jezus, my bad... i thought you were talking about the back of the pad while there was allready an i mage of it in the thread.
Sorry, i'm tired......
I did post it
I like how everyone trusts lherre (well you should since he has access to dev kits), but when lherre vouches for ideaman it doesn't count. Thilly thread.This.
word to that, I had to buy that grip that makes the 3DS more like a 360 controller due to this. 3DS design in general is a bit questionable.
Seriously, you people prefer the nubs over the circle pads/sliders?
At least we know the sticks/pads click. That's all that matters.
it would seem to be a bit awkward when thinking about it. Harker did say "sticks". Maybe that was part of the teaser, or maybe he wasn't trying to emphasize that at all.Clickable Circle Pads..
They are really flat, I wonder if this is even possible
Was there anything new in that patent, though? I was looking at the controller patent and it didn't appear that there was anything new.
Fair enough, but it took me five minutes with a fresh store unit to see that i hated them.
I know there's a lot of 'glass half empty' posts here, but there is real brand spanking new info from the patent published today...
- Analog Sticks are clearly shown and detailed
- The back of the controller has been opened up between the triggers...also detailed
- A Wii Remote is listed as a pack in with the system (found by Doc)
Agreed. Vita is a huge step up in every hardware design except 3D/Analogs IMO. Some can say well "duh $100 difference" but I paid the same exact price for both, so that aspect is disappointing to me.
Thankfully the 3DS has an awesome software line-up, but seriously Nintendo; WTF were you thinking with the start/home/pause buttons?
Revision soon please.

Reading the patent looking for nuggets of info... OMG IT HAS AN EJECT BUTTON WHICH EJECTS THE OPTICAL MEDIA FROM THE DISC DRIVE WHEN PRESSED!
Hype reconfirmed.
This is from a brand new patent document published today.
I invite you all to dig through it and find some more nuggets

Fragile in what way?i agree somewhat with this, PSV sticks are way to small, slippery and fragile....i actially prefer the slider from PSP too...
Edit: Also, i think people clamoring for Analog will need to take into consideration that this is a big controller, comfort should come first and the sliders will probably be more comfortable because the thumbs would be more close to the controller than analogs....
But can it eject Iwata from his position as CEO?
Wii U block diagram.
Looks like another GPU centric design.
Edit: Also no HDD.
Why should it do that?
IMO he was the best that could happen to Nintendo after Yamauchi-san

I'll get excited about this in a generation or two when everyone is clamoring for digital-only and only a tiny portion of us still want physical media.Reading the patent looking for nuggets of info... OMG IT HAS AN EJECT BUTTON WHICH EJECTS THE OPTICAL MEDIA FROM THE DISC DRIVE WHEN PRESSED!
At least we know the sticks/pads click. That's all that matters. Well that and analog triggers but that's rumoured as well.
I don't know, can't say I ever had an issue keeping the sticks clicked on any controller while running in an FPS, my hands aren't that big either so it's not like I have thumb size advantage.Might be much easier to keep it "clicked" if its circle pads still instead of sticks.
That's something I HATE/LOATH/PUKE over the clicky function, keep it clicked to run/crouch and then they want you to move around without loosing dropping the clickdown.....

Same here, never had a problem with running in games using L3.I don't know, can't say I ever had an issue keeping the sticks clicked on any controller while running in an FPS, my hands aren't that big either so it's not like I have thumb size advantage.

lherre said:Ideaman and me talked via pm and we "exchanged" info about wii U. I think that he has good info in some ways, but you have to understand that this info can be subjective too (for example in the perception that his "friends" can have about the machine), just like mine.
I'm not trying to legitimize him (only the mods can) but I think it can be interesting to hear what he wants to say (or his connections allow him to say).
As always I can help him or correct him in some ways I'll try to do it.
True, but I could care less about that stuff when it's much more urgent they fix the screen lines issue.

I don't know much about UE3 on Iphone4, but I know that there are no ports of UE3 games from 360 and PS3.
Well said.Exact lherre quote:
It's funny how most of you have selective reading. In no way did lherre "vouche" for Ideaman. Honestly I don't really trust any information unless it comes straight out of Nintendo's mouth (hell even that has some hiccups though) but at least people like ShockngAlberto, Hal_Labatory, Shikamura Ninja, etc. have given correct information before.
The verdict is still out on Ideaman, until E3 I guess (if he stops giving so much vague "news"). I believe you already now where I side though.

How do you get "GPU-centric" from the diagram? Honest question, not a "WTF do you think you're talking about".
Also the diagram of the DRC includes internal memory and a CPU. I bet someone hacks that sucker to play NES roms pretty early on.

Oh god don't remind me. I try to play the 3DS in dim-lights so I can't see the horribleness that is my 3DS top screen.
Honestly, I've had this problem, too.I always loose the "click" while moving unless its a switch click once to activate, click again to deactivate. I guess I just stop pressing it down automatically or something when I start to move with the stick.
I stand corrected, though I thought the mobile versions came first, based on a sort of tech demo, and was then ported to consoles a few months later?Dungeon Defenders
I'm inclined to agree, but if a complex scene is rendered on the pad in addition to 360 graphics on the main screen, that's a good start and one that I think we ought to be happy with.I am about 90% certain we will see only X360 level graphics from Wii U at E3, including Nintendo first party games. It is what I fully expect at this time.
Whatever we see, I'm 100% certain we'll have plenty of people claim it's at best 360 level graphics.
...you are back...hello...
so, like "Mr. Patcher" who is also always about 90% (or more) sure that Nintendo will die...
btw What I'm also sure is that we will not see graphics that show all that Wii U can...also that maybe some 3rd parties are lazy but with most of the 1st and 2nd parties you will see they are way better...

as long as they don't suffer from the 3DS slider issues, I honestly don't care whether they are circle pads or sticks, as long as the functionality is there along with good grip. They're not really flat.
They feel like rubber analog tops that slide around.

Well my point was that I don't know of any console/ PC titles that were ported to mobile; it isn't that impressive that a mobile UE3 game with simple environments, physics etc could be ported the other direction with a bunch of improvements addedYou might be right, but still, UE3 is UE3, doesn't matter what direction it is ported.
