Halo |OT9| One Final Effort Is All That Remains

It's a grenade...it should be able to be shot.

JUST LIKE THE FLAG POLE SHOULD COUNT AS A PHYSICAL OBJECT AND HAVE BULLETS BOUNCE OFF OF IT.

How the hell am I the only one that thinks both should be true? I don't get it.

This is the realism vs good gameplay issue, except for the grenades. That shit ain't even real.

Rendering H2 at 3840x2160 can't hide the limitations of 2001 hardware

Why not? It's done baby!

Edit: i get what you're saying. I didn't mean completely open people can just snoop around and shit. I meant Gold as in, shit is final.

More like lead times for what they send to cons. although I though NYCC was closer, not sure if two weeks would be enough for them to get a final retail code setup going.

Yep, this so much.

I've heard them being compared to killstreaks and that's so far from the truth. Most killstreaks from COD are passive sequences where the AI takes over for you, but ordnance drops require actual player involvement and skill.

It still means good players will get added advantage. That guy that's kicking everyone's ass? He just got rockets, as a reward for kicking everyone's ass. It's tempered and less automatic, but still a mechanic I'd prefer stay far away from Halo. So long as it's out of the playlists I'll be in (and it will, thank goodness), it won't be an issue, though. The ordnance drop system is far more problematic, IMO.

Oh yeah those.

I personally think we've had more than enough media/info. Bring on the final game.

I think that's kind of where I'm at too. Which is funny because I've been criticizing 343 for letting out info too slowly, now it's like I'm being waterboarded with info a month before the game comes out.

Likewise. I haven't really seen any of the new footage or touched any of the Campaign demos (nor seen screenshots). I'm sold. I just need to hibernate for a month and change.

Stuff I want to know about between now and release:

Commendations
Challenges
Ranking system(s)
Launch playlists
File sharing
Waypoint overhaul for launch
Theater!?!?!
I can't wait to see Halo 4's Powerhouse troll jump.

I don't think there will be one. I never got snagged on any jump on any map I played. You can correctly judge all the jumps because the maps were built to accommodate your thankfully high jump height. Map movement is quite fluid.

And I still, with every game of Reach, get snagged on something.

What do you want to know about challenges?

Just realized it's going to be a bit hard to make direct comparisons of any press shots of Ragnarok to Valhalla, as Halo 3 screenshots are still in limbo... damnit.

A more robust system has been hinted at a few times. I'm primarily interested in whether Reach's system is used. Reach has static templates in place, coded into the game, where only the count (kill X guys) and credit payouts can be altered. I'm hoping they have a more dynamic system in place more akin to the custom challenge system.

Beyond that, I'm interested in whether the daily/weekly structure is kept, etc. Right now all we know is the system exists (we've seen Challenges in menus). Even with Reach's limitations, I loved'em and want to see the system expanded upon in Halo 4.

Been watching some of the videos of Flood on Complex. That map looks really big; it has a bunch of buildings with multiple rooms and multiple levels.

That can't be meant for 5v5 can it? It looks like a BTB map. Either way it looks like it could be a fairly good map. Aesthetically it looks great.

Who is the scrub who didn't even attempt to shoot you on the ramp on the 3rd kill? hahaha

Only thing they need to show is the rest of the MP maps. Oh, and a MP vidoc.

I think his sniper bullet hit the flag pole. LOL GET SHIT ON BY A STUPID ASS MECHANIC.

Yes.

Also, I'd appreciate direct-feed footage of any and all new maps and gametypes. I don't care if they don't show another minute of campaign or SpOps, because those are things I want to experience blind, but multiplayer content can't be 'spoiled' as far as I'm concerned.

Long since felt they should be uploading weekly matches of top players playing one another with dev or fan commentary, like Starcraft 2's 'Battle Reports' (e.g., http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gcs52bErU4).

Instead we get shakycam, off-screen, glare-heavy footage of scrubs fumbling with things they don't yet understand or know how to use.

Am I the only one who hopes that Complex is one of the Forge environments lol.. That map is just too large and complex for my liking, right now at least. Aesthetically it reminds me of Boardwalk and it looks to play like a Halo PC BTB map. These kind of maps work best in a game like Halo 1 where people die in first encounters.

Looks like it might be a good Dominion map though, so hopefully it won't turn out like Boneyard+Invasion.

v Ryan I know.. 'Twas a joke cuz that map looks ginormous..

OT but I just realized Dexter starts today ;] Say what you want but I have a feeling this season will be way better than the past 2.. Trinity Master Race

They already said since the very beginning none of the default maps use the Forge environments.

The Incinerator Cannon was the only Forerunner weapon that I didn't have hands on time with, however I did witness it being used a few times. It is definitely similar to the rocket launcher, but it looks like it had a greater area of effect. After the initial explosion a few smaller particles are dispersed that create smaller explosions within a certain radius. I witnessed a few people kill themselves because of the splash damage, this baby is lethal. I overheard talk that the residual explosive particles are actually physics based, so you better be aware of your surroundings--I'm talking about teammate killing prone players. In fact, I believe one such community manager might want to take note.
Physics based? Awesome.

Fantastic write-up Biggy.

Knowing that November 6th i get £600 worth of Halo Goodies? Very well.

Damn. I wouldn't even need that many stuff. You'll have spent more on Halo alone than I'll have spent on all the games I'm buying this holiday season.

I'd feel guilty as hell for spending that much on fucking Halo.

Guardian is top tier Halo map design. La crème de la crème.
Bad version of Lockout. I mean, for a map that's basically slayer-oriented, it has terrible weapon/power up placements.

As for more H4 info that hasn't been released yet, I'd be interested in more gametypes they've built, or have returning. Lots of question marks all around. We know of CTF, Oddball, Dominion, and a two Slayers. King of the Hill, Assault, 1-flag/1-bomb variants, Plots, etc.
