I went "oh god not shit like this" when it started but I think it was quite self aware and at least it succeeded in showing features.. it wasnt THAT bad

IdeaMan vindicated ! (i needed to do this post :p)

- NFC sensor under the D-Pad, you heard it first here

- TV button near the power one

- Wii U classic controller

- No system redesign

- And a few hints about the OS features, etc, spread since the speculation thread 2

I need a tag !

Sod off. Seriously. You didn't do anything other than make guesses, other people guessed things like the NFC icon before you, and you don't actually say anything about a Wii U Pro controller (you wrongfully label it a Classic Controller).

Furthermore, you covered ALL the bases with the "no system redesign" by saying it could also have a slight, or a full redesign.

Stop fishing for attention.

Plenty of 3DS news coming during 'other upcoming opportunities' - Iwata
Wait, is this a real thing? I was pretty drunk for the video, so if he said it then I wouldn't be surprised if I don't remember it. That's super disappointing though, the 3DS is my favorite Nintendo system since N64. It has so much potential. If they neglect it at E3 I'll be incredibly depressed :/

In my opinion this Conference showed in a good way how the Wii U Pad isnt only giving more features for gaming, but also for social interaction within the nintendo network.

i like it. and i looove the curtain lol.

i also found the promo video to be pretty awkward but still better then the last years 3DS "reggie gets pwned by browser LMAO" video

I will never get why people like achievements. They are so stupid and are just annoying.

Also I don't get the big deal about the stick and buttons being switched. I like the horizontal play style better.

Mind = Blown.

Same reason people like high scores. They let you get more out of a game by creating meta-goals. Although the people who just get them for the sake of getting them and filling out gamer scores, trophies, etc very much confuse me too.

I've looked at any of my achievement pages for any system maybe... two or three times, though, so I'm not the one to be defending this. I would like systems that'd allow you to do unlocks and bonuses via achievements though. I think 360 has it's Avatar unlocks, but I'm thinking more of what Blizzard does with in-game items for the more prestigious achievements.

I greatly enjoyed this despite how short it was. We got a lot of cool info from this and this in fact comforts me a bit knowing nintendo I actually going digital and Internet etc. Can't wait for Tuesday!

The in game chat looks like an extension of vita's live area, could be useful. And the miiverse could be fun too.

The key will be properly balancing friends vs random other people that happen to play the same games. If you only see images drawn by friends, and can only video chat with friends, then that means less cocks and balls (well, depending on your social circle)

And, yet, people don't get that it was self-aware. They honestly think this is "Nintendo's view of gamers." Idiots.

Even being self-aware its the most G-rated awful skit I've ever seen to the point of being insulting. More humor can be found in any of Disney's tween based comedy shows, which obviously isn't saying a lot.

The confirmed an account system last E3, so the friend codes should be long gone.

Also, friend codes wouldn't really jive with the whole 'see people you don't know and what they think of games' thing.

It was meant to be fun. Relax.

I really wish the curtain thing was around when I was back in college. So many great pranks could have been played when roommates brought dates back to the room.

I don't get the hate with that video they showed. I thought it was decent.

The right stick being where it is makes perfect sense. They want the FPS crowd, and in an FPS you are constantly on the right stick - for sprinting and for looking around / aiming. I'm sure its comfortable enough hitting the other buttons, I've never known Nintendo to make a controller that didn't feel great.

But how is it less comfortable that way?

No. Doesn't make sense at all. Right stick and face buttons should be swapped. But then it really would be a 360 controller.

The additions shown in the video are really innovative, now Nintendo also invented:

-Clickable sticks for the Gamepad
-DS3/360 like black controller
-Text messages also available in smartphones or handhelds
-Videochat
-Online plaza to meet the avatars of friends and other players
-Sharing user created content on-line to use in their games
-On-line service compatible with several gaming devices
-Web browser

I think Sony is going to copy for the PS3... oh wait, PS3 had it before!

Just wait till those copycats at Sony release PS Wara Wara. You'll be coming in here and be like, "yo Sony knew about Wara Wara all along", but it was Iwata who turned Wara Wara into Wara Wara. This cannot be denied!!!

Cool so far. Was actually excited at the TV remote part and the Miiverse online looks like it has potential. That skit with the guy was terrible BTW.

Still not sold until I see what they going to offer at their presentation but they have me a bit interested.

Also, if this is what kept GAF down for more than 20 mins then I guess this board will be down most of first few days.

Um... I thought that was his actual grandfather.

i think you need to re-watch the video. The guy asks him to call him grampa and the main guy says no thats really weird.

FFuuu.. at GAF being down for so long.

Quite content for the presentation.
Things I liked:
- True sticks (was kinda known but not official) I was kinda afraid of the circle pads although I did never experience them.
- TV remote function. I really hoped for that. Glad I can check this box
- Taking screenshots and game footage(??) - also waited for that. Cool.
- Browser - Wanna browse in bed (Curtain - lol)
- Checking on things while gaming.

Things I did't like:
- Over the top acting just makes me cringe, argh.
- Missing info I dearly need: tablet-console range? walls? Multiple tablets? Didn't expect specs, price or release date anyway, so that's <shrug>
- Classic controller looks to much like the Xbox controller. What were they thinking, lol.

Most of the online stuff doesn't interest me at all, but I'm surprised Nintendo is so bold about it now playing the catchup game. Video chat and handwritten messages are kinda dangerous, heh. Iwata didn't say anything about matchmaking etc. needed for online play, potentially online gamers probably miss this info dearly. Hope this will play a role on Tuesday.

Nobody should be defending that acting in that skit. Nobody. That was awful.

Anyone else interested in the part where Iwata said about people making content and sharing it?
Yeah, not sure what that means and I'm surprised no one is really talking about it.

Actually, the whole network gave me more of a LittleBigPlanet vibe than a Demon's Souls vibe.

It's not. You can tell in the video - you can see where the world starts.

Very disappointing. I wanted that more than I wanted an art style change (At least the background is nicer).
Well it looks sliiiightly SMW inspired. But I guess you can't really tell yet

Yes. I'm holding out hope they bring this up on Tuesday.

I caught on like 5 minutes later that OctoG is for octogenarian. I actually thought that video was pretty funny. I like how gaf instantly debates the stick positions on the only "normal" controller.

There is NO WAY PEOPLE ACTUALLY ENJOYED THAT SHITTY VIDEO.

Come ON gaf. Seriously. It was FUCKING AWFUL. Cheesy, horribly acted, self-aware to the point of being TOO self-aware, and just...fucking STUPID.

GAF, good lord. Do not succumb to something that horrible.

Wow, A pre-E3 small prerecorded clip brought GAF down. Tomorrow and onwards will be fun.

Yeah. Looks like they're going to need to turn off avatars/close the OT afterall.

Otherwise, GAF will die before the first demo of the Microsoft conference ends (Halo 4).

People complaining the Pro Controller looks too much like the 360 controller...erm...to me the 360 controller is the most comfortable there is, I honestly can't think of a way I'd improve it outside of the D-pad.

I'm glad Nintendo is going for comfort over that making a brand new controller that looks different for difference sake!
