You're missing what the reviewer said. I don't know if you tried the demo out or not, but there is a distinct difference between how healing worked then, and how it works now. Personally, I don't have a problem with it now, nor did I back in the day. It gives you more options on how to use resources. However, it is infinitely more complicated than it ever was, and part of that is due to how the inventory works in RE6.

More of a reboot than a sequel, but yeah, that could count.
I guess I'm looking for biggest deltas between hype/budget and critical reception. FFXIV 1.0 would definitely be a contender here, maybe the top one.

Well, I dunno if that's true for Mikami. He's now running Tango Gameworks which is owned by Zenimax, and he seems very happy so far with the support and funding he's getting. Zenimax is a huge AAA western publisher.
Yeah I enjoyed hearing about this a while back but I need to see what he puts out first before I comment about it. As for up until now though it hasn't been great for either party.

Yeah, this was best RE game in recent years. I still think that Capcom JPN is capable of making a great RE game, I just think they need to take a step back and see what's really important for the series.

I knew the previews for RE6 weren't great, but I didn't expect all of this. Hopefully they'll look at the positive reception for RE:Revelations and rethink their approach for the mainline games.
But this is Capcom we're talking about, so I won't hold my breath.

Capcom tried to go the Uncharted route with RE6, which kinda went wrong. Maybe they will try to rip off Naughty Dog again with RE7, but this time ripping off a game that suits the franchise.

I still don't see why people call REv a great game. It has all the problems 6 seems to have with it's bloated, inconsistant campaign, abhorrent writting and dialog, 'streamlined' gameplay, bad bosses, and some absolutely terrible pacing.

The ironic part is that replaying Revelations, that game was obviously a micro-sized preview of what RE6 turned out to be. Yet one worked and the other didn't.

After playing the demos and reading some of those reviews RE6 just doesn't exist for me.
