Boredom is a feeling. Not sure I need to know that. It's like if he was telling me he was horny.
More like trolling. WHere is Halo 4 thread, I want to tell everyone in there that Halo makes me bored and sick to my stomach. For no reason really, just cuz
not to say you are unaware of this, but Smash's first game had Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, and Pikachu.
None of these characters should be considered not-well known or B-Tier (I'll give you Kirby, but just barely)

i never said anything about the PS franchises being less relevant/irrelevant. i actually agree every last bit this guy said:Hes not dumb. What you described above is how you see it. He described it how he sees it. The same way Nintendo fanboys try to make PS characters less relevant. Well in your eyes they are, not in ours. Not that hard to understand really.
As a Nintendo fan since the 80's, Smash Bros was like the realization of, literally, every one of my childhood arguments with friends over Nintendo franchises and characters.
As a PlayStation fan since the PS1 released when I was in high school, this game is like the realization of every one of my young adult (and even adult) arguments with friends over PlayStation franchises and characters.
Is it REALLY that hard for some of you people to wrap your heads around the idea that PlayStation fans have quite the affinity for PS franchises and characters, much like Nintendo fans have quite the affinity for Nintendo franchises and characters?
I mean, FUCK, people.
I'm a huge PlayStation fan. I LOVE Smash Bros. I've been wanting a PlayStation take on Smash Bros so bad that I actually started early development on a 2D, flash based iteration, using handdrawn characters.
This game looks AWESOME, and the more I read about it, the more I see it's not a complete, 1:1 clone of Smash Bros, but it certainly occupies the same genre, of which there are MANY OTHER GAMES that do the crossover fighter route. It really does seem to me that the still trendy "Oh, Sony" mentality is shitting up an announcement that, literally, tons of diehard PlayStation fans have been waiting for.
I guess people take issue with the fact that not everybody is madly in love with Nintendo and their franchise. Please. Most of us have been playing NES games since before some of you were itches in your parent's pants.
This isn't about console wars. It's about fans of series coming together and beating the shit out of each other.
I'll continue to love SSB. I'm hoping PBR will be just as fun, and it's looking like it will be.
im afraid to ask when you started playing video games. certainly nowhere in the nintendo era or before that. if you grew up with nes or anything before nes, you knew these characters period. when the original smash was released they were all well known.Uh.
No. I didn't know who the heck samus was until I played metroid prime. Kirby, I didn't know it was nintendo character until I saw it on smash brothers.
It's not a good idea to use anecdote evidence to call another member dumb.
i am happy too. if the game plays like melee (quick thinking/twitch/skill based) then sony has a definite hit on their hands. i'll be sad that smash is no longer 'king' of the genre any more but that's sakurai's dumb ass fault for making brawl the smelly turd yawnfest that it was.Oh it's a rip-off alright. I just don't think the "sony wagon" really gives a shit all that much. They're just happy to get a similar game to SSB with all their favourite Playstation characters.
well the ps1 was originally nintendo's console which we all know sooo.....Sony has made enough stuff for playstation consoles that nintendo still hasn't replicated from their side or were late to the party. I think they can copy some ideas from nintendo once in a while.
I mean, did people really feel the ps1 was just a n64 copy? The ps2 and ps3 were copies of the gc and wii?
I think you're right; the camera pans down and it looks like the character is wearing a long dress.
On a similar note, does anyone recognize this game?
It's displayed on a monitor right next to the unknown purple dress character.
It's Sandover Village from Jak and Daxter.
Jak and Daxter
Sandover Village from Jak and Daxter, and I think Hot Shots Golf gets mashed in with it.
Thanks lads! Its from jack and daxter with a dash of hot shots golf.
agreed on this, just trying to see what people mean by "read the previews!" all the time
I guess it immediatly makes me think of all the other SSB clones and how bad they were at it.
SSB isnt a golden idea, its the core gameplay that makes it so much fun. The momentum, the movement, the pace, this is all really hard to imitate and judging by the footage ive seen they are way off. It looks terrible to me in the sense that it looks really uninspired where i think this could really work in a different way. Just tackle it in a whole other angle instead of just making SSB.
Each of the six are quite different from one another, with varied play styles that Smash Bros fans will probably feel right at home with. That said, Smash players should not expect an All-Stars character parallel. While this game looks similar, it feels much different.

Here is a quote from Destructoid:
Other previews say similar things. That's why some of us are telling you to read the previews. We aren't trying to say the game isn't very similar to SSB because it does things different. You just seemed like there was no reason for people to be saying to read the previews, and quotes like the above are why.

Man if they hype and controversy remains this high Sony will undoubtedly have a huge hit on their hands. Might save the company, really.
This on Vita would be stunning.
Looks like Fat Princess to me
EDIT: Beaten

Could this possibly be a character from that series?
Could this possibly be a character from that series?
That is your interpretation. There's a real difference between saying that Sony licenses do not justify such a battle game and saying that Sony's franchises are less known than Nintendo's, which they certainly are. Again, I mentioned examples and you will surely not deny that Uncharted is better known than Pokemon. You'll probably find only few people in the non-gaming area that know Uncharted, but a lot that know Pokemon.
:lol
Drop it Salsa, we don't want to lose you again. It's not worth it.
It's Sandover Village from Jak and Daxter.
They've even included the yellow fish that eats you if you stay in the water too long.
lmao, alright
Could this possibly be a character from that series?
No no No. don't listen to him. Go ahead. Let your flame alive.
I want to see meltdown. badly. (brings popcorn)
I guess its hard to convey from a preview when we arent actually playing the game/seeing some more final footage, i'll give them that. Just wish there was a better way to express how does it feel different, wish something good and at least different enough comes out of it
Could this possibly be a character from that series?
and just because you don't know very widespread characters because you've been living in a cave on the moon, it doesn't mean said famous widespread character aren't famous and wide spreadI started playing videogame in Japan, since Final Fantasy 3. I mainly played Rockman and DQ, FF, then moved to PC engine Duo.
And no I really didn't know who the fuck Samus was. I never played original metroid nor super metroid since I didn't even care nor knew about their existence.
Just because you know something doesn't mean rest of the world has to know it. You are not the center of the universe.

oooohhh shit see what i did there? if you wanna slice it that way you're still in the wrong.
ps
how exactly do you know where the center of the universe is located? oh shit, you don't know that either!
haha
They are copying smash brothers. Thats what that wii is for. Also, relax.
No. The other Fat Princess is a brunnete and has a blue dress. If this was FP related it's most likely a new costume
It hurts doesn't it?and just because you don't know very widespread characters because you've been living in a cave on the moon, it doesn't mean said famous widespread character aren't famous and wide spread

BoomThis isn't true. Sonic was in Brawl, and he's been dead for years.

Mario, Link and Pikachu are big, I'll agree on that. However, Samus? Lol Metroid games usually sell okey. Last one sold like crap.
It's just because you like those characters that you think they are HUGE. Well it's same with us PS fans. Something like Parappa reminds us of PS1 days, you know that console that sold 105+ million units.
And when the timer hits 0 he gets hit by a car.
Okay, let's put this into perspective then. You're saying that a Playstation fan service game is justifiable. If that's the case then why repeatedly bring up the fact that no Playstation franchise is as popular as Mario or Pokemon? What's that supposed to prove - that Battle Royale won't sell as many copies as SSBB? Probably, but who gives a shit so long as BR makes a profit and gets the brand recognition out there.
lmao, alright
When comparing the way this game looks, it certainly reminds me the most of SSB. But what should they do? I have no clue how to innovate this genre. They can only add license-specific items/powers I'd guess.
I'm actually on your side but these threads have been a landmine field and it's hard to see where mods are drawing the line. Better not take the risk of a post being taken out of context seeing how fast this thread is growing.
