I have a hard time imagining the game will play well on an iphone or ipad though. Between a digital dpad and my finger obscuring the lower screen content I think the game would need some pretty heavy reworking. Even the menus had lots of small icons and buttons. Playing with my fat finger does not seem ideal.

The iPhone screen is too small to fit both screens of TWEWY on it. Either the port will substantially rework the combat system (or just cut out the partner side entirely), or it'll be unplayable.

Now that I think about it... it was pretty obvious it was going to be a port or something... the website link just had subaseka, not subaseka 2 or something. They got voice actors for the main cast and decided to keep them even for Rhyme who only had a few lines in the game. The music in the website are just remixed tracks of the first one... I started realizing how obvious it was and that's when I definitively toned my hype down. Oh, well.

Concerning the voice actor stuff, maybe this will be a really, really good remastering with hd assets, obviously redone music, and be fully voiced. That would be pretty awesome. But the chosen platform still sucks. Why not release it on the 3ds eshop as well? They could keep the original controls that way.

The World Ends With You is one amazing franchise that will not end up as a shitty browser/iOS game.

I think this is the real deal; the 3DS game we have all been waiting for.

Uhhh, no? The World Ends With You is a game that works either on 3DS or WiiU. The core gameplay would have to be compromised to work on pretty much any other platform.

I'm sure SE knows that their have a gem with this franchise, so they are not gonna waste resources on other platforms. Besides, for being a quirky, new IP RPG, it performed pretty well on DS. It has the chances of achieving even greater success as a 3DS exclusive, considering how extremely well it's selling in Japan.

Be hyped. I'll cut my thumbs live (JustinTV) if this isn't a proper sequel for TWEWY.

Listen to that fucking awesome remix and tell me with a straight face this is a game for mobile and pc..... or some sort of spin-off.

No, but it needs good controls, specially for a game like The World Ends With You.

Nomura has said the team wants to do TWEWY 2, and there was some sort of confirmation just recently that the game exists. With TGS around the corner, it makes sense to announce the game a few week earlier and then have it playable at the event.

We, who want a proper TWEWY sequel, will be very happy in one week.
