Rumour: GBA games finally coming to the Nintendo eshop?

C'mon Leaf Green, Zero Mission and Golden Sun!

Weirdly enough, two of my favourite GBA games were the original Broken Sword and DooM, both of which are much better played anywhere else. Put Doom on the eShop ID!

Nintendo doesn't even release 1 vc game each week. Do you really think they will release 3 in ONE week. Even if its not one week, they wouldn't release three in three weeks or anything.

Even if they did, they wouldn't all be Mario games. Theres still to much to release on GB and GBC.

There are just to many things that go against Nintendo's policy of one-two VC games a month at average.

That said, if its true then I will be excited, especially since I never played Mario Pinball and been wanting to finally beat M&L but I'm not holding my breath. If they do release them, they better fucking have a sleep mode.

I wonder if they will ever go back on their promise to not release the ten Ambassador GBA games. Some of them are among the best of the GBA library and it would be a shame for a lot of people to miss out on them.

Having had multiple iterations of GBA ~10 years ago and still owning all of the games, I couldn't give two fucks about this. You can count the worthwhile GBA games on two or three hands, and even some of those won't be worth the extortion Nintendo will undoubtedly try and charge for them.

If this is all the new Nintendo Direct is about I'd prefer to know so I just skip over it.

It happened when Game Gear launched on the service.

But yeah, even if this does end up panning out, I hope everyone's prepared to only see a single GBA title like, every three or so months.

Bit harsh, but the GBA is rather a strange system in that the majority of it's library is ports... from Final Fantasy to all the Mario games... it's pretty insane that there were zero original mainline Mario games on the GBA. I guess people were pretty enamoured with the idea of SNES games on the go, but damn.

.

And the Game Gear's got consistent releases since then, huh?

Superstar Saga, huh? The best game in the Mario & Luigi series for sure. Hopefully this turns out to be true.
How would scaling from the GBA resolution work on the 3DS anyway? Would it be able to do true 2x?

No, it can only do 1.5x scaling. Though on the GBA ambassador titles, it first scales to 2x then downscales from that to 1.5x, which gives slightly better results than just upscaling to 1.5x.

Which it's funny since it's one of the more well loved handhelds, granted there wasn't really much going on in the handheld arena compared to last generation and now.

Like I say, when I think of GBA, I think ports. Which was novel and pretty cool for the time, but for example in the case of Link to the Past or any of the Mario Advance titles, you're better off just porting the far superior and probably easy to emulate SNES versions.

I would throw so much money at GBA eShop games - I was way to poor to play more than a handful of them when the system was in full swing. :(

GBA games? Before we got any good GBC games? Yeah, screw that. I'm still waiting Super Mario Deluxe, LoZ: Oracle of Ages/Seasons, Donkey Kong Country, Wario Land 3 and Dragon Quest 3. There are a lot of games to come, I can wait for GBA games.

The fact that this hasn't happened yet is fucking mindblowing. Anyway, I'll finally be picking up a 3DS this year, so I'm EXCITE. I own all the great GBA games, but there are quite a few mediocre ones I still want to try out, like Mario Pinball. Hopefully the games aren't more than 5 bucks.

If nintendo actually got its shit together, there could be "official" gba imports too. Now that would be something.

Wouldn't the DKC on GBA be superior to the GBC version?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA NOOOO

EDIT: Oh wait, didn't notice the C in there. Yeah, it's probably better. DK Land isn't terrible though.

If it's true I'm honestly hoping for a $9.99 max price point.

I want this real bad. So many good GBA games that I'd potentially get to play but won't buy in cart form because of the massive amount of bootlegs out there.

Aren't SNES games $8? If they're more than that, Nintendo's nuts.

Hey here's an idea for Nintendo, maybe they can try determining pricing on a per-game basis rather than charging a flat rate based exclusively on what console they're on. Maybe they'd make more money that way.

SMBDX and DQ3 will never happen, and DKC GBC will probably never happen.

I thought the best GBA games where the 3rd party ones which will probably never see the day on it

Almost all of the companies that made good GBA games are still in business and it's not like the 3DS VC doesn't already have games from 3rd parties on it.

SE hasn't released shit for it yet and they have one of the better GBA libraries, but Konami and Capcom have.

Here's an idea for you: look at the prices for GB/GG games on the 3DS and then tell me that's not exactly what they're doing right now.

You do know they do that already, right?

They... do? Have you checked the prices of GB games yet?

I wonder how this will end up not being GBA games on the VC.

Remember how Nintendo Australia had that one GBA pic on their page by mistake which meant there was a new "RUMOR: GBA GAMES COMING?!?!" thread every other week until someone finally yelled at them to pull it down a year later?

Until Nintendo announces something, it aint happening, kids.

Seeing as my current go-to game on my commute is Metroid Fusion, I approve of this. Before the XL, I would have been entirely unconcerned with this news. But having a comfortable 3DS with usable d-pad changes things entirely.

Did they patch in 'close the lid and your 3DS won't drain of all its battery life' yet

Turn off your wireless, spotpass, and streetpassing feature if you really need it to last on something like a plane ride. It'll improve the charge time a lot.

No they didn't. This will probably never happen unless they actually start using GBA emulators instead of playing them in DS compatibility mode. It sure would be nice though.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
This would be amazing. Mario Golf Advance? Yes, please!

Also, I have no clue what "Super Mario Ball" is.

GB + GBC = maybe 20 good games, tops

GBA = SO MANY IT IS GLORIOUS

That obviously means we'll never see GBA. Also, Iwata, you promised me that these Ambassador GBA would never be available for sale!
