I don't get what's so bland about the NSMB art style.
The only problem for me is that it has the plasticy shine which they got rid of in NSMB2 but not this game.
Apart from that it's pretty much the same art style that's been in all the SMB games just reimagined in 3D.
♫ WAH! WAH! ♫Looks nice. Music is awful though.
Sorry to be a combo breaker, but to me it's not impressive. Looks like the 6 year old DS game with better resolution. After Rayman Origins and now Legends this just looks mediocre.
I think the level design they showed in the trailers for NSMB2 was kinda blah. They seem to be pretty good at not spoiling a lot of the HOLY SHIT! moments before you play the game.Keen, but level design looks a little bland. Strange too, coming off the back of the excellent NSMB2 level design. NSMBU hasn't clicked with me yet, even if I'm going to launch day it anyway.
No. Watch it at home for glorious 60fps!

it's still a little too "New Super Mario Bros." but damn it that main theme is the best thing to come out of the series since the Sunshine main theme.
I know, it just doesn't have much depth to it, which gets on my nerves. I'd love it if they took advantage of the technology and gave it a 3D look (like LittleBigPlanet's depth, obviously not the same aesthetic, though) with the smooth, plastic, 2D style. Kind of like what SM3DL had going for it at points, except make it purely 2D platforming.
I think that would go against what they're trying to achieve in the SMB games though, everything that you can stand on needs to be instantly recognisable in a split second. If they started fucking about with depth I feel like they'd lose some of that.
I feel like this is actually the least consistent NSMB game yet. Maybe of all mainline Mario games..Looks okay. Still not impressed with the NSMB art style in general.
Yes. That's why they release it, they hope we will judge it to be good and buy the game.Is it fair to judge that stuff from trailers?
dat framerate
was 60 right? Should put that argument to rest...
Is it fair to judge that stuff from trailers? Unlike Movies and other games, Nintendo always shows just a fraction of their Mario games, always from the first, simpler levels.
You and your crazy orchestra hatred.
This track is decent, but doesn't even touch Galaxy's best picks.
That makes sense. I guess it's just something I should embrace.

Looks good, but I think they should title the series differently. And that NEW! badge part of the logo makes it look cheap for whatever reason.
Like I said I would.Eh, I wouldn't. Same recycled style of music and art. But boy is it pretty.

Meh. I really wish Nintendo games dropped in price like other games. I'd only pay about $40 for this.

Lush art, orchestrated/instrumental music, (level editor?)Why? and What would make you pay $60?
I am paying $40 for it!
E3 pre-order deals yay
nsmb2 kind of surprised me as well, so I can see where you're coming from here.Keen, but level design looks a little bland. Strange too, coming off the back of the excellent NSMB2 level design. NSMBU hasn't clicked with me yet, even if I'm going to launch day it anyway.
Since this is a launch title, wouldn't be surprised seeing a 2D Mario in another vein/artstyle in the WiiU gen. Most likely without the "new" label. Kinda like Yoshi's Island was so different to SMW.
The "New!" it's already ingrained in that style and music, can't ditch it, specially when it has been so successful sales wise.

I'll find a place to pay $80 for it.
Getting it cheap is an affront to the Iwata!

It looks like NSMB Wii.
I'm not paying $300 for this.
