That's what I thought I heard. I guess the game was actually an amazing, ahead-of-its-time design, a 3D action game that worked great on handhelds and playing with friends wherever, but shoehorned as an online console game with a ridiculous right stick control scheme.Yeah, the series exploded on the PSP. I don't think it ever cracked a million in Japan on the PS2. Tri managed to do better than that, but it still not even close to the portable numbers.
At this point, yeah. It's less ridiculous just because the series started on consoles and so a lot of people would naturally want it where they first played or prefer playing it, but it's just done so much better on handhelds and like I said it seems like design practically meant for them. For any console MH game they made they could make more money putting those resources towards a new handheld game.
You might as well start asking why Nintendo has never made a console Pokemon.

Ehh, I imagine it probably still did well enough then actually. Monster Hunter games don't seem to have as much time and money invested in them as, say, Resident Evil. At the very least they must be saving a lot by not bothering with loads of VA or acted out cinematics.Fore some perspective, here's HD console Capcom games that Tri sold more than:

Yeah, even back in the PS2 days it was obvious where the future of the series was heading.

Where is the best play to start if your kinda new to the series? I have a vita so is freedom unite any good? I heard people geek over mapping the camera to the right analog stick so i figure I might as well play it on my vita instead of the PSP.
