Was wondering what would happen if this doesn't hit 21 million

But instead stops short at 20 million

What happens to be fans donate then ...

Brian get the extra $300,000 but no Obsidian and Chris...

I recognize Ron Perlman and I think I saw Jim Cummings somewhere.

edit: lol, people are so up in arms. The only games where VA is outstanding are
GTA IV + episodes
Red Dead Redemption
Bioshock
Vampires Masquerade Bloodlines
Uncharted is good too, but not outstanding. Outstanding = could be in some great movie.

Schafer's games.

+
Broken Sword series.
Disgaea series.
MGS series.
Bastion.
Blade Runner.
Longest Journey
ect ect.

It's a trade off, for a small budget choice based RPG (hate that that's something that needs to be clarified nowadays) then no VA makes sense, but but VA has made a lot of games what they were.

First of all, I think you're missing a decimal point there. :p

Secondly, the likelihood of this not reaching $2.1 mill is vanishingly small. Since Avellone's involvement was announced, funding has increased by 200k.

Every hour above 0,6k gets us comfortably closer to the goal.

They can speed up the process with video updates and more info released, i.e. through interviews, especially as far as Obsidian's actual involvement.

But they're basically good to go. When you include the Paypal money, they're only roughly 25k from $1.9 million as of now. And they've still got 15 days to make the rest, which should be more than enough. They'd make it even if it reverted to pre-Avellone funding growth.

Yupyup. I don't have any worries about that, but I still want them to make more updates on something :p

Wow, the last hour was the first hour I see with 0$ funding:

it didn't have 0. I just looked at the page then, and someone probably one of the pledges in the thousands had been pulled, it rolled back around 2k when I looked. but maybe it was one of the 5k pledges. edit: hehe it also says -3,988 on the pic

I think someone withdrew a $5000 pledge. I refreshed it earlier and the total was down ~$4000 from the previous amount.
edit: yeah ok. seems so

Unfortunately it seems like the news only produced a spike and not a sustained increase. The good thing is that even at only 20k a day it should reach 2.1M, and that's without the usual spike at the end. I don't think it'll hit 2.5M but something like 2.3M might be possible.

After the initial optimistic boost, the contributions have stalled again. It's definitely not going to hit 2.1 million by Monday like I expected. :(

Guess there aren't that many Obsidian fans around after all. Figures. Sigh.

I hope the end spike will be enough.

Or they don't do any interviews. Obidian is silent since anouncment. It's weird.

Yeah, I'd say that's pretty good. I wasn't sure how well this one would do compared to Double Fine's, but it surprised me.

Obsidian fans probably donated when it started (I know I did), not everyone has the possibility to pay even more than that (I know I don't).

Maybe they're all holding out for Avellone's solo project?

1.) I don't think many of the major outlets have reported the update.
2.) I'd like to imagine that Fargo & Avellone fans are one and the same.

While it won't hit by Monday, I'm sure with more exposure, they'll exceed their target.

They need $220kish (factoring in Paypal as well as KS)

I'm expecting the end spike to be several hundred thousand. And that's two weeks away. While it's not exactly set in *stone*, I think it's pretty safe.

edit2: oh and I forgot Schafer's games. They really had outstanding VA.

Bloodlines is better than GTA IV in the VA department. Also had better writing backing it.

Come at me, bro.

One thing that would help is if Brian updated the kickstarter page with interviews and other short video material. Tim was doing that fairly often for the Double Fine Adventure kickstarter.

What astounds me is that Fallout NV was a huge multimillion seller and yet it appears that no one knows that it was made by Obsidian. Also, is the adventure genre more popular than a hardcore CRPG? Was that the case when these type of games were in their glory days? I would have imagined that all people who enjoyed the first Fallouts, Planescape Torment would support this kickstarter. Are there really only 30k+ of us who want these type of games? I hope not.

Could be that a lot of people pledged too much money on DFA, and now they don't have as much money. It has only been a month since then after all.

Tim Shafer is also a very charismatic guy. No one can say no to him.

I won't compare writing because every game is cheesy in its own enjoyable way, but GTA had more expressive and more natural VA. May be that's because of the way it was produced and tech limitations of various sorts which Bloodlines tech had. For example Jennifer Hale couldn't improvise in Mass Effect at all because she had to say all her lines under very strict time limitations. Not shorter, not longer but in the exact time. As I understand Rockstar shot their actors in real time so they don't have that kind of limitations. I don't know if it was the case during GTA IV but Max Payne is shot real-time and I'm sure that RDR was shot this way too.

Anyway, we are derailing the thread. The point is that I would prefer if they limit VA to combat sounds and UI sounds.

Anyway, there were a lot of stellar performances in the game (the Prince was impressive, too).
Pointing the flaws in a couple of very minor characters sounds unfair.

You're right. Still, this guy is burned into my memory as one of the worst VA ever.

Bloodlines is in my personal top five, so when I'm knocking the game, it's purely in jest :)

On topic: I can't believe Obsidian's involvement would turn some people off. Crazy.

Looks like the 'Obsidian effect' on funding lasted all of 3 days before it settled down to normal levels again. I wouldn't be too worried though... they're pretty close to their goal and I'm sure they will cross it by the end.
