Minna no Golf 6 returns to PS3

That's how the PSP's descent in the West started -- "I'll wait for the PS2 version"

Nice not knowing you, Vita.

I understand this taking an "exclusive" away from Vita but how is this a big deal? No one actually purchased a Vita for Minna No Golf. I hope to get mine as soon as Minna No Golf 6 Portable Edition is announced with PSV featuring cross play with the PS3 version of the PSV port of Minna No Golf.

I'm pretty sure that in Japan, Minna no Golf 6 is the second-best selling Vita game behind Persona 4 Golden.

Why wouldn't they be? They might not be in the portable gaming market in 10 years though. I doubt any first party will be.

Because they seem to be run by morons. Eventually I think they'll have to start selling off divisions just to stay afloat, Sony Pictures being the first that'll probably go.

Sony should change their slogan to "Two steps forward. One step back."

a port?

no one is buying the vita version anymore, so it makes sense to bring it to a new userbase.

I don't think you know how HSG works. These games tend to sell for as long as a platform is available. Announcing this port will cripple the Vita version's sales.

Or you know they'll buy the game now for a platform they actually own, really enjoy it, and then when said game, lets say Gravity Rush, gets a sequel they will remember the fact that they really enjoyed it and it will entice them to buy a Vita - because of a game they would have never played in the first place had it just stayed on the Vita.

Why would they buy a Vita, and not just wait for a PS3 port of Gravity Rush 2?

I think this is awesome...Just means more players online which they desperately need in the na/eu servers. I may just double dip as well!

Well if they're porting it, I hope they take the time to re-render it in HD.

The game doesn't even run at native res on Vita.

Because they're not going to feel like waiting a year for a game they really want to play.

Miku is going to sell a ton of Vitas. All those people could just wait a year or however long it is to play it on their PS3 but they are choosing to play a game they really want to play as soon as its available.

Really bad example, because Miku is going to sell considerably worse than the PSP iterations and we won't be able to tell if that's because of the effects of a well known upcoming PS3 versions or just userbase differences.

It's no secret that I'm a huge Vita pessimist, but eh, it really is just one game getting ported nearly a year after the Vita release. Takao should wait for TGS before panicking.

Wow. This was one title that was pushing me to get a Vita but now I'll just get the PS3 version. Just a matter of time before Tear Away is announced for PS3 as well.

Hopefully this brings more players to the game. Also, hopefully they re-launch the title with Cross Buy in NA and EU.

Edit: Also, be honest folks. As much as it's nice to have this on PS3, there is still something very incredible and fun involved in carrying the game around with you and being able to put the system to sleep. It's simply not "the same". At least not to me. Portability is still a selling point for this game, IMO.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
I hope this and Dream Club PS3 aren't the only reveals from Famitsu this week. :p

Japanese Market =/ American market.

Given TGS is rumored to be when PS3 Super (Ugly) Slim is set to be revealed obviously Sony will announce ports for Gravity Rush, and a forthcoming one for Soul Sacrifice. :p

I have never been given the impression that these games sold a large amount outside of Japan post-PS2 so I'm obviously talking about Japan in regards to its' sales.

has there been a full miku game on ps3 that isn't some half assed funky psp connecting nonsense?

No it won't. People won't buy a vita just for HSG, they can continue to play HSG5 on PS3. They might buy a vita because they want to play HSG on the go, and having it on PS3 will make no difference.

or it's one more reason to own a Vita.

continue your game when you're on the go.

Good point

A ton of Vitas? How much is a ton, in terms of units?

That's a positive way of looking at it.

I'll revise my statement as say it's one less reason for me to buy a Vita as it was literally the only game I wanted for it.

Honestly I like the hardware itself but I can't justify a purchase without games I want to get on it.

This brings up an interesting point. I hope the PS3 port isn't full price at $60.

It almost certainly will be. At the lowest, it'll be $39.99. I think Sony will probably price it at $59.99 in the US, and bundle in the Vita version as a "value add". Maybe some new content as well.

Yeah because waiting a year is SO HARD compared to buying an entirely new, expensive system. You're completely underestimating peoples willingness to wait. GTA VCS sales didn't go up after LCS set the PS2 port precedent, they went down. Even people that already owned PSPs decided to wait for the PS2 port.

The game bombed hard on Vita and burned the brand pretty bad so I say it's no surprise that Sony wants to give the game another chance.

This, basically

wut.

The game was a launch title on a system that only JUST hit 2.2 million units. I'd hardly say this was the fault of anything other than Vita's poor performance. It's not like other Vita titles are selling gangbusters by comparison.

Considering that the Japanese market predominantly handheld centric, I personally don't think this is too much of a problem.

Will gladly double dip to play with friends that are over.
Will probably come with the Vita version too.
This can only be seen as a bad thing on Gaf, it is ridiculous/

This game wouldn't have pushed me to own a Vita btw. I don't understand how an losing an exclusive game that is much better enjoyed on a console is "crippling".

Minna no Golf on PSP was a launch title as well, and sold three or four times Minna no Golf on Vita. Bigger install base, of course, but this doesn't mean that Sony was happy with such sales. Minna no Golf was used to see at least 400k units sold in Japan alone.

Gears of War sales went up after the first had a PC port, there was no real precedent though since 2 and 3 were never ported which sucks ass through a straw. But it wasn't known at the time that there wouldn't be.

This had been heavily hinted at since the Vita version came out from what I remember, and as slow as ClapHanz operates I'm sure the decision was made a long-ass time ago.

It'll be nice to be reunited with friends from PS3 HSG5 who stuck with that game and didn't pick up a Vita. And I'm sure the server population by whenever it comes out in US/EU could use a boost.

I hope Sony know what they are doing...more games for PS3 this late means less software for PS4.

From the looks of it, we might have a PS Vita type situation on PS4 with the lack of games (especially if MS goes money hat crazy)

It is the second highest selling Vita game in Japan ...

So what? It is still a big disappointment sales-wise compared to any other installment of the saga.

Minna no Golf PSP was at >370k at this point
Minna no Golf 5 was at >380k at this point

Last numbers we had, Minna no Golf 6 was at barely 100k + PSN sales. That's a big failure.

Next: Gravity Rush

I'd laugh, and then cry.

I only expect this to happen to games that can benefit from a crossplay feature. The're going to push the hell out of that along with crossbuy. So games like Uncharted, Gravity Rush and Tearaway should be off limits.

Great accounting for userbase differences? If Sony had managed to get Vita above 10k a week this would certainly be a game that likely would be bought alongside it.

It is bad news because it sets a precedent for a platform that desperately needs every piece of exclusive content it can get. SCEJ has never ported a handheld game to a console before. In this thread you already have people asking when they can expect the Gravity Rush port. This is literally the only branch of SCE that I never expected to pull this, and yet here we are.

i dont understand this thinking... you buy PSP for portable gaming, why would it need exclusive games compared to PS3? They should not make golf games for PS3 anymore so people who want to play golf on Playstation, they will have to buy PSP?

That doesnt seem right.

They didnt port PSP games before because they were too technically inferior... now they are not, so I cant understand what is the problem. It is a good thing.
