maybe Wii U will come out in December.

Mid-November, like the original Wii, is most likely. I'd be surprised if the Wii is released later than November 11th or 18th (and pleasantly surprised if it's prior to that). I'm guessing since nothing has been made official by Nintendo, they figured a December release would guarantee that the system would already be available.

edit: also has the back changed?

Avengers is also a Kinect game.

How do you recreate Kinect features on the Wii U? Can you? Completely different versions/control schemes?

My mind is going to dangerous places...

So Ubisoft is the only one allowed to announce (and leak) Wii U titles?
Seems announcements blocked due NDAs are just a myth.

The sky is falling!

The ridge right along the back of the controller is gone. Also, I think it probably features triggers now.
I must say though, the distance between the sticks and the D-pad and face buttons is very worrying, and I hope to god it won't be so large on the actual controller.

I must say, Discomurf is doing an awesome job digging up all these patents.

But in the infobox at the top it says...
...so I think including that in the press release was a mistake.
Ubisoft's inability to keep secrets is sort of charming at this point.

Well we will find out soon, if the text saying Wii U will go POFF from the UK site. ;P

I don't like the fact that the shelf on the back of the controller is gone. That looked like it was extremely comfortable and this new one doesn't :(

Is there any way that this is just an older prototype model reused in this patent filing? Are we sure we have not seen these images before?

from the patent document:

As shown in FIG 8, the terminal device 7 includes two analog sticks 53A and 53B and a plurality of buttons 54A to 54L, as operations mechanisms. The analog sticks 53A and 53B are each configured so that the stick portion operated with a finger of the user can be slid or tilted in any direction (at any angle in the up, down, left, right and diagonal directions).

Yeah, hopefully the shelf isn't really gone, that could be a comfort issue.

So they could be sliders AND sticks at the same time?! Mind. BLOWN.

Which says nothing. Sticks would tilt and sliders would be slid :lol.

Find it funny so many are excited to see sticks when sliders were previously defended like the gaf castle was being stormed.

They weren't defended as being better; just good enough. Plus, it's one less thing to complain about.

But it turned out to be meaningless anyway.

Seeing these smaller/ indie downloadable titles gradually being announced/ hinted at is a great sign. Wiiware just didn't receive the support to make it a competitor to Xbox Live Arcade, and the slow start to the 3DS eshop has not been encouraging, but I'm starting to believe Nintendo have pulled themselves together in this aspect. XBLA has been pretty much my favourite thing about this gen, and I'm rarely, if ever, left wishing for next-gen graphics in those games. So basic, affordable, downloadable games on Wii U would be great - especially if they take more risks with interesting applications of the Wii U pad (I trust indie devs to do this more than big 3rd party publishers with their ports and shovelware).
