Anyone find it odd that THOR didn't power up Ironman's suit in the final battle? Correct me if I'm wrong but didnt IM get a power boost when Thor shocked him in the forrest scene?
By the time his suit is running down, he has to catch the missile.

Good film. The Chitauri were boring villains though and didn't interest me.
It was clear the audience were rooting for Hulk though, more than any other character and started going mad with laugher for a minute after he hit Thor.
3D didn't bother me at all. Wasn't dark or offensive in any way. The film only really utilizes the effect in about 3-4 scenes.
Agreed. I've got two exams tomorrow and I'll be going to a 2D showing of The Avengers afterward to unwind. The 3D, while inoffensive, added absolutely nothing.

Sounds pretty offensive to charge people for 3-4 scenes of use.

Post 3D conversion sucks.
I wonder what the Iron Man suit was ejecting when he let go of the missile at the end. Two things detach from his shoulders.
But why not just do it in general? Could've been a cool moment.
Just seems odd is was completely ignored/forgotten.
Wrong. It was distracting in a lot of scenes. You have to learn how to deal with it by focusing on what you're supposed to be focused on instead of the things popping out.
For example, in one camera angle, there was a streetlight in the foreground popping out from one of the corners of the screen. Just that one streetlight. It was distracting as hell.
This movie made me vow to not watch another action movie in 3D movie again.
Also I'm pretty sure there's some sort of conspiracy to upsell 3D tickets. When I was there the lady was like "oh the 2D one is getting kind of full, want to watch the next showing which happens to be in 3D?" I've seen other people in this thread giving the same story too.
His jetpacks.

Indeed, I was surprised at this, too. Of course, the ones missing the second stinger weren't missing much more than a hilarious brick joke, but still, after missing the stinger in the first Iron Man, I've made it a point of staying in my seat until the last credit is out of sight. It amazed me after so many Marvel movies, that so many people left the theatre before the credits were over. Half the theatre missed the first scene and 3/4 missed the final scene.
Holy shit.Actuals are out .. 207.4M
I figured, but why would he need to eject them?
Here's an AWESOME article about the FX of the Avengers and just how much work it takes to get this stuff on screen. I highly recommend reading this if any of you are artists or 3D guys in general...

Funny thing is, as soon as the credits started, I leaned over to my buddy and was like, "Ugh, I would not want to be the guy who had to model/texture all of that". This article confirms that statement, haha.
Three extra bucks, reserved seating. I'll live.
I hope Whedon doesnt do the same shitty 3D for A2. Only for go IMAX or if he really really wants to buck to studio pressure then film it in 3D.
The film will be distributed in 3D, but it wasnt shot in 3D. The decision was made by the filmmaker. Joss Whedon did a day of testing for The Avengers to decide if he wanted to shoot the movie with 3D cameras. Whedon shot the end of the credits tag sequence in Thor using the RED camera in 3D camera rigs. They lost three and a half hours due to 3D camera rigging issues, which led to Whedons decision to shoot the movie in 2D. The movie was shot on the Arri Alexa camera and not film.
two hundred and seven million dollarsSo I decide to watch it again. Cool, let me go to my theatre for the very first IMAX show, noway anyone is there, certainly not any kids. Yeah, the place was nearly packed by the time the show started FUUUUU
So glad I "failed" to see this opening night like I wanted to... word of mouth got to me... never ended up seeing it in theaters. When I got around to watching it on blu-ray my expectations were so low and.... still.... oh god, venom... what have they done...Spiderman 3
will never forgive myself for contributing to this
I mentioned this a bit back. Not a good thing or a bad thing, just 'unusual' for a movie to set something up and never knock it down like that.
Scene not getting enough love - the climax where Tony Stark stares into outer space, sees the massive army base followed by a nuclear explosion. His eyes growing huge, just staring. I'm pretty sure the music became really quiet at that point.
I forget if the nuclear blast had a "boom" sound or if they did the Serenity "no sounds in space" thing.
I know that feel bro. That and IM2.Spiderman 3

You missed my favorite moment in the moviedidnt notice the shot reflected off caps shield. I need to rewatch this movie now!!!
Did anyone else think this was basically a power rangers movie...as soon as I realized it I could just not get it out of my head....
So good!

If we're gonna post stills from the fxguide article...
Also, for those wondering about the sorts of things Whedon was involved with during cg production, there's an example of it in the fxpodcast around the 15 min mark in terms of animating Hulk.
We don't follow a guy following the Avengers. There's not some kind of Shield doofus. There's not Bob the Shield agent following Captain America around asking stupid questions and getting into wacky hijinks with a couple of racist shield agents or like a robot or some shit.
I left early on purpose, because the previous movies taught me that the short post-credits scene are not really worth it most of the time, and I have no remorse seeing them on youtube when I have paid for the movie.
Most of them are just teasers, the only one that was funny enough was after Iron Man 2 (with Stark discussing his evaluation IIRC). I may have regretted missing the shawarma scene, but since I'm not in the US I would have missed it anyway.
Hahaha, from the Spoony review:
So true.

I liked The Avengers and I really enjoyed the last hour or so, don't get me wrong. Captain America is a much, much better film though. Read my earlier impression, but The Avengers has zero stakes and for a nearly 2 and half hour film, it's hard to get involved with it on more than just the basic popcorn level. I was hoping Whedon could come up with an interesting story, but he didn't. But, like I said, it's fun to see all these characters together and their exchanges are fun.

I could not tell it was post converted. The detail to the 3D in this movie is fantastic. The only weird parts were the shots that were shot from very far away (like the helicopter chasing the car), and that looked exactly like it would with real life binoculars.
It's funny cause Hulk looks more like Ruffalo than Eric Bana or Ed Norton, great job Whedon on the casting call for him
They always base it off the actor's face. Watch the first two again, it looks like Bana in 1 and Norton in 2. Would be weird if it DIDN'T look like Ruffalo.
