Most of it sounds great. Too bad for the DLC items though, but I must admit I don't remember using character customization a lot in VF games. It was fun to unlock them in VF5, but the default outfits are good enough, probably even better.
Hah.
Nobody buy any DLC costumes okay?
This is all great. I might not love the DLC idea, but whatever, I am going to buy it all anyway.
My important question is....do you think it will have those cute intro movies I see in youtube videos of arcade matches of the characters dancing around?
Is there any specific resource to get a good basic glance at the gameplay system / beginner advice for this game?
You can maybe pick up VF4 Evo for cheap and go through the training mode. A lot of the stuff would probably still apply. Even VF5 wouldn't be bad if it is your first 3d fighting game ever.
I wouldn't really recommend a site or a FAQ. Best way to learn is hands on.
I am actually happy that Customizable Clothes will be separate DLC.
I hate fighting against ugly customized characters and rather play against design-intended looking characters
indeed. those weird SFIV costumes are ridiculous. glad i bailed. now i wouldn' care if VF is on the same level.
SFIV's alternate costumes are weird because most of the cast has a (in some cases) near 20 year old legacy of a certain costume. It's not quite the same thing in VF, the characters were never a thing like that.
Oddly enough as a grizzled old dad gamer I find that I'm actually getting into fighters for the first time in my life. Sure you have to put in a ton of time to be good, but I'm ok with being crappy and I can easily bang out a couple of quick rounds unlike longer story based games that I don't really have the time for anymore. So I'm thinking that with the glowing reviews and download price I'm actually going to make this the first 3D fighter that I try. I'm excited, it's kinda fun getting into a genre for the first time and getting to try out all the big series. I just hope that there are some other newish players jumping in as well. I really don't mind getting crushed (3rd Strike: OE was like that for me) but I obviously prefer to have at least a few equal battles online.

I like how some of the "hardcore" fighting game people that complain about DLC in fighting games are upset that you need to pay for extra costumes. Unless I missed something and adding a costume changes some frame properties.
And for the record, I hate DLC in fighting games. But costumes definitely fall under the banner of "who cares?"

Huh? Most of the characters in VF have retained their original VF1 costumes! They've just been slightly tweaked to match the improved technology.
Yeah, must have taken months and months of r&d to develop this god of a stick. Too sad it's tailored to VF and cannot be used with other games. Now we have the joystick

Yeeeeah, but they were so simple and undetailed back in VF1 and 2 that they were never a huge definitive thing for each of the characters - unlike Ryu and Ken's gi, Chun Li's dress thing... No one really cares about Akira wearing his standard white karate gi. Just like in Soul Calibur, no one actually gives much of a shit about Mitsu's standard costume, for example.
Costume DLC is one of the DLC types hardcore gamers love.
It doesn't in VF5. It's all purely cosmetic.Costume DLC is fine as long as it doesn't fuck with hitboxes/hurtboxes (I'm looking at you SF4!)
I don't think hardcore fighting gamers care about costumes.
If the DLC doesn't affect gameplay (new characters, moves), then it's optional to buy, and competitive gamers would just shrug their shoulders.
But I do see what you're saying, I think we're just coming from two different viewpoints.
I will buy a Vita if they do it!
Spooky said VF will be streamed on Saturday.

Will tune in.
Well, the top players from VA and the NYC VF crew are here. I'm holding my SEGA flag. I got to play 12hrs straight of this game, and the changes are no joke, fo'real. Is so dramatic, I have to relearned the whole game and change my playstyle. And plus, SEGA is listening to the fans, no bullshit(I'll post more details about this as well). The U.S. producer(The Asian guy with glasses on the far right, Frank) is even asking us questions and stuff. Oh, and they really want to meet Markman When I saw Markman, I told him about it, and he's down and got ideas (Fingers cross for VSHG). Let's see how that goes...Anyway, here's the pic. I'll post more details soon.
Things you guys should know. You could button check by pressing back(360) or select(PS3) on the character select screen. It shows presets and input data of your actual stick Replays could be saved offline and online. Achievements are typical XBL and PSN requirements. They're going to talk to SEGA Of Japan about the DLC concerns. I told them they should do what CAPCOM does with SFIV. If you didn't buy the outfit, you could DL the data anyway, so you could see your opponent rock his outfit.
They have the 360 version, and the PS3 version here. We're playing on HORI's RAP sticks, and EVO monitors. VF5R stages are under consideration as well for DLC. Oh, and this game needs to do well in order for VF6 to come out. The console version of Final Showdown was being worked on for almost two years. AM2 was going back and forth with the console version and the Arcade, and plus, they were working on the 360 and PS3 version at the same time, crazy. They wanted to make sure both version look the same, and sound the same, and it shows. That's one of the reason we didn't get VF5R, AM2 is not big enough to handle such a task, and two. They rather handle the ports themselves. And the NETCODE is an improved version of the previous one. Is being worked on by the Daytona USA, and VirtuaON Team. I'll post more info soon. Time to play some games.

So much beautiful in this post.
Any chance of VF.TV/.net integration?
One, didn't know you are a GAFFER, and two. SEGA is revamping the whole network, so no. But don't be surprise that you'll see it on a future VF title on console.
oh dear
This will be up on virtuafighter.com soon (site is down) but here's the breakdown of the recently launched page:
Online Mode: up to 8 players, spectator mode included. Traditional options for room size, region, as well as to allow playable Dural
Customizable costumes: Because VF5FS is close to the maximum size allowed for DLC games, all items other than the defaults are not included in the game and are sold as DLC. Items will be sold separately and in packs.
Training: Options for throw escapes, evades, rising attacks/speed and struggle from guard breaks.
Replays: You can save offline AND online matches. Frame data, etc. will be included
License Mode: Tons of challenges as you fight the CPU. There's stuff like "all moves can be canceled", "half weight gravity" and "opponent health doubled", etc. Clear a challenge and get a special license.
Button configuration: You can set up the controller at the character select screen, and there's also a "button check" option too so you can check to make sure your buttons are properly configured and working!
Virtua Fighter: Giving hardcore fighting game fans what they want even if they ignore the fuck out of the series.
At $24.99 they can give us the fucking costume accessories.Remember, the game is going to be fairly cheap. 14.99-19.99$ Buuuutttttttt SEGA is still working on pricing. They're trying to get the most out of their product. I believe the game might go for 24.99$
so the Xbox 360 version has the DLC items as extras while the PS3 version comes with all the DLC items right?
