FF Versus not going to be at TGS

Didn't they say that after XIII-2 was done, they'd focus all their resources on getting Versus done? And now they're saying sorry, we're not showing Versus because we're working on Lightning Returns and concentrating on that?

Seriously, what the ever-loving fuck is going on at that company.

I think this is in the right order:

---2006---
FFXIII announced
FF VERSUS XIII announced
FF AGITO XIII announced
---2009---
FFXIV announced
FFXIII released
---2010---
FFXIV released
---2011---
FFXIII-2 announced
FF AGITO XIII renamed to FF TYPE-0
FF TYPE-0 released
FFXIII-2 released
---2012---
FFXIV A REALM REBORN re-launch announced
LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII announced
---2013---
FFXIV A REALM REBORN released
LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII released

It's insane... :(

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Whatever fucking crazed politics that are going on at SE Japan thats giving Toriyama all the support, workforce and budget to shit out 3 FF13's while Nomura has to sit on the naughty step with Versus languishing in dev hell needed to fucking end 2 years ago.

Honestly they deserve a mutiny leading to a Platinum Games situation (not a Mistwalker one ta), where Nomura takes the talented PSP teams (Birth by Sleep, Type-0) and whoevers been loyally plugging away at Versus and forms a new jRPG startup. Beyond Eidos stuff, Square seems plenty fucking dead to me.

I can't imagine SE having a pleasant work environment. I'd wager things are super tense and messed-up behind closed doors. I mean, surely they can't be oblivious to the massive backlash for the direction they've headed in overall this gen. (Downward to the bottom of the barrel.) That can't be a moral booster for their internal culture at the company, and yet they just keep on staying the course.

Fucking Square. Get your shit together. Goddamn. Its not even shocking anymore. The wait for it is not even cool, at least with Duke Nukem, it was cool. But this, I vomit.

Having spend hours into this game i can argue that it wouldn't have been the same game if it was made for a console that supportted HD ..
But i'll stop there as it's not the point on this thread ...it's to cry in anger as Square enix refuse to present a game they are making untill they feel it's ready ..

what crazy people

they were so excite though...

Ok, this is hilarious

We should start taking bets.

Which would come out first.

The Last Guardian
FFVersusXIII

These two are definitely contenders for the Duke Nukem Forever vaporware title.

Oh, well I agree with you there. It's one of the games where you can tell the limits that the Wii brought with it was more a help than a hindrance. Still think it looks awesome though, some of the areas at night are beautiful.

That's not so much a bet as a crap shoot. Although, if The Last Guardian and Versus XIII never come out, they will both be better games than Duke Nukem Forever.

So was the Noctis drawing with the "Not forgotten" translation real? Cause at this point I think Versus is lost in time.

Not surprising. As far as I'm concerned, this game still doesn't exist.

I think I'd be more disappointed if we'd seen substantial footage of the game, but at this point Versus isn't even a blip on my radar.

I'd say there's a 50% chance it has been moved to next-gen and that explains the absolute secrecy at this point, or it's just straight up canceled and they're too embarrassed to admit it.

I don't have the quote, but when Nomura said in Famitsu that something has happened and he can no longer talk about it, that tells me the platform has switched to PS4/Xbox 720.

This relatively newer quote also supports my belief:

PS3 version of Last Remnant. :/
Anyway, this is definitely disappointing. I guess FFXHD will not show up at TGS too. Ah well...

I think we should all just assume this game won't see the light of day until the next generation is here. At least that way there's a chance we'll be pleasantly surprised, provided the devs get their act together.

Ironic how prophetic and appropriate the tagline for the game is at this point.

"The figure that still lies asleep in the Fantasy."

Both PC and PS3 versions of FFXIV were announced in 2009 but only the PC version came out.

This game will NEVER come out. It's vaporware. The only reason they keep teasing its existence is to keep old SE fans chomping at the bit until something worthwhile gets a legitimate release. Anyone who believes different is a sucker.

Will be hilarious when this is released holiday next year as a multiplat to justify the development time. Won't even need to buy myself a PS3.

Yeah, it'll most probably end up being a multiplatform title. However, IMO you should get yourself a PS3 regardless, if you're into JRPGs.

So, being realistic, can we expect this game to release at least in 2014? my guess is it will look pretty outdated then, unless they rebuild it on their new Luminous engine.

I'm almost one hundred percent certain Versus is now next-gen/Luminous and will be XV whenever it launches.

Its the only reason I can see them being so tight lipped about it, but asking fans to trust and wait.

I just realized. Maybe they're trying to distance themselves from FFXIII and FFXIII-2 by using Lightning Returns as some kind of refresh/reboot point, so when Versus releases, people won't have that bad taste of XIII in their mouths. . . .

For some reason, I can't help but keep watching a pair of glasses go flying everywhere without falling out of the boat.

They also stated that fans would be "amazed" next time they saw how the game looks, so that is pretty much a dead give away it has been moved next-gen. The unusually long development time probably has to do with the fact that they are going back and redoing the in-game assets in crazy resolutions, referring to how Luminous is basically just CGI work that is partially lowered in quality so it can run in realtime.

It all is very believable if you read between the lines. I expect us all to eat crow and have some faces melted sometime next year.

I'm surprised Nomura hasn't walked out on Square-Enix by this point. The fact that the guy can be involved in a design, producing and/or directing capacity on titles like TWEWY, Dissidia, Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance while development of this game has been ongoing certainly lends to the idea that management has been dicking the guy around. Kitase gives Toriyama the budget and workforce while Nomura reminisces about the Gooch (don't quote me on this).

I'd say Nomura is to blame just as much as anyone else, if not more. He probably bit a too much with the project.

Tetsuya Nomura involves himself in too many projects. Combine that with SE's production issues this gen and it's no wonder Versus isn't out yet.
