Yeah if its a known dev then it would give much away, like if they said its From Software then ppl will get a certain confirmation.

I really doubt this is made by From Software, just doesn't look like their creature designs at all.

I know Shuhei Yoshida sent Allan Becker from Santa Monica studios to Japan to help rebuild Japan Studios, this might be one of his initiatives. I know they really want quicker dev cycles, I can only hope this turns out as good as Gravity Rush ended up being!

Yeah, that might be it. I'm glad Allan is there at SCEJ now to shake things up. I want to see more from Sony Japan. They've brought out some gems this generation (Folklore, Siren: Blood Curse, and to an extent: Demon's Souls).

You don't know if it's an internal effort or not. They have left out names before with projects they own the IP of.

And they really don't have anyone who could make a high-grade game like this.

What other highly regarded Japanese studio could make it, discounting internal Capcom, Namco and SE studios since then the game would be published by these companies too.

Folklore was developed by Game Republic.

Regarding the developer, I'll say there is zero change of the game being by the Dark Souls team at From Software. If the game is indeed developed by From Software, then based on the teaser it would probably be the Otogi/MWC/NB team.

Game Republic!

Haha, you must have edited while I quoted you...
Safe! :)

I think we would have seen From Software in the copyright notices by now if they were behind it.

And now I want this even more. Wonder if we'll get a specific release date on Thursday. Or is it 2013.

I saw a dash attack past the enemy, ice magic, earth/stone magic, lightning magic, and some charge attack near the end. enemy just stand there doing nothing though as he charge the attack. it looks great, the maic visual effect looks nice, especially like the lightning effect and character model seems pretty detailed.

can't wait to see more info about this, I hope this is coming to western market. actually, with Yosp saying that he put one of SSM guy to fix Studio Japan, I sure hope all Studio Japan games now get western release.

Character's arm morphs in one scene? Also too fast for Demon's Souls. Though teaser may be fast forwarded.

If this game has the right formula of rpg mixed with some spice of multiplayer then it's gonna be a sure hit with me.

Also those graphics reminded me of quantum theory... not really a fan of that style.

Why do people are thinking there's something else behind that game ?

Seems fine to me.

Eh? No weapons? so it's only magic? is that confirmed?

It's not "confirmed" because like everything else about the game it isn't fully unveiled yet. But if you look at the key visuals, and the footage shown so far, and the tag lines they're using for the game, it's clear that the big focus is on controlling combat mages who use brutal spells as attacks. You don't see any character holding any weapons at all.

Really? Did you play a different Demon's Souls? This is a fast paced action game with magic and no weapons.
Thematically it looks very much like a Demon's Souls game in what I can see from the setting, bosses etc. Maybe a slightly more anime spin though

Eh, it just reminded me a lot of it. I have no idea why, to be honest. When it started i just instantly thought of Demon's Souls.

I was of the same mindset until at about 27 seconds when you see this guy holding what looks like some giant sword? or maybe i'm seeing things because of all the effects going on.

Perhaps it's just me, but I feel like that's the Japanese equivalent of SSM at the moment (i.e. almost a conglomerate of development companies)?
I don't think those make the same procedures; SCE JAPAN Studio assembles teams required by the actual assigned producers of each title they make (on a individual basis), while SCE Santa Monica Studio acts as an hub or production center for other small studios, helping them to focus on specific tasks they are more capable to do (or committed to do).

There's no sword, he summoned this huge thing which could be a stone pillar or whatever and just smashed it into the enemy.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Need to step off on the no weapons thing though really. Sure its fast paced and thus something pretty different from the Souls games, but you can see the dudes arm turn into a blade and melee stuff occur in the snippets available.

Looks just D__ Souls inspired enough to make me excited. Faster paced for portable play, hopefully a massive roster of monsters to loot and online co-op. Just the kind of game I want for Vita.

Yeah, caught that as well. Reminded me of Darksiders.
