NPD November 2012 Results [Up6: Black Ops 2, Halo 4, Most Wanted, Assassin's Creed 3]

3DS software has slowed down and major games like Bravely Default are kept in Japan only, so 3DS is becoming less tempting

I would buy one with Bravely Default in US, but as it is i will probably just wait

Keeping a game like that away from US is crazy imo, they should help Square localize it

Bravely Default won't move hardware. It probably won't even hit 1 million sold in the US.

I still can't believe Epic Mickey 2 didnt chart, the first one had a massive openning, I guess I'm really alone in loving these series after all D:

EB Canada. I have yet to see the status change since launch. The same goes for FutureShop, BestBuy and Wal-Mart.

Not to say it's fully sold out, I'm sure if you looked you could find one, but the claims that you can find mountains of them at every big box store are probably exaggerated.
Canada is more Nintendo-loyal than almost every market except for Japan.
There's a reason why the Wii Mini is getting the test market launch north of the border.

If Nintendo has nurtured the Wii it could potentially be doing 1 million+ Novembers and Decembers still.

400,000 for a dead system? A strong Wii would have helped the transition to the Wii U but as has been recounted numerous times, Nintendo dropped the ball on last-gen despite the amazing start. It is still a good budget option for families with a great $19.99 and $29.99 1st party lineup, but it could have been much more than that at this point.

For the past four weeks in Media Create, we have 685,438 3DS consoles sold.

It's always hard to believe that Japan beat the USA by nearly 150,000 3DS consoles sold in the month of November.

Combined SKU list is boring. Multiplatforms everywhere. Blah.

Would love to see individual/platform specific top 10s.

425k Wii-U sold is not a bad number at all, it basically outperformed every launch in the last decade with the exception of the Wii and PSP. Now let's see if system has momentum or drops off a cliff after the holiday season.

I wonder what earned more hardware revenue, those 1.7m Nintendo systems or the 1.2m 360s. Would be pretty close I imagine.

I think you mean profit, right? Revenue is easy to figure out (units sold X price) and is the less important of the two numbers.

nice numbers for the vita, much more then what i expected initially (before bf)

i wonder if they can sustain those sails in december without those huge promotions.

Word of mouth was not great after the first one, the second one got shit on in reviews (the highest of the bunch is the Wii version on Metacritic at 66), and it got released at a terrible time. I would have expected maybe the Wii U version to do alright, but that's it.

The Wii is doing phenomenal compared to prior transition periods for them console wise. 400K vs the 76k gamecube was doing in nov 2006

Halo 4 xbox > Blops2 xbox I think

he usually lists them by sku rank. strange no numbers still...

PS3 really underperformed...and Vita, well, what can you say about something that has only appeared to have life since its inception? Honestly, I think it's going to take a near-miracle for the next Playstation console to really go toe-to-toe with the next XBOX in North America. Sony just squandered too much credibility and goodwill with PS3 and PSP here, and Vita, I think, is a warning sign, if not a preview, of next gen. Ninty better make good use of their year ahead of the competition while getting a trajectory set up for big exclusives against them for next holiday season.

None of what you just said makes any sense.

PS2 outsold the 360 through most of 2006, and the PS3 and sometimes the 360 in 2007. This is nothing new.

I bet People will be shocked when they see the xbox 720 selling less than the xbox 360 next year (or 2014)

Wii U numbers are actually really good, especially if you note npd is only counting the first 7 Wii U days...

I want to be more interested but when I look at those WiiU numbers I feel like I can't learn anything or make any opinion at all regarding anything. Going to have to see jan/feb/march/summer numbers before they mean anything to me.

As for the rest, par for the course.

Animal Crossing should've been released now. Big mistake by Nintendo.
It's not just Animal Crossing, but the entire line-up. Nintendo can't do everything on their own but third parties aren't showering the handheld with titles either. I'm sure it has it's reasons (most likely games underperforming) but man I wish Nintendo could do something about it.

those 3ds numbers are fucking terrible. nintendo fucked up by not having pokemon 5th gen as a launch title and fucked up even further by not having the sequel to that game as a 3ds exclusive. and then the device is too expensive, the games are too expensive, and they don't have any vision for this thing. it's like the gamecube in handheld form.
That's true, they don't know what to do with the system. It seemed like their initial plan was just to make sequels for DS games and call it a day. DS had much more fresh and innovative software. And constantly delaying games doesn't help.

vita sales are grim :(

There were people doubting that it would break 100k for the month.
It's doing terrible, there's no other way around it, price should be cut to 170$ right now permanently but compared to 3DS is not so bad.
Results just prove that the market for dedicated gaming handhelds is shrinking considerably. Still with a cheaper price and more games they have a chance to get decent sales.

Remember when Nintendo used to do insane numbers with the DS? Maybe if they actually put out software for 3DS, that might help...

At least people still bought the Wii to use with that new peripheral.

WiiU sales are ok. Not too bad, though I imagine the name and confusion hurt its sales. Wii probably sold more than it would have thanks to that. The next few months will be telling, though I have a feeling the numbers won't be pretty.

3DS numbers are not good. DS needs to die and the system needs more killer apps. They should have focused on getting Animal Crossing out same time as the Japanese release.

360 numbers are, as usual, very good. Nothing much more to say there!

Interested in seeing the PS3 and especially Vita sales.
