I meant NPD numbers since they stopped making numbers public.

It's like they write 12 PR statements, put them in a hat, and pick one out every month.

So I'm guessing that's over 100k for Kid Icarus Uprising, but probably under 150k.
Hope it has legs.



It only had one week on the chart. If it had come out earlier in the month it certainly would have charted. I think it bodes well. The game is AAA quality, I don't think it'll have a problem reaching a million worldwide.

Are you able to confirm whether the 42% figure given by MS is a unit share...

(I.e. is PS3 + Wii = 512K)

...or dollar share? In which case it tells us nothing concrete about the other two.

We go through this every month. It's almost always dollar share.

That was in the glory days. Ever since NPD stopped broadcasting the hardware sales they haven't said shit since (Pacther helped out at first until the heat got to him)

I think it's also a hangover from the way Sony have always marketed themselves and especially the PlayStation.

Being the dominant force in whatever area they are in was used to further push the products as the ones to own. When dominance isn't there they'd rather say nothing than acknowledge there is a rival there.

Same with every company really, just more obvious with Sony because of the stark changes in dominance in the markets are in plus the nature of their advertising which is often still caught up in the glory days. Such as the EU Vita ad.

Mass Effect 2 only sold 246k in its second month, and fell out of the top 20 in its third. Judging from the fact that it was $20 new less than six months after launch on PC (and pretty cheap on consoles), I doubt it had long term legs like Dragon Age: Origins either.

I think that Mass Effect 3 will pretty easily become the highest selling entry in the series, even if it is really front loaded.

I highly doubt that, and I'm one of the extreme bearish ones.

I'm with him. I don't think it's really doing any better than in Japan.

And someone posted an interesting fact in this week's Media Chart thread:

Vita week 1: 324,859

Vita weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17: 326,562

I really don't see any reason to think it's going to do any better in the US (once the low lying fruit was grabbed during the first week). Just don't think the western centric software is going to do much better in the US selling systems. None of it's killer apps.

I agree with the bold since there were times when the PS3 did well enough but since it didn't beat MS for the month they say nothing.

Either Patrick moved to a new position , they have multiple Senior Directors or he's gone
 
Sony will rise again.

They need all the King's horses and all the King's men at this point. They've been consolidating divisions for a decade and still don't really appear closer to putting it together and functioning really well than they did when they first started this process so long ago.

Happy for Kid Icarus doing good, hopefully it has legs and continues to sell strong.

Regarding the Vita, if Sony doesn't announce Call of Duty Vita and another big title like Gran Turismo at E3 they are in big trouble. They need something to save the system and we all know they can't afford to cut the price of the system.
 
That Resident Evil game is trash and the people who get upset about kickstarter should focus their anger on the terrible people buying this game

This is just depressing. Especially when RE:R didn't do so well.

I guess it's good to hear KI did pretty well. Being a revival of a somewhat unknown series I doubt anyone knew what to make of it. Word of mouth has been good though so hopefully that works out for them.

Why would you crush people feelings when we all know the vast majority of the people buying them don't even play games? I honestly couldn't care less about their sales. Irrelevant to me.
because gaf seems hurt by apple's success every time it's brought up. So I didn't want to upset anyone. Pretty considerate if you ask me.

That gif was just Capcom rolling in "Raccoon City money" when everyone else expected a bomb. Obama was in there since i couldn't find the original gif
