Maybe if the eagle had been successful it would have attempted to raise the baby as it's own.

When it realised that the baby was unable to fly it would have let the baby ride on a tiny saddle on the eagle's back like Brian Blessed in fucking Flash Gordon.

For a few months the baby and the eagle would happily live together, flying high over the land hunting for other babies with which to form their infant army. Babies start being snatched throughout Montreal and teams of baby piloted eagles begin terrorising the area.

The babies are happy with this arrangement, but the eagles have an altogether more sinister agenda and begin using the tiny aviators as live bombs, dropping them onto their own grieving parents killing them in a shower of baby-matter.

The army responds but it is too late. The eagles have won and Canada has fallen.

And to think we all laughed when we saw the video that started it all.

What a bunch of bastards we've become.

It looks completely fake imo.

The reaction of the two guys, the way the kid moves when he's being carried away, the way the eagle moves when it's flapping, and the shadows all look incorrect.

It would be an incredible video if it were real, but I doubt it is.

I'd lean towards fake. The staging is perfectly imperfect, like most CG fake viral videos.

There's that funky moment in the beginning when the eagle's wing partially disappears.

Plus the oddness where the eagle's shadow just suddenly appears, and there's no logical reason why it wouldn't already be on the ground. It just pops in.

That's when I knew it was fake.

What's with the "leap of faith" SFX over Chariots of Fire in the latter half?

Smells like some Ubisoft Montreal viral marketing for Assassin's Creed to me

Can't eagles lift goats off cliffs?

Hope its fake. I have a 1 year old, and something like that actually happening is terrifying.

but why couldn't it fly him to mordor?

Awesome

But more topical is "Why couldn't it fly him to the damn Lonely Mountain?"

I believe that version of the video was posted by Deadspin. They add music a lot of times with a slow-mo replay.

Or I guess not.

Looks like you can see evidence of the compositing too, when the eagle passes behind the man.

Whole thing reminds me of this "Amazing Cat Gives Thumbs Up" video, which was apparently a viral prelude to the "Cats With Thumbs" ad campaign that launched like a week later in the UK.

No, it's on the apparent original posting.

It's crazy that with 10 days left of the year, a video comes around and steals Video of the Year instantly... a little too crazy.

BUT, I'm fairly decent w/ spotting fakes and a lot of the camera work in this video (too perfect) sets it off that it could actually be fake (look for decent composition in hectic scenarios!). But it's a beautifully done fake if it is... but, I'd have to go w/ fake. Especially with the convenient cutaway to close up of crying kid.

Aaaaand it's fake:

Pretty well made, but still not good enough ;)

Ahhh, thought so. Pretty well fucking done though. But the tracking looked like it slipped for a bit.

That's quite a connection if you're right, but it sounds like a shitty stock sample at a different pitch.

Wow, that eagle almost got away with its daring raid. Pretty horrifying, actually, even if it's fake. Now I'm curious about whether there are documented cases of infants really being carried off by large birds.

They try for dogs so why wouldn't they try to grab a little kid

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
That and there's a lack of total distress when the baby gets snatched. And well, the opening shot.

Weird, I just saw it randomly on YouTube, then go on GAF and here it is again... It's chasing me.
I wish I could find a video with a condor instead of an eagle.

Condors are scavengers.

Holy shit....I was wrong. If that eagle can carry that goat so far it could definitely take a child away. That's terrifying.

The eagle is flying downward in all those clips. It's not really comparable to lifting a prey off the ground with no momentum.
