Game Informer's exclusive New Super Mario Bros. U trailer

Nintendo has been making a big push to emphasize the multiplayer potential of the Wii U, but players are welcome to explore the Mushroom Kingdom on their own in New Super Mario Bros. U. Free from the shackles of his gangly brother Luigi and the Toads, Mario has nobody to push him off a ledge or refuse to pop his bubble in this newly released video. Watch the trailer below to see new environments, the mini mushroom, and some of Yoshi's new abilities in action.

NSMBU has to be one of the best looking games I've ever seen. It's simply gorgeous! And I cannot wait to pick this up on launch day.

It looks decent, but its just a bit... sterile. Nintendo has it in them to make games with fantastic visual styles, but this just looks too clean. Very visually unexciting.

I'm sure it'll still be at least fun though.

It looks so fresh and colorfull! And thank god for some slight change in music

I wouldn't use the word "fresh".

Its sharp and colourful. Its also incredibly similar to the rather bland artstyle of the last three New Super Mario Bros. games. The Koopaling battle looks like the exact same animation in fact.

I'm going to play this - and it looks fun, but the artistry and design is about as fresh as Dry Bones taking a dump.

Slightly off-topic, but it literally just occurred to me that the Starry Night level with the Boos is a "Van Goghst House"

i can't wait to see what they'll be doing with 3D mario... that's going to look astonishing.

ps: am i the only one who just noticed that mini mario can walk on walls?

pps: HD vibrant colors... finally!

Looks absolutely insane. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I really like the New! Series of Mario games. I'll never understand the hate.

it's still a little too "New Super Mario Bros." but damn it that main theme is the best thing to come out of the series since the Sunshine main theme.

Read the title as new Super Smash Bros. U trailer and almost had a heart attack.
Still good though, haha. Looks great, definitely picking it up on release.

The theme is actually good and the game certainly looks really nice, but there I still see a lot of redone things in the level design.

I don't get what's so bland about the NSMB art style.

The only problem for me is that it has the plasticy shine which they got rid of in NSMB2 but not this game.

Apart from that it's pretty much the same art style that's been in all the SMB games just reimagined in 3D.

Sorry to be a combo breaker, but to me it's not impressive. Looks like the 6 year old DS game with better resolution. After Rayman Origins and now Legends this just looks mediocre.

It looks like a ton of fun.

I really hope the prices of Wii Remote Pluses go down. I only have one Wii Remote Plus and one Wii MotionPlus dongle. I'd really like to upgrade at a reasonable price.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much

2D Mario will never have a complex art style, it has to be something that is playable by 5-85 year olds and that prioritizes clear visibility and predictability of character movements over visual bells and whistles. The backgrounds are about as fancy as it's going to get.

Anyway, it looks like a great game.
