Nintendo Direct EU [and now US] about Wii U + 3DS on 5th Dec @ 5pm GMT

If it interacts with Wii U I'd be stoked.

That's the plan I think. Games are already interacting (MHU), Miiverse/NIN is supposed to be expanded in some way to PC/Smartphone/tablets and 3DS. It could be fun to have a 3DS Wara Wara Plaza + the the Wii U one and to be able to switch/pass from one to another, on the 3DS/Wii U as well as on different devices. Though, I don't think it will be - if it has to be - a unified Plaza with 3DS/Wii U stuff together...

So I don't know if we need an official statement (or if we already got one), but the direct will indeed be about 3DS and Wii U software for the rest of 2012 and beginning of 2013.

Given the backend Nintendo's reserved on Wii U (1GB RAM + dedicated dual core ARM CPU), I'm not expecting Miiverse integrated on the current 3DS/XL models. If it does come, it'll be in an upspecced revision with dedicated resources for it.

Like I said in my post though, the 3DS seems to have the resources free already for basic Miiverse functionality. I think it's a pipe dream to expect the home Miiverse menu, with all the Miis and game icons, to ever come to the 3DS. But the Miiverse social networking tool should be fairly easy to accomplish.

Every time I hit HOME on the 3DS it captures and stores a screenshot, and it keeps that screenshot no matter what else I do, unless I close down the game or return to the game. Just like the Wii U. I can boot the web browser while a game is suspended, log into NeoGAF, and browse the forums full of images and text, check and send my PMs, all with no problem.

In theory, Miiverse communities and networking are nothing more than a glorified forum. All of which could implemented purely on a browser level. Like, if I could access Miiverse from my average web browser, then I could also access it from my 3DS while a game is suspended.

The only hurdle I can see is Nintendo has already developed Letter Box, which Miiverse is an extension of, and I cant see them making that bootable while a game is suspended.

Basically the rest of launch window. We probably know about everything already except maybe some surprise U ports (like Tomb Raider, RE6, F1 Stars, etc)

I think that there will be some new games too, because Reggie said in an IGN interview that they will release some games "during the launch window that we haven't announced yet."

Just expand some of your 3DS eShop IPs over to the Wii U. I wouldn't mind some pushmo or crashmo.

Those two with an overview of the entire structure on the TV with the direct close-up of Mallo on the gamepad? Gorgeous.

I'd miss the 3D, though.

Never seen The Walking Dead. What are you dudes talking 'bout?

A significant character in the Telltale game is named Clem.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
Wii U wise, I expect dates for launch window stuff like Pikmin 3 and W101, and official unveiling of Need for Speed, Splinter Cell, and whatever the SE game is.

Wouldn't be shocked at 1 new game reveal like Yoshi.

Yeah, WaraWara Plaza is not coming, the 3DS menu already has stuff for the top screen, and they'd have to remove it to make room for WaraWara Plaza. And the resolution would make it difficult to read messages.

Good point about Letterbox, althought Letterbox has different funcionality that Miiverse doesn't have, like multiple recipients and Streetpass sharing. Actually, I think the only overlap in functionality is when sending straight to one recipient, because there are no public Letterbox "posts" at all.

Reggies answer always is ,,there is new games on the way''. Referring to shovelware that obviously comes out of nowhere constantly, but most of his similar ,promises' in this gen were simply BS.

Why? Do you think they will announce a new revision? :p Not going to happen...just buy. Unless you mean a price drop for Europe?

Yeah was thinking about a price drop but...they already introduced those bundles a couple weeks ago so I guess it's not likely...well. Don't know. I haven't paid attention to the console scene for the last 10 years so I don't know what's supposed to happen.

That's the American launch window. EU looks quite different.

I think almost everything will apply to Europe too though, except Puddle which is already out. Did the US get any launch games already that EU missed out on?

Ninja Gaiden, Mighty Switch Force and Scribblenauts still coming - maybe some others too. Pikmin and W101 will not make launch window in EU from last we've heard.

Man I just want The Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3. Everything else in the launch window (except Rayman, which I know enough about) is dull, boring, and ported. Those are the two big games I'm dying to get my hands on.

Aliens seems a pretty cool game. But yeah mostly ports or nothing of interest. Still a lot of good games for the system so early in its lifecycle.

I wonder if its possible that the 3DS sees a complete OS overhaul and the Wii U interface is the new standard.

Warawara on the top screen, updated channels on the bottom (with a toggle to switch them).

Is this even possible with the kind of hardware the 3DS runs with? I hope so, because that kind of cohesiveness goes a long way towards developing a mature ecosystem that becomes signature to Nintendo products the way Live and PSN are to MS and Sony respectively.

Also, I'm buying Ghost Warrior 2 for the Wii U if I can get gamepad sniping.

It does but I'll be grabbing it on PC. Only interested in original titles at the moment. Lego City might be cool, but doesn't really appeal to my taste.

I'm worried that TW101 has slipped from the launch window :(.

Miiverse will certainly be on the 3DS in some form. And we've seen other consoles like Xbox 360 completely overhaul their OS. Whether it's technically possible, especially when Nintendo allows you to suspend mid game, is debatable.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
NOA too? Interesting.

Ah, gentlemen. We can certainly expect some eShop surprises, since no PR has been released so far for Europe ( usually, they're released on Monday / Tuesday morning ).
