Yeah but FFVII has done more for the PS brand than any other game from SE or really any other game period.

What exactly has Bioshock done for the PlayStation Brand? If SE says "No Cloud, only Lightning" I don't think Superbot will pass that up.

She's a crappy character from a terrible installment in the series. If this game is purely made to whore out characters for future sequels, what a shame. Yet Parappa, Jak, Big Daddy, Toro are here (are we getting any more of these games? Maybe not). Plus, Final Fantasy VII helped build the Sony brand, where as XIII was symbolic of Sony's fall from grace in that they lost their exclusivity of the franchise to Microsoft. But w/e, if Square wants to sell more shitty sequels to a shitty rpg, I wouldn't put it past them.

Toro starred in a game released last November and is constantly featured in SCEJ's marketing stuff. He'll have future games.

Jak's HD Collection was released a few months ago.

SCEJ has said there's potential for future Parappa games as late as last year.

Big Daddy's got Bioshock Infinite next year.

The Big Daddy is not in Bioshock Infinite.

There are no "Big Daddy" characters in Bioschok Infinite though right?

Before you say, "But it's still advertising the franchise."...then so is Cloud.

Yep, a FF character is better than no FF character.

Luckily I loved FF13 and really liked Lightning so I'm set either way. She would also add to the very lacking female count in the roster.

I actually didn't mind Lightning as a character at all and I still don't, it's just that the game was shit.

I also don't think that she would fit in this game, but I can imagine it happening. Cloud is really the FF character that should be in this.

Exclusive Bioshock title for Vita?

One thing people are forgetting is that though this is a celebration of Playstation and the characters, it is in the end a game. You cannot have a game with all characters with guns and call it a brawler or a fighting game. You can't have a fun game with everyone having the same fighting style and is just reskined. If I had to do that, I would play a mod with character skins. You need variety in style, size, class, endurance and difficulty.

People need to understand that in order to make a good fighting game, you need variety of balanced characters, and in order to sell the game you need recognizable characters. It's a fun and complicated scenario which is why Big Daddy makes a whole lotta sense in the game. He is one of the most recognizable character of this gen and he is not your typical gun wielder. There are far too many skinny fast characters that we need characters like Big Daddy to include a strong heavy.

That being said, a couple pages back, I DID reveal one more character right here in these forums...last night in fact! ;)

Last night? All you mentioned was Cole though. The Connor thing was brought up 2 days ago, unless it's not actually him, and your "reveal" was Cole.

Yeah, because the cars in two of the pictures were parked in front of a grill restaurant.

Grill = Coal.

See though? That doesn't really even amount to anything. We were all expecting Cole so much that someone even made the connection, but no one really thought twice about it because the clues are more obscure than just making educated guesses to begin with.

He revealed Cole, after Cole was officially announced? Doesn't count as a reveal from him to me.

Hahahahaha

I'm missing the joke here. PS3 got exclusive Bioshock DLCs. Vita is getting exclusive Bioshock title with original story. Whether the game is released or not is a different story but both companies have a decent relationship.

Regardless, I rather have Big Daddy than having a gun wielding space marine # 25531.

We've only seen cole use good version moves...
Maybe the night and day thing was hinting at possibly another version of cole for evil... I kinda doubt it though

Bioshock for Vita didn't even get a logo announcement, and the last time Levine talked about it he said it only existed on paper. I don't think it ever existed, hence the laugh.

Agreed.

It'd be like Nintendo getting the rights to toss a Street Fighter character into melee and they picked Dan.

No its not because contrary to what you believe lighting is actually a very popular character and she's not a joke character. Just because her game was bad doesn't make her any worst of a character than cloud. People actually like dan as well but like I said lighting isn't a joke character and she is a figurehead or her own game unlike dan so that example and any like it won't work.

Now that said I understand the need for cloud in this game and he should be in over her. If they got lighting I don't think people would even be that mad as those are the only 2 characters people can really see.

I still think that if the grill/coal/lightanddark clue was Cole, that the orange and silver cars are Ratchet and Clank. But then it's pretty obvious that they'll be there anyway.

First of all, Cloud is a lot more popular and iconic. Lightning is just the most recent FF hero.

Secondly, and most importantly, Cloud was a huge PlayStation character and Lightning is almost the exact opposite.

No, not Cole. A whole other character. Me.

Goku?

Just because you don't like the game doesn't remove the fact that it and its sequel sold almost 10 million units, and a sequel is (probably) on the way. For that fact alone Sony should be salivating over Lightning as a character. Cloud and his game may have sold more, but his game is far older and the Compilation is done and dusted

I still wanna see Sora in a game like this, be it this, Smash Bros, hell I'll even suffer through Dissidia to play as Sora in a crossover fighter. Ahh but I doubt Disney'll ever let it happen.

I played this game at comic con and am a lot less excited now. The environments are so small that your character gets flung up into the air by almost any attack. It feels like you are a pinball bouncing inside a tiny box and I felt that I didn't have control of what my character was doing. I only played one map once so I could be wrong but my first impressions weren't great.

I wonder if 3rd party characters are going to get stages or atleast part of crossover stages themselves?

Like is there going to be a Killzone stage with Bioshock elements? or a Fat princess stage with Tekken elements?

I've known about the game for about 2 years but only revealed it in October, 2011. If I wanted to really milk it, then for the 6 months leading up to when the game was finally shown in full, I could have gradually let out the first batch of characters, stages, details, etc.

Instead, I gave a whole lot, all at once to please the fans and get people excited. It was also at a time where I wasn't told to "not" put anything up, so I did it all for the fans.

I decided to let SuperBot have Big Daddy for E3 because I know they worked hard on it and deserve as a studio to have some "first" on their own game.

Remember, I try to be respectful of the developer, my source, and all of you. Anyways, the reason for my hints being increasingly more cryptic is because of establishing a relationship with Omar and his team at E3 and agreeing to not say too much to the point that they have no surprises themselves left.

Could I tell you everything now? Yes. Would my source in particular be upset? No, as long as I put up the news when given permission to. (That has always been the agreement). Would all of you love to hear the last 1st and 3rd party characters? I guarantee you would. But would SuperBot be hurt? Yes. There are company's stocks to consider, press events that have time and money put into them, and not to mention just being mindful of when they would like to announce things.

Would I get in trouble? No I wouldn't. But as a man and not a journalist, I'm doing things the way I am to please everyone. Journalist Paul still does have fun wow'ing the Internet but there's more to it than hits and fame. It's just how I handle things.

That being said, a couple pages back, I DID reveal one more character right here in these forums...last night in fact! ;)
i'm confused. what was revealed? or do you mean to say that you hinted at a character?

For some reason, I personally don't see 3rd party characters getting stages. But who knows?

What stage did you play in? I imagine the Dojo stage being the most suffocating one.

In addition to the combos video this is definitely one of my favorites. This is the kind of sweet stuff the game is gonna be about you know? Some of those avoiding techinques were really "Oh wow" moments I think
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXLQqgMoZHI

That........that was..........terrible. That's what they are calling "Super defense"?! That sucked, just regular rolling out of the way and maneuvering out of the way sometimes using a special to stay in the air longer. *sigh* It looks like no fun at all. When I heard about the defense against supers, I automatically thought something akin to "Gamebreaker Cancel" from the NBA/NFL Street series. Then the way they slowed it down in the video, ugghhhh.

Getting less and less hyped for this game, sad to say. It seems like it's going to be one of thoes games that makes you want to play the original, like TMNT: Smash Up & Cartoon Network Punchtime Explosion.
