ROFL what was Kiryu doing at the Karaoke XD Amazing video though, game looks so entertaining.

LOOOOL WTF is he doing!!?

Also I saw a clip of Kiryu and Haruka at the beach near the Orphanage, I wonder if you get to check up on the rest of the guys, or is it just a flashback. Haruka looks more like the Haruka we know in that clip too.

Yeah, so the thing about Hirano in that role. . . is the fact it was during her very controversial time when she wrote off her fans. Most thought she wouldn't be getting any more work after that.

I don't know anything about her, (I was just impressed that she looked like that haha)
What did she say about her fans?? I think she's great at voice acting at least.

I dunno what she said to her fans, but some people were super pissed off 'cause she slept with her band or something like that.

Who knows. She's hot.

Hmm interesting.

I've heard similar things in the past, celebrities in Asia, especially Korea getting into trouble for something they have said etc. It seems like the fans are pretty sensitive.

Dude, there's no point to people putting spoiler bars if you spill the beans^^'

But yeah I'm kind of surprised she returned for that role, since she doesn't seem to do any voice work anymore. I'm not really missing her, but heh. I recently read she asked her agency to refuse as much voice work as possible and she wants to become a full-fledged actress lulz

Anyway, it's almost upon us! Won't be buying day one since I'm waaaaaay too busy with SRW 2nd OG but it's hard not to be hyped.

Played the demo. Using his heat is crazy damage. No idea what I was doing, but beating up thugs. It's weird seeing him as a taxi driver though.

Yaks winding up as taxi drivers isnt that far from the truth. Made friends with one back in 99 when I was out yokohama side. Nice guy, but totally had the stereotypical yakuza look, short curled hair semi tinted glasses and what looked like to be an old scar. The way he spoke too you could tell.

Guy and I talked about the future and I had asked him what his dream was, interesting thing is he said he would really like to open his own small restaurant, though he doubts that will ever come true with a face like his. He had some fond memories of when he was getting back on his feet once being out and this small mom & pop restaurant always treated him right and he wanted to make a place like that. Where people could come have a good meal and just relax from the daily hustle and bustle. Was a long drive since I was heading from Yokohama to Tokyo that day. Lots of interesting folks are taxi drivers. Same with the US I suppose.

My other buddy who in the Navy when he was stationed out at Yokosuka would for some reason always attract those kind of folks who would go dragging him off to have drinks together in a bar. There he would have to sit and listen to their fucked up stories of the old days lol. Hilarious stuff.

I dont know why i do this to myself.....i downloded the demo, i love it as i figured i would..and i know there is probably a good chance we will not get this in the US. Atleast i can bust some heads with the demo, maybe sega will throw us a bone and atleast release it digitally.

I R VICTORY!11111111

Ill have to mess with my recording wires and what not later. Its currently set up for PC recording thats why. Need to go and hook up the extra crap that will allow me to record PS3 footage in 1080p if the game allows for it. Am using this extra bit bought from Monoprice that gets rid of the HDCP bit. Some games allow for 1080p others get stuck in 720p.

*Ok looked at the back and this one highest it goes is 720p.
Install size is about 7.97 GB (8170 MB)

Put on the stopwatch to see how long installation takes. Though Im not running the stock PS3 HDD

Installation takes up to 20 minutes. Since I was in this screen typing the timer might have gone slightly over. But for example at 16 minutes it was about 60% complete. So can guess the rest of the install from there went pretty fast.

Ryu Ga Gotoku 5 - "One who grants wishes" - Don't worry I got 9 more!

Actually Id say leave the OT up to someone who has more time to do it and will do a good job. Since am sure you guys know far better anyways about the whole series and what not.

At 9 minutes the installation is at 40% now.

Congrats, man.

Just paid for my order and EMS at amiami. Hope to have it this week or early next.

Thanks, btw hows Amiami with their shipping speed and such? Its pretty interesting that a Japanese company is running the operation seeing how their contact phone number is still within country and not a US office. A buddy of mine seems to get figures and what not from there, but I was not familiar with the fact they sold games too to the US.

Thank god this is one of those games that actually pauses everything when the PS button is pressed. I really hate it when titles dont pause the game when in the PS3 dashboard.

Seriously with how anal sony is with their TRC crap you would have thought they would have that as one of the regimented requirements for the game to actually pause when the PS button is pressed bringing up the PS3 dashboard. Since its real inconsistent which means its up to the developer.

I must now pray to the localization gods...

Better pray that it sells well in Japan first. Am really hoping it does.

But this week is Nintendo week. No chance for Ryu5.

It depends, considering a lot of the titles are western ones with a few Japanese titles for the WiiU it will be interesting to see how the software sales go for the system.

That and I really dont think the WiiU demographic is part of those who would be buying the RGG 5 game anyways for the most part.

anecdotal, but based on my knowledge of awesome yakuza-GAF and my time with nintendo-GAF, i represent about 94% of that crossover, sadly

Im real curious to see how it does in Japan overall. I personally wont be buying one, but am curious to watch the progress of the sales and such. To be fair I suppose the line up is cut into almost 50/50 with the JP vs Western titles. As always can imagine Mario Bros will be selling the most.

Yakuza is basically the only reason I have a console, so insofar as I'm invested in any of console manufacturers, I'm part of Sony-GAF.

Cool stuff am impressed with the engine upgrade.

One thing that I know people will find odd when they get their copies and play will be with the in game cutscenes on occasion you will notice that civilians will appear to vanish. It seems this has to do with preventing them from actually clipping through the main actors of said cutscene in the active city setting. While it looks odd, truthfully cant think of any other way for them to have done it short of making it scripted. So when you do see that go on in the game just keep that in mind.

I've been using Ami Ami for most of my import shopping this past year, aside from E.X. Troopers and 2nd SRW OG with Play Asia. Their shipping is pretty good for being located in Japan. With EMS it takes 2-3 days to get from Tokyo to my place in Seattle.

Footage looks great for the most part, but...

I wish Kaz would give the hostess club bullshit a rest and marry Kaoru already. I mean come on! It hurts seeing him pay money so that chicks will pretend they're interested in him when over in America the one dame worthy of his wang love is being stonewalled. I really hate the hostess stuff so much; it's one part of Japanese culture I will never comprehend. Creepy beyond belief.

Edit - He's being a real tryhard during that air hockey match.

That is pretty damned good. Sounds like it beats play asia with their questionable shipping times, since that place is so hit and miss.

Game's out already? Wow.

Today officially yes.

From playing this game for a few hours last night one thing also to keep in mind is that since its a whole new engine in some ways things have gone back to square one, since am pretty sure the team is still getting used to a lot of things. So improvements which we had seen in the previous yakuza game to the battle system and what not dont really seem to exist in this title and some things have gone slighty backwards. But when you consider the fact that they are working with a brand new engine its understandable and we can all hope that for Yakuza 6 they will work on the path to improvement again as they have done with the previous titles.

Am not saying that its bad, but you will notice a step back from the improvements which were made in the previous titles. 3 and 4 in general. Am enjoying the game and do look forward to finishing it! One cool thing about in the battle is sometimes you will see one of the enemies which you are fighting pull out a cell phone and call for more friends. If hes successful with the call more arrive to the fight, if you interrupt it they dont. Pretty neat little thing which adds to the experience.

Yeah, it's not bad at all. I used to always go with NCSX since things would always get to me two days after they shipped, but their prices have gone up a lot due to the strength of the Yen.

As for PA, I'm still waiting on my copy of E.X. Troopers after it shipped two weeks ago, I'm sure my copy of 2nd SRWOG will suffer a similar fate.

Man are you serious you still didnt get your copy of EX yet? I remembered you talking about it was delayed in the OT but figured you would have gotten it by now.

For some reason there seems to be less heat actions. Activating them is a bit hit or miss, in the sense of you need to leave a delay for the triangle button to fully appear. It doesnt count if it just blinks on the screen and you press it. It needs to like be a second or two after you first see the button.

The QTEs for continuing some of the heat actions are pretty crazy fast now in the sense of time between appearing / vanishing, which is odd seeing how the producer talked about that they tried to work on the game making it a bit more accessible for players. Some of the animation work with for example the hand when Kiryu chops in half an object stuck on the head of an enemy seems a bit odd too.

The faces of the enemies dont seem to bruise anymore like with 3-4. If it does I have not seen it yet or does not happen as quickly. Also after defeating the last enemy that satisfying slow mo of the final action cuts out pretty quickly. Im guessing that was their way of trying to hurry things along with how the new battle system works. Since after the battle as folks might have seen in the demo it needs to reload the city, even if the start of the battle was seamless.

The basics of the combat system are pretty much the same though.

Its too bad that they didnt build more on the battle system that they had for Black Panther the first game as it was pretty well done and the up and close camera work was really well done making for some pretty intense fights. (They kinda screwed up the battle system in the 2nd game. Almost as if a different team or project leader was involved, also the shitty new VA they chose for the role of the main character. Its why I quit playing the second game even though I loved that spinoff.) This one went the opposite direction due to how its built around more large group battles which will happen later in the game.

This isnt a bad thing, its just slightly different. But overall its a solid product. Just need to keep that in mind as mentioned initially that this is their first RGG project on the new engine so starting off with baby steps so to speak then refine from there is understandable. Also the feedback they will be getting from the fans of the series will be important to this too.

I had just wanted to mention this so that others who pick up the game and notice it dont go flying off the handle about how things would be wrong lol. For everything else that was added into this game its quite easy to overlook these small issues.

Thanks for the info, I had noticed something weird in the gameplay videos with the heat signal flashing very quickly on the screen.

Bummer about the slow-mo!

Yeah it was one of the more satisfying bits of the games combat system. Esp if you finished them off with a heat action.

It really is nice though not having to wait for fights to start as in loading into the battle like with the previous titles. Makes running around drunk to gain exp faster a lot less time consuming in the long run lol. Seems like this game too you get into more fights if you are drunk vs. not drunk.

Im still surprised that with the game no convenience stores have tried to jump on the bandwagon to be the "official" one of the RGG series. Seeing how so many other companies have thrown various products / brands into the mix.

Played Akiyama yet? I'm assuming if you're talking about drunken fights, you must've!
