As an Air Bender, I'm miffed that we don't get any specific derivatives.

Fire benders can Lightning bend, Earth benders can metal bend, and water benders can blood bend.

:(

Air benders have other special abilities:

I imagine airbending could be pretty deadly, sucking the oxygen out of someone's lungs, or their immediate area. By nature and the way they're raised though, I would think that sort of force would be looked down upon.

Well this is a kids show and in general I agree with the saying that too much magic ruins a fantasy so I'm a big fan of limited bending abilities. I think blood bending should mostly be forgotten about, it was a cool thing but only a select few can do it. Airbending should be what it is and no cutting off people's air supply.

man wtf is up with that son? Looks like some Rugrat.

A lot of whitty writing in this.

Master airbender is pretty awesome.

wtf is up with the budget for this show?

What do you mean?

I am 100% positive that kitara has never used blood bending since, and will never ever teach it to anyone

Have there been any hints about an episode about what happened to Azula after she lost to Zuko and Katara? She went to a mental health facility, but I think it would be interesting to see what happened to her in there and if she ever got to the point of being able to live a functional life in the world (though that would probably need to have Aang Energybend her and that could be too dangerous to do)

idk... this pilot feels like it got the budget of a movie animation.

I think that will be in the comics. Aang probably can't energy bend so easily, I think his life is at risk every time he takes someone's bending away.

That's like a lot of TV shows actually. The pilot/beginning and the finale typically use up the most of the budget. Sometimes this really hurts the in-between but I doubt that would happen with Mike and Brian in charge.

Really? Why?

Something about having a stronger resolve. That's what almost happened to Aang when he did it to Ozai. That's why his "spirit" was almost entirely engulfed by the Fire Lord's. Aang almost "lost".

Really? I didn't even notice that. Could you give me an example? I want to see it for myself.

I noticed a few facial drawings not as detailed. I would have to rewatch but I can try and do that later today(like in the afternoon, it's 2 am here).

wait why poor bumi? you have to remember that bryek and company dont fuck around with anyone. There where plenty of nonbenders who kicked ass in the old series.

EDIT: LET THE CONSPIRACY GAMES

BEGIN

DOUBLE EDIT: werent people talking about tenzin being white?

BAM

Looks like I missed out on the first two episodes. When will I be able to see them again? In the meantime, perhaps I should watch Avatar: The Last Airbender for the first time...

Because "bending is the coolest thing in the world."

I was expecting Aang and Katara's kids to look a lot more normal. Tenzin is white while Kya and Bumi are darker like their mother, I guess that is just random. Oh and Bumi is Amon obviously. Being the son of a famous father fucked with his head.

My brother kept bugging me to watch this but I told him not after The first one

Anyway I'm really into the series now after season 1 finale. I used to dismiss this series as a American Wannabe Anime. Toph first fight scene... Damn awesome? Good humor too

I think you may be onto something.

i dont think they will go the obvious route like that.

Its really possible but i think that would be disappointing if it does go that route tbh :(

Nah.

Amon is Bumi's son probably.

Anyway, since seeing the new episodes I decided to pick up The Promise graphic novel. I thought it was actually pretty good, but kind of short. Seeing Aang and Katara call each other sweetie while grossing out Sokka and Toph is hilarious. Zuko still struggling with his bloodline and duty and his own convictions makes for some good material. It's just kind of nice seeing how not every thing has been cleaned up after the events of the first series. Really wish it didn't end on a cliffhanger.
