy two copies of the magazine. One to keep as is and the other rip apart and frame the page/s with the announcement.

Honestly the only reason I'm not posting images from my copy is because I don't wanna spoil people.

A few interesting gameplay details though; by pressing the down arrow on the d-pad, you can access a 'map' of all the routes. It shows where you are on the route and what you did during each section (Novel vs Puzzle). I checked it before the first major decision and then decided not to check it ever again afterward in the event that it still continued to show me where I was on what route. Don't wanna spoil that for myself.

Vita region free ftw!

If it even gets a Vita release in English. At this point I'm expecting 3DS only. I'm pretty cynical, mind, so feel free to ignore me. And whilst I don't usually like being wrong, in this case I'll make an exception.

I will import it day 1 for Vita.

Ten hours in so far.

So fucking good. I was glued to my Vita for four hours total last night because I couldn't find a proper place to stop without wanting to pick it up again and play more.

Hell, I'm at work right now and all I can think about is how excited I am to go home and play.

This is clearly not good for my health.

Are you saying it's as addicting as 999? That's some awesome news.

Are good people DYING?!?!?

Wait, don't answer that.

10 hours in? How long is the game? Or is that including 2nd playthrough to see other ending etc? I dont remember how long 999 was

You do a lot of hopping between each route in this game (for a variety of reasons I won't spoil). By pressing down on the d-pad (in the Vita version), you can access a map of all the routes and go back to points you've cleared by selecting them. This makes it really easy to go back and see something if you're missing details. I've only completed one route via its bad ending and I've also gotten halfway down another route. The playtime between the two has totaled to 10-ish hours. I'm probably not even a quarter done with the game as far as I can tell, quite frankly.

This sounds so much better than 999. That game annoyed me with how awkward it made the replays.

I should also note that you can fast forward text and it'll automatically stop whenever it reaches a plot point or piece of dialogue you haven't played yet.

Is this game more or less talky than 999? Do you have to make choices more often? In 999 you could spend two hours just reading.

About as talky. It's a lot more pleasant to go through though since all main event stuff is voiced. The only scenes that aren't are the puzzle rooms.

I can't recall if i posted or not.

I went Vita for Japanese version (guffawguffaw but i can only tells what is happening from the pictures and i'll have to invent some dodgy translation as to what is going on guffawguffaw)

but plan to get the western 3DS version given i have the DS 999 in english.

Need to get my finger out - got a very very long holiday coming up, might just go missing for 2.5 weeks and play this stuff.

I imagine it will be hard to get the Vita version over here unless it manages to get a sizable user-base despite all the negative outlooks for it. At least the 3DS version seems guaranteed and shouldn't be too much of a visual downgrade, if REvelations was anything to go by which is no visual slouch at all.
