Finally found an awesome TV show tracker app. All with the right mix of design, functionality, and simplicity.

Can't believe the dev is giving it out for free, with no ads. I'd gladly pay $5 to support him.

What app do you guys use for cheap VoIP, I'm talking international calls to Asia/UK/Middle-east/Australia?
Try Google Voice or Talkatone.

What's the verdict on Tapbots' other apps?

I'm referring to the Weightbot and Calcbot specifically.
My sister loves weightbot.

I like calcbot, but it seems kinda redundant on an iPhone. I use it on iPad though since it doesn't have a calculator.

I personally love convertbot.

hmmm ok looking app but it aucks that you cant have a guide to what episode you have to watch next - only what airs next. What do i care if madmen ep 12 of season6 airs tomorrpw if iam still stuck somewhere in season 4 !?

It doesn't appear listed on the main watchlist but you can mark individual backlog episodes as unwatched (the 'eye' icon) in the show's episode listings and keep track that way.

Thanks. I'm a bit discouraged at the lack of support from Tapbots for their other apps, and seems to only be focused on Tweetbot.

Read a comment on one of those apps saying that Tapbots won't be updating the app to be iPhone 5-sized, and Calcbot hasn't been updated in almost 3 years.

My Dashboard is looking really good. It's basically the Android home screen with ajustable panels and widgets.

Let's just say that I would like more reasons to stay in the app, but it still has a lot of things to get right.

True, it's a bummer I suppose. I don't know exactly why, but I think that if you were to get an app approved now, it has to be signed off with the latest SDK , and if you do that, it has to be iOS 6 compatible and drop support for previous iOS before 4.3. Fortunately, iTunes will simply not install an app if that's the case now ( before it would delete it if it wasn't compatible), so maybe that's not the entire story.

If it hasn't been updated, who knows. They're very simple apps do maybe they don't need to have anything added. iPhone 5 support would be nice, fir example on convertbot, but they wouldn't really add anything except superfluous graphics anyway, I'd wager

Best art/animation apps? I currently have Brushes and Paper.

Just saw this question. There are a lot of great art apps out there and Brushes is very good but nothing beats Sketchbook Pro IMO. It's as close as you'll come to a professional level program for artists in app form. I've used it since the OG iPad and never found anything that really is in the same league. Procreate comes pretty close especially since it reproduces paint effects pretty well and responsively - something that Sketchbook Pro doesn't do.

[edit - also, this is a thorough list that outlines all the best ones out there: http://www.creativebloq.com/digital-art/art-on-the-ipad-1232669]

[edit # 2 - WOW! Thanks to this post, I went back and tried Procreate again and so glad that I did! I had initially written this off as a fairly shallow art app but its complexity is actually only revealed upon further use (you’d think it was a first party app because of this). It’s actually an amazing program that is more responsive than other ones on iOS that mimic paint smudging and blending. I think I’m in love. Time will tell whether this will take over Sketchbook Pro as my go-to preference for iPad painting and drawing. For now, I’m very curious as to what I can pull off with it.]

So, I'm in Spain and as of today I still haven't been able to try an app that sports Passbook support.
Does anybody know about some apps that have Passbook support integrated and that I could use here?

Just use 1Password. No yearly fee and syncing between multiple platforms is always a great thing.

Come off it. The price of just the 1Password iOS app is 50% more than a 1 year subscription to lastpass subscription on all their platforms. When you add in the price of the desktop apps, and consider that Agilebits releases paid upgrades every other year or so, you'll find that 1Password is much more expensive than Lastpass.

Lastpass supports more platforms than 1Password and while it doesn't have the best design, the apps are at least capable and generally equivalent in features available on all platforms. Agilebits on the other hand offers uneven platform support — their android app is truly atrocious and is worse than anything Lastpass has ever put out.

I've paid for all the 1Password apps—except the most recent iOS upgrade— and I can't in good faith recommend it to someone looking to get a password management app. Even if I were to suggest the iPassword desktop app, I'd caution against buying the iOS app given the restrictions on the platform. It's probably a better mobile experience to use the 1Password desktop app to generate passwords then save those in the Safari autofill for use while browsing.

Made the mistake of buying Tapose a while ago, loaded up again today, still terrible.

Months of promises of a better GUI/UX. Still absolutely dreadful.

Sigh, Courier esque journal. Someone needs to make a similar functional yet gorgeous app.

I like Notability

Seconded. Highly recommend Notability. I've been through all the major ones, and used each one exclusively for a month or two. When I finally heard about Notability and tried it, it answered just about all my needs. It's got the zoom window, folders and sub folders (called Categories and Subjects), you can type, write, draw, or record audio. You can export to dropbox, evernote, google docs, or just about any other app. You can even auto sync certain folders with other services. For example, I have a work folder where I take meeting notes and whenever I create a new note it automatically plops the PDF in my google drive to review anytime, anywhere.

I only wish there were an iPhone version I could sync with to add thoughts/notes when I'm on the go without my iPad. For now I just use the Apple notes app and then c/p it in later in Notability.

It would also be cool to have different templates beyond just lined and graph paper... like a check list template or to-do list.

Those are minor wishes because what it does offer is far and away beyond any other writing app I've used. Sorry for the ravings. I just really love the app and had to get it all out there for anyone else looking for something like it.

I'm looking for an app that lets you view/save pdf, txt and word documents but can also upload them on cloud services like Dropbox.

is there some way to gift an app that is free?

there are some apps that are free right now that I want to give to my mother when she gets her ipad mini but I cannot gift them. Apps that cost I can gift without any problems.

I want to gift the apps that are currently free to one of my alternative email addresses and then get her those apps when she gets the mini.

Sign up on iTunes with her account, get the apps.

I always wondered why it wasn't possible. Also, gifting is only possible with a credit card not with iTunes credit.

I wonder if it has to do with potential spamming or abuse (you don't really gift them, you buy it and it generates a redemption code).
