Steel Battallion Heavy Armour - "1/10" "It does not work" "Should not have shipped"

Eh, that's just wrong. Even on day 1 Kinect Sports was a much better game. Adventure is basically a technical demo of the base sensor functions, something like WiiPlay was to the wiimote.

I'd say you're both wrong. Dance Central is the only good game for the Kinect.

Kinect is nothing more than a stand alone dance controller

Heh, this was probably the only Kinect game to ever interest me. I thought the concept was cool if it worked. Well looks like it's not just having some problems, bust straight up busted instead. Well, no Kinect for me this gen I guess. I also assume that this will probably be the end of the Steel Battallion IP.

Well I downloaded the demo but I haven't played it yet. Actually, the only kinect game experience I have so far is Skyrim, and that's actually been pretty useful... probably because it's voice only.

The self destruct function is the most fun I had playing the demo. Getting to finally blow up that uncontrollable piece of crap was a great laugh.

LOL, i can understand that :)

Actually the game is just beeing very realistic, it was the mech in the game that was not manufactured right by that useless future corporation, it is definalty not Kinect fault :)

The thing is to manage to finish the game with this bot or die, this is hardcore realism in games for core gamers, only possible with Kinect

Why the hell wouldn't you link to the review? This actually is really fair. If the reviewer physically couldn't play the game, they should write that.

"You are the controller." Well, they never said which one. Analogy incoming:

how does it even get 1/10 then?

considering how hardcore and insane the first game was, and how reliant on a massive controller with thousands of buttons, this is the very definition of polar opposites. I can only imagine MS did it as a thought experiment

Call me a Troll I don't care, Kinect is shit, Wii is not as shit and the Move is probably the least shit of the lot.... but still shit. Why MS, Nintendo and Sony wasted money on this I don't know. To all those suckers that bought these things you are gullible and easily separated from your money. And any of you apologists that say it's good, quite lying to yourself, it's because you bought a "motion control" and are in denial.

Well, isn't the fact that Wii sales have declined so sharply and anecdotally they get hardly used anymore confirmation of some people's original view that there wasn't much fun there to begin with?

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much

Or could it be that Nintendo abandoned the platform 2 years ago? Hmmm....

Main characters of both Starhawk and Walking Dead. There's a handful of others, but no recent ones I can remember.

There's a certain wonderful DLC episode of a certain 2K game that I can not name due to me giving out said character's race being a massive, plot ruining spoiler. It features an amazing lead character who just happens to be black.

Name of game and character below:

BioShock 2: Minerva's Den - Charles Milton Porter

What do you mean in denial?

I have one and I enjoy it. I tried the demo for this and it is indeed very shit.

Doesn't stop Kinect being decent. I know this is Gaf so to get into an argument about Kinect is pointless but there you go.

*shrug* Child of Eden is great on Kinect, I enjoy it alot.
But to say Kinect isn't often fiddly would be an outright lie for me.
Doesn't bode well for that other great white hope of Kinect,
Crimson Dragon.
Yeah, while I hope it turns out alright, so much for that hardcore wave of Kinect titles from Japan.

I can understand that there are a couple of games that do in fact use it well, Dance Central being the main contender for best use of Kinect. There are however many that do not. Imagine if there were an equal ratio of games that couldn't use the Xbox controller? Not just that the controls weren't ideal with their layout, but actually didn't work, you pressed the right trigger but the weapon didn't fire, you jumped... Now instead of the game actually representing what you input it 'assumed' what you would 'want' to do and then executed it. Would that make the experience of playing video a game a fun one? Kinect does this all the time.

Or could it be that Nintendo abandoned the platform 2 years ago? Hmmm....

Because people stopped playing it, but I don't know if that was because of the controller. More likely the lack of intent by the user base to buy games that weren't Wii Sports or Wii Fit.

Thinking about kinect only pisses me off that we get shitty motion gaming, yet we still can't have shitty VR. I WOULD LOVE TO TRY SHITTY VR, why do you keep it from me?!

So an article is worth discussing, but not worth reading? I fail to see the logic.

People are still annoyed at Justin because when backed into a corner lately by Patrick Klepeck he tried to push blame onto neogaf for no logical reason.

But yeah, should have linked. Just because he made a mistake doesn't mean the OP should have. Be the better man, OP. Classiness is better.

I wonder if From Software put their interns on this game.

Looks to me like they made the game for normal controls then added Kinect without changing the environment to best use motion commands. Can see how they made the mistake; but reviewers are right - this should not have shipped even if it meant a delay, they must have identified they'd mucked up and tbh there are ways to make what we see in that video work well - even on Kinect.

I'll have to give it a try myself before believing it's this bad.

Hope Crimson Dragon controls nicely though...

That's Kinect only too, another game that really should at the very least have traditional controller support as an option in case motion ends up being a mess.

Some kinect games have been interesting but I feel like that review making the point about consistency of input recognition hits it on the head.

Guys, don't worry....for the low low price of 4000msp, you'll soon be able a patch that makes it a fraction more playable.

This is all in line Cacpom's business strategy.

I'm all in favor of ragging on poorly implemented motion control, but this post is just ridiculous. Thanks for informing me that I didn't actually enjoy Super Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime Trilogy and have just been imagining all that enjoyment, though. My eyes have finally been opened!

EDIT: I don't care if you dislike motion controls. That's none of my business. What I find ridiculous is you saying that other people could not have actually found an experience enjoyable and that they must be deluding themselves.

No, it doesn't look like this to me at all. If you design a game for normal controls, there is no way the game would play like the way it does or look the way it does. It has been a Kinect project from day 1, but it's clear that From and Capcom have no Kinect experience at all, and couldn't create the game that they envisioned.

I haven't made a lot of research about this game but maybe this could be ported to the WiiU in a more functional way. So maybe is not all wasted.
