I do not want to get spoiled on this game, so I'm fuckin' out! I'll check in from time to time. I need to get some shit done before the game comes out anyway.

Slayer Pro sounds excellent in many ways, but I'm still pretty hyped for Infinity.

I wonder what the longest non-infinite game parameter there is in the custom ptions. How high do the timers go and how many points without it being a neverending thing?

LTTP but what the fuck 343i. Code for "hold X to pickup flag/RT to drop" has been in the engine since Halo 2. How much damage could it have possibly done to the "new multiplayer vision" to include it as a custom game option. I can't WAIT to not be able to do cool shit like flag handoffs when I'm playing competitive CTF.

I'm sure it will be bearable in big team battle, but getting stuck with a flagnum when playing whatever MLG settings end up being is gonna be infuriating.

Yea, I don't know how we'll live without Stockpile, Headhunter, Invasion, & Juggernaut. Oh, you were serious...

Only bad thing about Slayer Pro is ONE nade, ugh. I'll never figure out why the devs always think one nade some how makes the game more competitive or pro. Well, other than that, I wish it had some objective in it as well, but the plebs would shy away I'm sure. (more so than they already will!)

Honestly at this point, I'm most excited to play Oddball/Dominion/CTF. I've never been much of a slayer fan...

Was the Extraction thing real? Sounds like an interesting gametype. Extraction in Socom was amazing, but I don't know how you could make that work in Halo...

Yeah especially because you can't drop the flag. There should be a button to press to prevent people from accidentally getting stuck with the flag. I see myself trying to BR an enemy only to accidentally strafe over the flag and die.

Flag dropping should have been a custom option, but man, they had to try something to shake CTF up for the general masses. I seriously couldn't tell you the last time a team even scored a single flag on me in regular matchmaking (barring Zealot trap attempts!), if this some how speeds it up & allows teams to maybe threaten at least, I'm all for it. I still doubt it will help though...

Also, good riddance to 1 Flag. Many hours of my life have been wasted waiting on rounds to end in a 5 v 1 game after the 2nd round.
 
-Join in progress is in effect all throughout the game, even map/gametype selection

-Ordnance options are customizable, including their weight in the in-game ordnance selection

-You can emulate classic weapon/powerup spawns

I've been out of the loop; there's no mode or playlist that allows you to drop the flag, and that's not changeable in custom games either? Am I reading this wrong?

Also if 1-flag is out fuck that. 1-Flag was our primary gametype.

CTF and most objective gametypes are in dire need of drop in/drop out settings.

If someone ragequits, let someone else take the place.
 
Reading through TTW right now, there is some inconsistency with Frankie / FUD with regard to the use of "sir" vs. "ma'am". The latter is all over this book.

Is it me, or does the banshee go through the ground near the end of this video?

The Ghost is not floaty enough and flips easily when there's no terrain under one of the sides for half a second and the Banshee is ugly and just spazzing all over the place, they both look to perform similar to how they did in Reach, which was utter shit with none of the grace and smoothness of how they were in the first 4 Halo games.

And seeing the guy drop the BR on the beginning made me cringe, if he's a gaffer I need a name.

If his secondary was a plasma pistol, I can kinda forgive this considering it's a vehicle-heavy map.

Well, the dynamic it introduced still exists. In 4, neither team can return the flags. You essentially have two games of 1-flag going on at once. What I mean is that when you stop the enemy carrying your flag in an old 1-flag game, generally you would defend between the flag and the enemy spawn, right? Well that's the same thing that's required in 4 except now you're juggling that and trying to push the enemy flag too.

I can't wait to play it. I think my initial fears are how prevalent sprinting to get a touch and tipping it back to stop it returning will be.

In theory all the objective games were fun. When introduced to the real world that got winnowed very quickly.

(Stockpile I liked because it wasn't the same 'dong on the flag carrier' element of CTF, but in practice it just became people suiciding to throw flags out of the zone and just denying scores instead of actually racking up points. Headhunter at least played mostly like default FFA, but it rarely came up for me.)

Watching the Bravo video, Kevin says "your flag doesn't have to be at home to score now"
... it hasn't for ages - Bungie quickly changed it in Reach. I have noticed he's said it several times as a reason why CTF is better now... it doesn't count if it's the same as before!
