Halo |OT5| Believe, Again

So...just watched the vid. And I looked online at some stuff. I have watched the game but just now saw these things in his "loadout". Are those basically perks? It there an option with no ordnance drops or perks or loadouts? Like..pistol starts and weapons on the map? Halo is the last game to have that...

sorry if that's old known news, couldn't find it..

That sniper seems like something that didn't make the cut for Reach, that's how ugly I think it is (I dislike Reach's industrial weapon designs). And I've hated those quarter circles around the reticule ever since that RvB video, perhaps (and hopefully) you don't really notice them once you're in control but right now in the footage they seem really annoying and in the way.

Does anyone have a link to all the changes that went into effect for the Halo Reach TU? It's surprisingly hard to find.

Wow, I don't know what the hell's going on with that sniper. I love the look of the new BR, and I've gotten used to the DMR after seeing it in motion, but I don't know if I'll ever likt this new sniper. It's cool that someone wanted to add an actual scope somewhere, but... that's not how I would've done it.

I think my problem is with the fact that there's just one solid block with the scope, and the screen, and a bunch of other junk attacked. If the screen was separated from the main body of the scope, it might not look so awkward. Now it just looks like a huge brick with a bunch of stuff taped on . Also the bolt is a really big, awkward shape. Also that square rail thing on the left is an eyesore. Also that cable on the right of the scope looks liek it belongs on my parents' landline phone, not very futuristic.

Hopefully the canonical context for the sniper is that the UNSC Infinity was celebrating "Bring your 23rd Century Antique Weapons to Work Day" when it lands on Requiem.

Am I really the only one that liked the new DMR from the get-go? Thought Reach's was terrible looking.

It's funny, when the first shots of the Reach DMR came came out from the Tom Morello leak, I hated the design; mainly the size of the scope relative to the rest of the gun compared to the BR. By the time the game came out I was fine with it, now I even like it. I think I'm going through the same process again with H4. :lol

I'm just hoping the MP here will addict me like Halo 2 did back in the day.

Halo 3 I never liked as much (Thought the gadgets were pointless and stuff like the rocket pod just didn't feel right)

Halo Reach I liked a good bit actually, I played it up to rank LT (The one that's an achievement) Though it just felt like it was missing something

I have a lot of hope for Halo 4 though. However there's one thing I hope they implement.
Being able to use the control set up from Halo 2, to this day pressing RB to get into a warthog and other things still throws me off.

To be honest I can understand the MLG hate, considering all they do aside from play games and act douche-baggy all they do is complain if a game doesn't meet their specific requirements, seriously I hate to use the old adage, but adapt for the love of god.

Maybe. I doubt it's too late to make aesthetic changes at this point, they may not want to when other things are priority. In fact there are other things that are more important that could be worked on and should be worked on than the simple look of a sniper from first person.

Not all of us are like that. I like Reach, pre patch, and even more post patch, and I think H4 looks great, but that does not mean I don't think things cant improve? No.

I also am starting to hate the term MLG community because lets be honest we were sorta left out to dry.
 
Wow, the Halo 4 sniper looks pretty damn ugly. I think Reach's one is the best.

Gameplay looked like more of the same. Not very interested so far. Also hard light shield looks pretty stupid.

This will be STRESSED A LOT in Halo 4 competetive gametesting. There will be focus on keeping the game as vanilla as possible while keeping it competitive and balanced. It won't be "hey there's a DMR/BR and let's go from here".

Glad to hear. I enjoyed H3 MLG but Reach MLG feels so different from the base game and for me it's hard to adapt™.

That sniper rifle is looking pretty rough. Despite being impressive on a technical level I really have not liked any of the changes to the visual style thus far. The forerunner weapons and enemies look good but the human and covenant styles are just being absolutely tarnished.

During the video Franklin says that the normal Team Slayer doesn't have the Ordnance Drop system.

Edit: They are playing Team Slayer :lol

Problem with the sniper is that the whole enemy team can hide behind that thing and you'll never see them.


I can imagine it already. Benny Hill music of the guy running around the map, looking for the team while all 4 hide behind that gigantic sniper.

Nope, they're playing "E3 Team Slayer," which I assume was there in order to showcase new stuff as well as limit the sandbox to what's been announced.
 
Reach's sniper design is the best in my opinion.

Again though, I'd like to mention that when it comes actually playing the game in November and hopefully for a couple years, these are minor complaints at best.

On the aesthetic side of things, yes but that new sniper design verges dangerously over into affecting its functional design. It takes up near the entirety of the right hand side of the screen, to the point where it doesn't seem fun or advantageous to walk around unscoped.

New Sniper

- Aesthetically abysmal. Looks like it was assembled from discarded bits found in the bottom of a dustbin circa the 1800's.

- Obscures the screen

- Looks too close to the screen. Is anyone else getting that Halo 3 vibe where the FOV is too close to the screen and therefore feels claustrophobic and clumsy to aim in? Particularly with that snipe.

On a positive note it looks a lot harder to use than the Reach sniper and that is certainly welcome. The magnetism looks to be appropriately low so well done to 343 for getting that spot on.

I desperately hope they're not above redesigning or adjusting that scope. It's not too late and could be a real problem that can't be fixed post-launch if not looked at now.

Ugly. Sure, the scope could cool nice on some other weapon, or even on some other sniper, but not Halo's sniper.

IMO Halo 3 has the best looking sniper, though Reach's sniper has cool scope.

Just realized Halo 4 sniper's problem. The weapon is too gray, it should have some black too. Also, the scope should be tinted green, if not wholly green. More resemblance to previous snipers in theme, please.

EDIT, can someone photoshop the scope to black with greenish lens and display?

It looks too brown to me.

I said it last night but I'll reiterate it now, that sniper is tragically ugly.

I've always disliked the new BR skin too.

It's actually appealed to me less and less the more I look at it. If they had stuck with the Reach AR I think I'd like it more, because it seems like that's the look they went for with it.

Calling an entire community douchebags isn't exactly classy either, is it?

Most of the things that people in the MLG community complain about are things that create a level playing field where there should not be a level playing field. If you're better than someone, you should beat them. Hands down.
