So Max has a CvSNK 2 cabinet and has started recording matches-
http://youtu.be/3_bX3LZ6CL0

Max if you're reading, keep in mind that Lvl. 2 supers in C-Groove can be canceled into Taunts, a Lvl. 1 super or any other special move.
So with Cammy, he could've done her dive kick for a little extra damage and a little meter.
Also, mind if I ask why you're using P-Groove? I think you'd fare better with K-Groove, since
1- JDing is much less riskier
2- JDing recovers a little health
3- Pretty sure JD can be canceled into anything like Parries
4- You don't ahve to worry too much about using a super move

Because X-Factor is, and needs to be, a comeback mechanic to balance out loss of team synergy.
On the one hand I get that but even still, the buff shouldn't turn give TOO much of a buff. I personally see no problem in having Comeback mechanics in a fighting game, but they shouldn't be too powerful.
In one of the CEO matches I've seen an entire team can get devestated in like 10 seconds using KFC, when the opposing player would've spent 1 min. just to get to the opponent's last character.
Marvel is not a game like Street Fighter, where you have just as much chance to win with good play at 20% health as you do at 100%. When you lose a character in Marvel, you lost a part of your capacity to make things happen. No one aside from JWong has made an X-Factorless comeback in Marvel 3, and it's for a good reason.
Understandable, but JWong can work as an example of why you don't necessarily need KFC to win. Without KFC, UMvC3 seems pretty balanced for the most part. Lvl. 3 KFC just seems to overpowered IMO.
Yes I've seen matches where a Lvl. 3 KFC character gets defeated, but even then...UMvC3 is much more fun when long combos are performed as opposed to doing ABC, Super to defeat a character with KFC.

Have you guys seen the SFxT grand finals? It's undeniable now that the game is finished now in the FGC.

This is why I think Persona is going to do huge- this game will be 100% dead, and MK/SC/KOF will suffer some as well from a post-EVO drop- MK and KOF are getting a bit long in the tooth, and SC never really took off. People are going to want something new (and not sure VF will get many more folks though it deserves it) It's fertile ground for a new 2d game after EVO- Atlus really picked great release dates for KOFXIII (the original release date would have been better) and Persona.

The ground is ripe, and the only thing that I think could derail it is GG causing a community split if it gets released too close to Persona's release date (and even then I think most folks will quit GG fast)

I really do hope persona 4 Arena will blow up. But it being an anime game I doubt it unless a good portion of the FGC has played Persona 3/4 the rpg and loved it.

Anime games just don't have good track records, a lot have come and a lot of them fell.
1) BB
2) GG
3) AH3
4) MB

I mean most get one shot at evo and never again to be seen.

MB is a special case since the inaugural tournament was voting in by fans. I wouldn't say any of these games except maybe Arcana Heart 3 "fell off" since their communities are still very active. AH3 is different because it came out at the worse possible time (PSN hack earthquake) in addition to evo not putting it in the 2011 line up.

Most of the characters in the game are fairly balanced in their XF3 usage. It could use some tweaking for characters like Wesker, but I think it's a fundamentally sound concept. Also, a lot of the XF3 comebacks are made after the opponent blew XF1 to kill their point character. It's a decision that can, and should be able to, backfire. Otherwise everyone will just blow XF1 to kill on touch, and there won't be any strategy behind it.

That's like two matches out of millions being played, and it barely counts because it's JWong. You do need X-Factor to win these things and make a comeback, and it's important to have a comeback mechanism in this game for various reasons. I'd be all about scaling damage more and changing TACs, though.

Well fell off in terms of mainstream exposure. Its hard to find a stream of any of these games at any major, and if its on its on the secondary stream most likely.

I want Persona 4 Arena to blow it up like umvc3/sf4ae but I have doubts.

edit
Also the trend of the FGC overall not accepting/playing anime games. The rule seems to be that 1) if the scene isn't big and 2) not at evo as a main game, the game will have a small scene.

I mean there are streams of these games around and there are a bunch of youtube and nico channels dedicated to these games. These games not being "popular" is hardly indicative of its success and how thriving it's communities actually are.

P4A will most likely do well but it's up to tournament organizers to actually run tournaments for the games as usual

For the record xfc actually balances the game more than it hurts it. Some characters have very little hopes of battling top tiers but xfc makes it possible. Every character has to respect xfc especially characters like Vergil. It's the great equalizer. They just need to trim down xfc again like they did going from vanilla to ultimate more specifically the lvl 2 and lvl3 values and then reduce values on a few characters.

The biggest problem with umvc3 outside some obvious character balance issues is tac. It's stupid and needs a major revision.

No way persona will blow up.

There's just too many fighting games, and you have to become specialized in a single one nowadays if you wanna do good.

Ya the addition of a straight up rock/paper/scissors mechanic was stupid.

Persona 4 will not be anywhere near SF4/UMVC3 in terms of popularity. Too anime and not Capcom (360 crew holla, though)

Also lol @ including melty with those games. Don't bring up doujin titles when speaking about big games or falling off.

Under Night in Birth for EVO2K13. I'll start silk screening shirts now.

Also with the strength of incoming mix ups in this game, XF is a must. When top players learn meaty incoming mix ups, your first dies and then your second. You are mindfucked. XFC into XF3 is something to prevent constant OCV.

I'd like to see Persona do well, I mean realistically the best we can hope for is that people actually show up to majors and it gets some decent stream time but either way I'll still be playing it. I'm really glad that KoF is blowing it up, I know I had my doubts at the start.

Yeah SFXT will lay at its deathbead after EVO but will completely be removed from the fgc after the Capcom 25th year anniversary tournament.

For EVO 13, the garunteed games are probably going to be Kof,SF4,Umvc3 and TTT2. Persona, Injustice and Playstation All Stars might make the cut depend on how they are received

Evo will probably end up being a 4-day event with the pools for the less popular games taking place on Thursday instead. It's the only way I can see games like Persona getting into Evo next year.

I feel Persona is THE game to watch out for here. Take the GG/BB established FGC players, and then toss in the awesome that is P4 on its own, and I think you could have solid turn outs on par with Mk/KoF/Tekken.

You are forgetting Skullgirls. It's the only other versus style game the community has and it's the most tournament friendly game in the scene right now(even better after the patch). Some folks like Mike Ross won't be into it like they were into SFxT, but the game has more than enough presence at majors and we might see four DLC characters by next EVO.

I want Persona to blow up, but it's different enough that people might look for excuses to avoid playing it.

Don't count on GG players to hype anything but GG now that Accent Core is coming out on PSN and XBL.

Wouldn't happen, Mr Wizard made a thread on SRK asking if people are open to the idea of a 4 day EVO and most people oppose it. Having to take an extra day off is a big deal for many people.

I think if the community makes enough noise there will be a place for it but they need to not make the same mistakes as they've done with BB. They need to come out in force and show that there's people who want to play. Maybe I'm wrong in using KoF as an example but I feel like those guys just hit the ground running with KoF13 and it keeps growing.

Apparently Mago lost his passport, and going back to Japan would take him too long to get another passport, so he's going to be staying here until Evo, and he'll be going to WNF also.

It helps that KOF got representation on just about every big stream for months until it solidified as a big game in people's eyes. I think IPW did put BB front and center for a while, but that was it. I don't think I've ever seen WNF and ASW(let alone BlazBlue) in the same sentence. WNF has been putting all the new games on show for a while now. It'd be great if they gave Persona the same treatment they gave Skullgirls and Virtua Fighter. It wasn't just the community that kinda slacked on BB here(ASW is also to blame for sure).

Why extend it? SFxT's slot should be open for next year. We also don't know if MK will be replaced(relax MK guys, 2 EVOs in a row is damn good). There is enough space with the current format for next year's games.

Mago, Bala and Romance for the next 3 weeks is going to be crazy. I wonder if Mago staying will effect TRB because UMvC3 is suppose to be the main stream game till EVO.

It better, I'd really like to see him go against the other Socal players like Mr. KOF, Reynald, Team Chaos etc. I'm sure he'd like to level his game up as well.

MK9 should stay if it's still pulling in numbers, even if it has been at EVO for 2 years already. Make it 3! I don't even like MK9, haha.

I personally don't think Persona is gonna be that big, tbh. We shall see though.

Of course personally as a SC5 player, I want it back. But I don't see it happening.
