Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed - Wii U Trailer

Mario Kart Wii sucked.

It was as souless as its menus.

That's very true. The first Sonic Racing was much better. If this new game continues all the first did right and makes it better, we're all in for a treat regardless of console. The handheld versions are a different story though since the first one was pretty damn bad.

Here's a Forbes interview with a publicist. The game footage is off-screen so it isn't great quality but at least it shows some racing action. Apologies if this has already been posted. Don't panic about the November 30 release date...that's for Europe, not the Americas.

The only thing enticing me about this one is the 39.99 price tag and 5 player multiplayer.

I think if it's on the eshop as a day 1 downloadable, I must just bite.

Seeing people playing with a sideways Wiimote made me want to vomit. Hopefully it supports the pro controller. Was worried about the game's shift to aerial racing, but that looked quite good. Sorta Diddy Kong Racing-ish. How many people are supported via online play on the Wii U version?

S0L said the game will support every possible controller input, Pro Controller included. 10 player online mode.

Yes to pro controller. 10 player online I believe.

According to the dev (NeoGAF poster S0L), the game supports every controller configuration they possibly could support. That means it will support the Pro controller and probably the Classic controller and Nunchuck, too.

Cool, I may have to convince my daughter to ask for this version for Xmas. It will come down to framerate, which looked good in the linked video.

Whichever version gets Segata Sanshiro gets my business.

I believe all versions will get Segata...altho based on his final commercial being on a Nintendo console/system is...weird.

@w00tkins- Aw, well hopefully they make it as DLC in the near future ^_^;

Since we have no Mario Kart

This game will have to do, and looks sorta fun

Oh, let me assure you that it is a Mario Kart, simply with Sega characters and no Blue shell.
And every character get a different "Star" item.
Like Sonic get Super Sonic, Tails start to fly, Amy Punch everybody with her hammer. But I find it kind of weird that they diminished the roaster by removing a lot of characters...
"
Character[14] Origin
Sonic the Hedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog
Miles "Tails" Prower Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Doctor Eggman Sonic the Hedgehog
Amy Rose Sonic the Hedgehog CD
Shadow the Hedgehog Sonic Adventure 2
AiAi5 Super Monkey Ball
Amigo5 Samba de Amigo
Billy Hatcher Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
Knuckles the Echidna Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Big the Cat Sonic Adventure
Beat Jet Set Radio
Ulala Space Channel
B.D. Joe Crazy Taxi
Zobio and Zobiko The House of the Dead: EX
Ryo Hazuki Shenmue
Jacky Bryant and Akira Yuki1 Virtua Fighter
Mobo and Robo1 Bonanza Bros.
Chuih, ChuBei, ChuPea and ChuBach1 ChuChu Rocket!
Opa-Opa Fantasy Zone
Alex Kidd5 Alex Kidd in Miracle World
"

I dont get why they removed a lot of variety. Lets hope the more to be announced are from many different games. Make for a lot of fun to see Billy Hatcher running around on his giant egg

There was some speculation over at ssmb that the super secret character could be Taro, the protagonist from Segagaga. I'd prefer him than segata to be honest.

Hmm mind linking to where this was mentioned/stated please?

From the Sonic Wiki:

So far, 29 playable characters (including three 3rd party characters) have been confirmed to appear in this game. It has also been said that the game will feature platform specific rosters, and no single platform has all 29 characters.

Heh that last line is confusing me, but from what I understand using this example-
Using at least 3 platforms: WiiU, PS3 and 360, does that mean that at least 2 of them will have 29 characters?

I need this. Soo many good launch games. My wallet am cry.

Will have to get this next year though.

No it wasnt. The DS version ran at a nice 60 FPS and had a crap load of content in it. It was impressive how muchthey put into it when handheld versions are usually given the shaft.

Alexios

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Isn't 60fps the standard on DS though, with devs having to go way out of their way to work around it and allow higher detail for 30?

If the DS game is what iOS got it's relatively impressive for the DS 3D wise but not really amazing or all that great to play imo.

But yeah, having a lot of content and features is a good thing of course.

Have there been any actual rumors of Segata Sanshiro being in this or is that just wishful thinking?

We know Wii U version will have the highest console framerate, and from the look of it the 60fps PC target is not that far away.

You got a source for that? The only thing I've seen is S0L saying that it will have slightly better textures. The framerates for all three consoles are targeted at 30fps, but I haven't heard anything to suggest which will be the most steady.

OF course he doesnt have a source for that.

That's not saying it's better than the others. It's saying they finally got it close to the targeted FPS but mentions nothing about consistency of framerate, which is a really awful thing for a dev to admit. Especially about a Kart game. Nintendo would never release a modern Mario Kart game that wasn't locked hard at 30 or 60. The only qualms I have about buying another Kart game from Sega is that they released the last game with an inconsistent framerate. That's a huge no-no for racing games, and is a big reason why Modnation Racers is such a terrible series. But for 40 dollars, I'm willing to give this a chance. Hopefully at that pricepoint more people support them. Last time it felt like no one bought it at full price and just kept waiting for it to drop and drop in price.

I've been hearing a lot of 60fps games for Wii-U, even if they were not 1080p

I hope this is one of those games

Unfortunately the devs themselves admit it won't be 60 unless you buy it on PC, which makes me want to shake them and ask why they didn't simply remove some graphical effects/items in order to lock it in at 60.

Following the links to the original source has him quite clearly saying that it is the closest of the 3 versions. I think its fair to say that these comments are referring to consistency.

Hmm, a problem. Might have to wait for the U version to land now instead of getting the PS3 one as planned next week.

Oh, and thanks for the link GDGF.
