Got the PS3 version right here. It tears constantly, and it's not locked at 30fps Welp.

If I get this game I'll be getting it on PC.

I really don't think this game has that much of an aliasing problem. Are you running 1080p, 720p - or something? I don't think this game has that many jaggies - at least no more than you'd expect.

This is what I have been saying. There are very few jaggies that I have noticed.

Aiii unreal engine on the PS3 strikes again. I always go 360 for all mult-plats really.
Hope they tidy it up a bit before launch.

Actually, no. It's a pretty recent build. The newest build, much refined after the show floors. It's close to the final product.

Common sense dictates like all demos from every publisher and developer since existence, had to have had planned this demo many months in advance. Not to mention approval and certification of a demo takes a long time as well. While this might be the most recent playable build, it's certainly not anywhere near the final code unless Ninja Theory stopped working on the game in May or some shit.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped working on this in May. I'm sure this game has been ready for a while now and they're just waiting for a lot of the competition to pass before release. I'm also certain they wanted PSASBR to release first, in order to get more support for the game just by being a guest star.

We've all seen the latest builds, like at NYCC. This demo has changes and refinements to those builds.

PS3 version strikes again.

I really don't like playing these games on the Xbox controller. I guess if I can put up with Bayonetta, I can deal with DmC.

Performance worse than Castlevania: LOS on PS3 & 360?

I've played like 30 seconds lol. It's really close to 30fps, so far a lot better than Castlevania. It's honestly virtually 30fps, just some drops here and there. Cut-scene is another deal, which I don't understand, the graphics are the same.

PSN sucks when it comes to downloading. Downloading 1GB worth of stuff on laptop? Two hours. Downloading 1GB worth of stuff on PS3? Forever...

Took me exactly 9 minutes to dl the DmC demo.

I just played and quite liked Under Watch, but holy shit is it easy on Nephilim. Even though I was fumbling with the controls after playing 30 hours of DMC HD in the past few weeks, I was never in any danger.

It runs fine but felt like what it is, a 30 fps game. I think I might get it in a Steam sale down the line. The changes to the controls should theoretically suit a mediocre DMC player like myself who struggles with advanced combat, but I don't think I will pay for the console version.

yaaay just like everything on psn, i cant download the goddamn thing because when it installs it hangs up at 14 percent and gives corrupted data

Delete the demo, delete any "corrupted" data it left behind, rebuild your database, and then re-download and try the install again.

I had the same problem with RE5 on PS+ and that fixed it for me.

Aaaand just beat the boss level on Son of Sparda. Died one time, then beat her. Still getting used to the controls, so I hit. Dodge is ridiculous and Arbiter is stupid OP.

Also interesting to notice that I was thinking "Hey, I'm having no problem adjusting to the new controls at all!", but then I changed the aerial rave to circle and things went so much smoother lol, enemy steps everywhere. I need to get used to this soon. It was quite hard to drop the R1 during the loading screen lol

It's a noticeable drop, yes - but is it Bayonetta PS3 or Castlevania level quality? Absolutely not.

Oh yes, of course not. I'm just really mad because not only they capped it at half the framerate that was standard for the series, but it's not even stable!

I could deal with rock solid 30fps and then double dip the PC version, but I can't deal with framerate dips during combat.

Forget it, framerate is garbage on PS3. It drops every single I launch an enemy.

And you were ezekial levels of excited for this game, right? So no one can acuse me of flaming or whatever.

Hell, I was very excited for it! Since the announcement actually.

I dont get it. How does GOW3 run so beautifully and look so good while DMC does not look as good as a 2 year old game and still struggle to run even at 30 fps. Granted it is a demo build but its really fascinating. Either NT cant code for nuts on PS3 or Santa Monica studio is God tier or maybe both.

UE3 + PS3 and Santa Monica is god tier when it comes to graphics.

Sony Manta Monica is amazing. And GOW3 does not run on the Unreal engine.

EDIT: Beaten.

The Boss battle runs better, but still with mild screen tearing. During gameplay it is pretty solid. and the dips are mostly from cutscenes.

The starting area of the first section in the demo is the worst performing part so far. I think the low res self shadows are the most jarring thing in this demo. How is that on the 360?

us ps3 owners get "the feel of 30fps" confirmed.

I knew it was too much to hope NT would keep it stable :/

...I don't hate NT but comparing them to Sony Santa is ridiculous.

NT made a 360 game and have to port it down while Santa Monica was able to tailor GoW3 to the system . Not to mention NT couldn´t finish HS without SCEE´s help.

PS3 framerate is not great but I doubt many people will notice other than during the moving buildings part, to be honest... dodging seems to be crazy powerful and the dialogue in the boss fight was fucking horrible, but the way the secret challenges work could be pretty cool if the levels get larger later on.

You have a point, for most people it will be fine.

I'm not most people though, I'm a beyblade master.

How do I do angel/demon dodge? Nothing happens when I dodge with either trigger hold down.

Yeah it won me over slowly and steady with each new gameplay video. Too bad for PS3 only owners, fortunately this will run fine on my aging PC as it is an Unreal game that doesn't do streaming. :p I'm still not done with the demo, just messing around. It doesn't really feel like previous DMC games at all, the characteristic "snappiness" is missing. It feels kind of...mushy? lol, I don't know. I need to play this at a higher framerate.

Unreal Engine is the culprit, it always falters on the PS3.

It doesn't even feel like 30fps. :p It doesn't feel or look smooth at all.

Don't feel bad. Next Gen DmC 2 on PS4 will be a guaranteed 60fps if it's just using UE3.

Maybe this was just a test.

But they'll still be porting down next gen. It is pretty clear that Microsoft is the only platform(s) in blockbuster gaming .

The angel dodge you do by double tapping the dodge button holding L2, the demon dodge is just one button press with R2 hold, but timed just before the enemy hits you.

DmC is visually superior to GoW3 though. . .

For the more tech oriented there's full-screen motion blur and a seemingly basic implementation per-object motion blur in the game, but it doesn't do anything to alleviate the framerate. :p The graphics are really good though, visual style is really cool. Super colorful.

I see, cool.

Well, I don't really know what to say about this demo. It's not total garbage like I expected it to be but it has nothing going for it aside for the artstyle. It's definitely a step up from Ninja Theory's previous abortions but it's still a C-tier action game. As expected the tagline the fell of 60 fps was complete and utter PR drivel. Hell, this game doesn't have the fell of DMC in it.

Ah well, I guess I'm done with this franchise until Crapcom gets its ass together and releases a real Devil May Cry game. Still looking forward to Dahbomb's impressions, though.

Nah.. UE3 should be idiot proof next gen in porting. Easier tools and Sony using rumored off the shelf parts like Vita.

Delete the demo, delete any "corrupted" data it left behind, rebuild your database, and then re-download and try the install again.

I had the same problem with RE5 on PS+ and that fixed it for me.

Thanks for the tips, I do that all the time though, it happens constantly for anything other than a small update (even then it sometimes happens). Its a huge problem that seems to effect a ton of people if you search around online. The problem seems to be something to do with how psn interacts with my specific internet set up. I actually download things too fast apparently, so packets get missed and of course PSN is set up so stupidly that it waits to download an entire thing and install up to 14% before even bothering to check if the data is corrupted

Frame rate is janky as fuck on PS3, Unreal strikes again. But I am warming to the way the game plays at least, even if it's not real DMC it at least seems like a decent action game.
