Project X Zone is coming to both Europe, Australia, US in the summer of 2013 for 3DS

I just hope it doesn't come out exact same time as Pokemon and hopefully doesn't get turned digital only or some BS.

Other than that, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBS.

Mii (the red haired original character) is hot. <3

There have been several impressions in this thread but the game wasn't received very well in Japan.

It does contain some of the most beautiful sprite work and animation you'll ever see along with excellent remixes of licensed themes from their respective series though. Conversations between crossover characters are always a fun novelty to see and the game has a few good points. The gameplay itself is best described as shallow though, eventually becoming tedium, along with an awful story. It's almost as if a company like compile heart got their mitts on all these megaton licenses and decided to put together a game with their usual design philosophy.

I half wouldn't recommend paying full price for this because I don't think it's worth it, but at the same time it's probably a good idea to support it if you want to see more localizations for the future.

So this game is pretty much garbage. Will avoid

Considering the fact that I enjoyed Namco X Capcom despite all of it's faults which I fully acknowledge, If this game even improves on it a little I will have a ball.

Hilariously enough the negative stuff doesn't stem from gameplay (which should get some flak) but rather story lol

I don't know what you're looking at but I'm seeing this hit from both angles. And from the kind of fanservice it employs.

I doubt anyone had legitimate hopes for the story, your best hope is they got some good writers to create great exchanges between the various characters as I'd think that'd be a large part of the appeal with crossovers here.

Awesome news. Since I believe Namco were the ones against bringing the first game over to the West, I take it they had a change of heart? Or did SEGA being involved in this game give Capcom more sway in translating it?

Uh, in this thread alone, myself and a few others (much more eloquently than I) pointed out quite a few severe issues with the gameplay.

That being said though, fans of these franchises should pick PXZ up if only for the amazing sprite work and animation. I nearly crapped myself seeing the Valkyria Chronicles 3 cast in sprite form.

A little off topic, but this reminds me, how was Endless Frontier Exceed? I've been toying with the idea of importing it ever since it became clear it wasn't coming over (liked the first game and have decent enough Japanese that the game shouldn't be a problem at all), but I'm starting think that maybe I'll just skip it now that this is coming out.

Word is it was fantastic, huge improvement over EF(which I enjoyed).

The only thing Atlus didn't localize that made me sadder was Growlanser PSP.

And I was close to being tempted to get the JP version when Play-Asia had this at $25! And I JUST picked up SRW:OG Saga:Endless Frontier to boot. 3DS will be aquired for sure this year!

It's hype time.

First five posters to name an PxZ/NxC/Endless Frontier character gets an avatar.
(I use MSP, quality may vary, see store for details.)

It was repetitive as hell. I've never finished it, I play like two chapters a month. Each one takes upwards of an hour long.

I had fun figuring out different combos and to get most action points each time not the most hits. The story was nonsensical but it's cool to see the sprite work and animation.

Hey all, new here, just got accepted. Glad to be part of the Gaf community!

This is great news and really quite unexpected. I love Monolith Soft, so I'll definitely be grabbing this when it's released. I'd like to think this was announced for localization because of Monolith Soft's involvement and with them being a first-party developer for Nintendo.

No, this game was announced for localization because we fulfilled the blood oath secretly sent to us by Harada.

The second Endless Frontier game never got localized despite Monolith's involvement.

This has more to do with the blood oath.

OH YEAH

It's a pretty repetitive, barebones game, but goddamnit it's full of energy compared to NxC

What about them?[/QUOTE]
I'm reminded why I wasn't interested in this. Should have stayed in Japan.

Tbh, they kind of shoehorned it in with Endless Frontier so meh. But regardless, it's not an SRW style game or brand. NxC wasn't even close and from what I'm reading PxZ, it's probably more of the same. Might be fun but it'll probably take alot more work to be as good as an actual SRW.

In that case the shoehorning was pretty complete: in the 1st game Haken and Aschen tie into SRW OG plot, and on the 2nd they include Axel Almer, Alfimi and Fighter Roar; now PXZ tosses in Sanger, and all of them get Reiji, Xiaomu and Saya.

Between the crossovers all of those have been in plus aditional ones the characters in those tie to (ex.. Virtual On in SRW, Ryu in lots of other games), the shared cast of these Monolith Soft game might qualify for a Kevin Bacon-ish 6-degrees factor among video game casts.

Not that their own stories are particularly good - the referenced games tend to have decent ones and the writers find clever ways to make them work together, but at the end of the day they really really want us to love their original guys and force their plots down our throats to the very end of the game. And to make things worse, get get new sets of originals for every game, so the cycle starts anew every time.
I'd see no problem with Haken and Aschen or Kaguya starring in EF Exceed, or Reiji and Xiaomu starring in PXZ - I wonder what new relevant things the new characters bring in each case.
I wouldn't be surprised if references to the retarded plot had more to do with the new guys and the inevitable original enemy/final boss, since the interaction between everyone else tends to be the lifeblood of these games.
