FF Versus not going to be at TGS

You know I would be okay with them not releasing this game in maybe a decade or 2. But they shouldn't have released a trailer every year to keep the hype alive.

I don't have the quote, but when Nomura said in Famitsu that something has happened and he can no longer talk about it, that tells me the platform has switched to PS4/Xbox 720.

Quite possible. No wonder they haven't even made up a trailer or shown images since that 2011 trailer.

I was not expecting Versus (I am one of those who would actually be surprised to see the game still alive), but I was expecting some Type-0 announcement. Maybe even a Vita port...

What in the world does S-E have for TGS then? LR: XIII?

I don't think they'll have a chance of quietly dropping it like that rumour said.

That might've worked for a lower-profile title like the PS3 version of The Last Remnant, but it won't work for Versus, people will continue to ask about it.

Or 20 months, maybe. Launch window-ish. I can hope. Maybe then the game will run at a real 720p resolution, at a steady 30 or 60 fps and nice anti aliassing. If it lanches his gen it will just be underwhelming anyway

skip on current gen to make it a launch title and sell really terribly? Square Enix isn't the one launching major FFs as launch title for any platform, these games always need some user base to build up first (specially in their home market). This was their reasoning for FF14 actually.

square really screwed up this gen they used to be really good in psx days 3 main ff and other new games but now they just blow at this rate the next installment will take 8 years at least 0_o

This. There is no way Versus will be a next gen game. It will be launched late in this gen. Thats it. Chill guys.

Well..usually games that take too long time in development hell end up to be bad/flawed (Duke Nukem Forever,Postal 3, Afrika, L.A. Noire, Alan Wake,Diablo 3,Rage,Twilight Princess) but there are other that end very good (Half Life 2, SOTC,RDR) so not all of them .Versus XIII could end up being a really bad too, but let hope for the best here.

Maybe they're bluffing but they seem really confident with the title lately. As if it's the most ambitious and greatest title they've ever made. They also gave a hint that it will be released in 2013.
Still it sucks that it won't be at TGS (at least in the public show). Nomura said they'll show it again 'soon' which might refer to this year.

The next time they show it, they better reveal everything. Updated features, release date... all that. That's all I gotta say...

Well, once they release Lightning's game and XIV in the next year, I expect a huge focus on Versus. If that doesn't happen, then I'll call DOU (Dead On Unaravial).

Doubt it. Next year's focus will clearly be LR. I could see Versus showing up at e3 2014 at the earliest, but next year's e3 and TGS are booked.

And I wouldn't put any stock in what some SE exec says about the game's quality. These guys will also say FFXIII is some incredible masterpiece.

well Xbox 3 and PS4 will be getting announced-most likely- at E3 2013, so if SE change Versus XIII to a next gen title I think next E3 is very possible since they will need to re-show it there.

Not showing new footage isn't a sign of anything. It makes perfect sense for Square Enix to hold new footage of it back while they focus their marketing on games that will be coming out beforehand (LR, XIV 2.0, Tomb Raider and Hitman to be specific).
