Well, runes served a completely different purpose in D2 so it's really tough to compare. Runes now are more like glyphs from WoW.

I personally liked the runes in D2 (post 1.10, they made for a somewhat interesting economy). Rushing for forge/countess runs/pit runs/etc. were actually enjoyable. Coming across an Um+ was always nice, Ist+ was awesome, Zod/Jah/Ber was like winning the lottery.

I think that was about the old Diablo 3 rune system where you had to find them as drops, not comparing it to D2's system.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
Man the hype is REALLY getting to me at this point. I am watching old Diablo 1/2 videos and checking this thread all the time although I know there is nothing important happening. I just want to be "near" the other addicts...

Ah, so THIS is how crack houses are formed.

The SC2 CE was very much an impulse buy for myself. I beat the Campaign and hadn't put much time in it since. But damn, I don't regret getting the CE at all. I still use the usb drive on a regular basis.
Same. I've lost every other USB drive except for that one. I doubt I will use the D3 one. It will probably stay in the box in my closet until my kids are older (so they won't destroy it)

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
I kinda doubt it, but who knows. I think they're playing with fire though (re: new talent system)
I think the majority of the people are more disappointed in the overall setting and tone of MoP - and not the new talent system (which has actually been getting some praise lately)!

He wasn't comparing it to D2 he was comparing it to the way the runes used to be implemented in D3.

Confession time:

I never finished LOD cause I hated runes.
Why are you posting on GAF right now? Why are you reading this?

You should be playing LoD right this instant.

Oh, I was just speaking for myself (I don't mind the Panda stuff). Just not sure how the revamps will work out.

I know LOD is supposed to be great but the Runes turned me off all those years ago and I just stock to normal D2.

I don't have the key anymore either for LOD so I don't want to spend 15 euro just to play it now :(

Amazing, not many people have played Hellfire.

Did you know about the hidden classes in Hellfire?

Not until recently actually.

I have a boxed copy of Hellfire at home :)

The anticipation is killing me too. The last time I was this pumped for a game I was waiting for Red Dead Redemption. And GTA IV before that. This is pretty rare for me for the most part, though. The good thing about being this hyped for a game is that you know that it won't be all over after a couple days. I can see myself playing Diablo 3 for many years here and there after my first obsession eases up. :p

Ah, my mistake. Appreciate you sending me on a nostalgia trip though.
I appreciate it as-well! You also gave me a fine nostalgia-trip of my childhood! I remember selling my first-ever-Zod to Charsi...
I was bullied in school for months when I told my friends about this "accident".

People thinking buying a mouse will prepare them.

YOU ARE NOT PREPARED.

This is my gaming mouse.

And I'm already not a fan of mouse/kb. Now all of a sudden I'm thinking about letting CE go and get a better mouse instead.

Runes in D2:LoD would have been better if there had been more low level runewords and in-game ways of discovering them. There were a few, but many had really negative side effects and others were useless by the time you got the runes that made them up.

They felt very much like an external part of the game, something you had to be deep into the game to be aware of.

I never liked them originally in LoD and by the time they were made great, it was well after I stopped playing.

I just didnt get the point of running around with all them runes in my inventory. I was just a stupid kid I guess.

And yeah D2 was all dupes at points. Really happy that this might be curbed in D3.

This is my greatest fear.
This is nothing compared to what I fear is going to happen. My ISP has this tendency of turning off the Internet for hours during special moments (like the WotlK-release).

But fear not, GAF! I have a reserve plan in case my ISP decides to fuck itself. If this were to happen, I have a reserve computer at my friends house. I will drive for literally 5 minutes and I'll be there.

Now that I think about it... what if something goes wrong with my plan b? Fuck. I need a plan c, right this instant.

Plan Z: Create your own internets.
