Not that bad. A little slow, boring at times, pretty normal plot as well. Did like the fortune animals appearing again and doing stuff so that's pretty cool.

There's your character development! Ichiko flashback and some other stuff as well as the most obscure One Piece reference you could make. Good stuff.

Looks like next week gives us a filler character and a story that they skipped. Hmmm... Hope that character doesn't take up so much time that they don't get to the arc I want them to.

Only read that final paragraph of the write up but the person makes it sound like Kirito is bland, he is far from the truth. At least theres action moments this week and I guess actual plot advancement, kind of cant wait, and Kirito looked nice in that one scene on the couch.
I assumed that the write up would be some spoilery preview thing, but you made me go back and read through it. Anyone else think he's totally off the mark on some points?

The character designs are appealing, the animation is really expressive, it's not a harem because all of the girls other than Asuna came and went in one or two episodes never to return, and Kirito isn't so much bland as he is unoriginal and shallow since he's just MMO Hei with a functioning feelsbladder.

I agree with him about the music, though. If I never hear that ARE YOU SAD YET? strings piece again, it will be too soon.

Yeah, pretty much. I haven't seen much noitaminA but if Guilty Crown is any indication I should approach it with some level of caution.

Guilty Crown is the complete opposite of what Noitama usually does, although they have ventured into the typical otaku shounendom anime's in the past few years, and failed spectacularly.

I think Horizon and Queen's Blade are on my pretend backlog so that I can still say that I'll watch anything with her in it but not actually do it. lol

Alternatively, just watch One Off to watch her pretend to be a blonde :chet girl from Australia, complete with "gaijin-Japanese"!

Well, I haven't seen Queen's Blade so I'm not actually sure what that even is yet but I think Horizon is okay. I kind of find it like Seikon no Qwaser in that it has some really interesting ideas but then there is a bunch of unnecessary fan service as well.

Yu Kobayashi's character is actually really awesome in my opinion and she might even be my favorite. I really love her character design too. The anime character designs are certainly better than the novel designs in that some of the really busty girls don't seem quite as much so. Some don't like it but personally I like the varied, quirky cast that's been set up. It kind of reminds me of maybe a JRPG or something like that.

My other complaint might be that the story seems interesting but it's set up in a rather confusing way and it seems having some sort of encyclopedia or addendum is necessary. I know some hate that type of thing but I actually don't mind it. I have a couple books from a sci-fi trilogy called Evergence and the whole back of each book is a glossary of terms and I think there's a timeline and stuff like that but the bit I've read so far it's a really interesting story. Oh well, people will always have varying interests.

I'm actually not sure who all is watching the show other than Lain, cosmicblizzard, DTL and myself.

Also, I still have yet to see the first part of One Off but I think I'll get to it soon.

Yeah, they were surprised at that as well. Kibe suggested that it was because Nintendo wanted to promote the fact that there are various locals in the game.

That works, even though I don't consider it a game in the adventure genre, I could still see it as going on a big adventure.

I thought his blasts were responsible for forming that crater for the lake anyway, though, Though I imagine he just used a really flashy attack that managed to have great accuracy for the AOE.

Yeah, in the end I guess it was just supposed to look more flashy for visual effects.

I just want to mention that we are now 2,750 posts away from |OT3|! We can do it! Ganbatte, Animu-GAF!

The current Wall of Shame (cut-off at 100):

I figured with my posting I would pass 100 posts but I doubt I'll ever get to that 300 or 400+ range. I'm not really sure who all is reading my posts anyway.

On the other hand they also ventured into typical otaku romance/melodrama nonsense and got their most successful show ever.

I thought Guilty Crown was good for them, with all those high disc sales.

Aw I loved this episode. Nice action moments with the guard droids, Fasad was really good and he and Shingen's convos led to hilarious moments, and I kind of wanted to meet that Mikhail he was obsessed with, Shingen was good with all her jutsus. Space setting worked wonders.

Sengoku Warriors IN SPACE! The next big Capcpom hit!

This was a pretty good episode. It was if anything pretty whimsical. A nice story about a sengoku general finding herself in a space station, befriending a hot water boiler (which are awesome) and fighting against the A.I. of the space station to save Russia from being laser practice.

But, everything worked in the episode. The two main characters were fun, no one looked terrible, no melodramatic parts, it was all a fun space adventure to save Mother Russia.

This show is so weird.

The Light of El Cantare
Jinrui 08:

Maybe that would have been an interesting idea for an episode if the series was twice the length that it is, but
replaying the events of the previous episode except with a focus shift to Assistant
is too much precious time allocated for not enough benefit.
Did Assistant actually need to be fleshed out at all? I mean, I thought his purpose was to serve as a comedic foil to Watashi's verbosity. Especially in a comedy, it's okay for supporting characters to be static as long as they have a defined purpose and serve it well.

I certainly thought that the secret behind his disappearance in the previous episode was interesting, but the events of this episode easily could have been integrated into the previous episode with some skillful editing and perhaps the omission of a couple of the time loops.

I thought it was pretty funny and weird at one point in time and I liked seeing the characters in this style. Funniest scene for me was with
megane Taku seeing Kuroyukihima on Haru and then motioning for Chiyu to do the same to him
.

Also loved when, ending spoiler
Scarlet Rain came and fired off at Ash Roller, lol

I didn't know there was a special! when did this come out?

Escaflowne 1-2

I've never gotten around to watching this, but better late than never. Off to a good start so far :). Love the art, especially Escaflowne's design.

Escaflowne is one of those series that I have rewatched a lot. There's something timeless about it, even though the story is pretty straightforward, but it is a very fun watch. I even like the noses of the characters. I also has some really beautiful music. I like the dub as well. They did a pretty good job with it. Merle is hnnngh.

Damn this thread moves fast, thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I've already watched Summer Wars (didn't like it too much but it was good) and Redline (effing awesome).

Based on your suggestions I'll try Genius Party, Genius Party Beyond, One Piece Movie 6, Mai Mai Miracle and Colorful.

Oooh Studio 4C stuff. NICE. Enjoy!

By the way, there are two shows called Colorful so be careful which one you watch lol.
Unless you love pantsu.

All I know about it is giant boobs and a guy that likes to run around naked. lol

Geneijin was a fan, but I don't think he's watched season 2 yet.

Wanna hear a good joke? Waste your time helping me! LOL!
I don't think they're that bad.

I almost feel like my dislike for their designs is irrational at this point. It's got something to do with the eyes and the mouth, probably the lack of a nose too (which is weird because a lot of anime characters lack noses).

And every time I see them I remember that dancing hell video that was linked in this thread (it was linked by Dance in my Blood).

This may be an odd question, but does anybody have any recommendations for entertaining Anime podcasts? I'd like to broaden my knowledge a little bit, and its one avenue that's distinctly lacking for in my podcast library. To this end, I've listened to a smattering of content already, with mixed results. The shows that I've attempted to listen to have either been very dry, or the personalities have just been too abrasive to tolerate.

I guess I should bend and watch Nise (other than episode 08 which couldn't be missed under any circumstance)
The lack of Senjou in it was a huge turnoff but Shinobu looks cute. Maybe I can watch that part at least.

Look at this stuff:

It's like the Mami's room changes, but to a smaller degree.

This is the weirdest and worst sort of change you could make to a show. I can't even tell which is "before" and "after" because there's no objective view of one being better or worse than the other, they're both simply completely different background and setting designs. It's really.... bizarre. >_<

Why is it bad, though? It's just different. I find these changes fun.

The BRD shots look objectively better to me. There's more detail, deeper and more realistic scenes, and more proportional characters. Too bad Nise wasn't worth fixing the art on.
