Halo |OT14| They call it Halo

I play with pretty much the same group of people across all games. Our collective experience playing Zombies in COD, Horde in GOW, Left4Dead, Dead Island, Borderlands 1&2, and on and on has been much better than what happens when we play co-op in H4 or Reach. Netcode's pretty much the only variable that exists in this example.
Well that's something, alright, and that makes more sense. I've had a different experience with my group, but at least I know why you're looking at the netcode.

For what its worth, my group isn't on the same block ;P I'm in SF, my co-op buddy is in Oakland, across the bridge, and our third is up in Portland. All west coast though, so I guess that's our "block".

I think we need to call in Fyrewulff to get technical.
Woah, you weren't kidding. Good stuff.

"I'VE GOT YOU IN THE PROMETHEAN SLEEPER HOLD"

"AS I YOU"

"NEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR"

"HRRRRRRNNNNNGGGGGHHHHFFFFFFF"

"Goddamn it guys."

GAME OVER
lol. Sold!

Haha I wish! I had to cancel a date tonight to go into work. On a Friday night. Which is where I am now.

IN HELL.

Thanks <3

OT but I got my nephew into Kameo: Elements of Power.. R

Same with me too. I've played all those games and had great co-op experiences with them with friends near and far. So, I just assumed Halo's co-op was just poorly designed in comparison. Looking forward to Destiny's co-op being significantly more awesome.

Joe Rogan's face is loud.

I dont know who Joe Rogan is, cant argue there.

Your avatar is ugly and only encourages other users to not make use of the full 100x120 range and these are the things that upset me. hashtag: firstworldproblems

Masterchiefs face cant be resized to 100x120, as its a rectangle box and would look the same. Learn to shape bro.

Halo 3 is the worst Halo MM experience overall.

Every Halo Matchmaking has been fun to me, I cant really rank them. I feel Halo Reach and Halo 4 play the same, but it isn't an issue as I enjoyed Reach. I enjoyed Halo 3 action sack very much, also though.

I HATE YOU AND I HATE THE BANDS YOU LIKE

do me a favor and get to work on modding my weapons into a Wahrer Slayer gametype for the lulz

HOLY SHIT IDEA. The Gravity Gauntlet gets balanced by requiring a charge-up for grapples/pickups/stuns so people can evade it or jack your weapons. On the flip side, you can grab grenades, projectiles and objectives out of the air. You can grab motherfucking grenades and rockets out of the motherfucking air. Physics would be a little like Kratos' chainblades in terms of momentum so you'd have to redirect them accordingly.

You could use a Gravity Gauntlet to grab Railgun shots out of the damn air. Oh my god.

Edit: WHAT THE FUCK FRACAS QUIT READING MY MIND

Playing God of War III for the first time, it's weird hearing someone being referred to as "Spartan" when it's not Chief.

Lose in Regicide to a guy with six fewer kills and five fewer assists than me, because we traded kills at the last second and he got my max bonus.

FIX YOUR SHIT 343

Was just playing CTF and I was the only one goin for the flag, went -14. I rage quit after that, this game is unbearable alone and only slightly better with friends and not rage inducing because you're not playing with idiots. Why is the general player of this game so bad?

Use the Grav Gauntlet more bk

Going to ask for some controversial discussion for my weapon sandbox revision. As of now, it's set in stone that:

-BR, Carbine and Light Rifle are Primary loadout weapons.

-The DMR, Needle Rifle and Pulse Rifle (new!) are "initial" ordnance, or rather sparse on-map pickups.

The design philosophy is that marksmen can still ping as they please, but it doesn't immediately fuck over every player out in the open from any range. It also allows for open maps again; compare Sandtrap or Sidewinder to Meltdown, for example.

My current plans are that BR/Carbine/LR kill times are about the same; BR is a four-shot kill though (buff), Carbine receives a buff to be closer to the Halo 3 beta version, and the Light Rifle remains unchanged.

The DMR would be the most common pickup of the bunch but be a 6-shot kill. Ranged users can still get their kills, but you'll probably lose in a fight against a primary weapon user. Thus it actually becomes a Designated Marksman Rifle. Mostly for pinging loners and countering snipers.

The Needle Rifle has a kill time slightly slower than the DMR, but it would only be noticeable in a direct fight between the two. This is offset by the ability to supercombine, though.

The Pulse Rifle is a weird case; let's just say the Beam Rifle and Halo CE Pistol had a baby. Range feels a little shorter than either other two guns but it can still function beyond its apparent range. It's a 4-shot kill and the third-fastest kill time in the entire game, save for instakill weapons. The top 5 would be something like Battle Rifle, Binary Rifle 2-Shot (which is nerfed but given some unique properties), Pulse Rifle, Sniper Rifle 2-Shot, and Beam Rifle 2-Shot. The Pulse Rifle is similar to the Oscillator in that it can have a ridiculously quick kill time, but boils down to perfect timing. If timed properly, you can get off your 4 shots and then overheat; you have a window of 2 frames per shot to get it right, otherwise you'll overheat and miss your chance to kill your target. An average, more safely-paced kill with it is probably closer to the DMR's kill time. A "Perfect Pulse" rewards you with a special audio cue during the overheat to confirm your kill and also overheats a bit more dimly. Overheating and not getting a kill out of it will make a loud droning noise and give off a red lens flare pretty much giving away your position.

What do you guys think about this as far as precision weapons go? Not counting secondary pistols and snipers, of course.

You're playing the gametype wrong

Pretty much. Do people also complain that they lost a CTF, KOTH, or Oddball game despite out-slaying the other team? Sure it plays a factor, but that's not the name of the game. It takes a little bit more strategy and deliberation to win. I think people get more hung up on Regicide because it's an Objective game disguised as a Slayer game. The Objective just happens to be the person with the most points instead of a ball or flag.

If you want to win by out-slaying, play Slayer. Sadly, there exists no FFA slayer, but don't criticize the gametype by trying to shoe-horn another gametype's rules and objectives into it, that doesn't work.

In other words, do what the HaloGAF motto says: Adapt.

The only reason I was in Regicide was because I wanted to play Free For All, and that is the only FFA gametype there is.
Again, 343 needs to fix their shit.

So I've been playing Red Orchestra 2 and to my knowledge, you can't view another player's after-game report K/D and overall K/D. It just shows kills. Everyone is around the objective at all times. No one gets mad when they get team killed. It's just brushed off.

Since CSR is only viewable on Waypoint, can we flip the roles of CSR with kills/deaths? Please

The only time I really have fun in this game, going in alone, is in BTB. It's already a clusterfuck of heavy weapons and random vehicle spawns, so it doesn't much matter if you have a few friends on or not. That at the amount of bad kids and guests seem to be proportionally higher in big team so you can get your dongblain on.

Even as an objective gametype, regicide is terrible FFA, if only for one reason: rubberbanding. It's terrible when racing games do it and it sucks in H4. How stupid would CTF be if your flag became worth more points because you were capping more than your opponent? It's fucking stupid plain and simple.

The gametype isn't broken though. What's broken is that the normal FFA gametype doesn't exist yet. It's coming soon though.

Speaking of FFA, any amazing Midship remakes out there? lol

Except in those gametypes, every player has equal scoring opportunity. The game doesn't usually handicap the leader by removing large swaths of point potential just because he's in the lead. It's a gametype that designed around giving worse players an easy way to make it to the top despite not playing as well, and reducing the effectiveness of the top player artificially. If you want to be at max score potential and benefit from the comeback mechanics inherent to the gametype, the strategy is just "play like shit for a while," which shouldn't be viable.

If you're in the lead there's not much you can do to keep your scoring potential maxed as you could in normal play for every other competitive FFA gametype in the series except for drastically outskilling the other players in the match and winning despite the fact that you've been cut off at the knees by the rules of the game. There's certainly a way to game the system and win outright without that huge skill gap, but it's a fundamentally flawed design as the sole FFA gametype in the game, one that pretends to be competitive at its core. It's practically Action Sack in disguise, much the same way that Juggernaut was.

The team variant is a different animal though. Every player has potential for a bounty bonus because there is a king per side. That's what makes Team Regicide work when the FFA variant doesn't.

Played the last Spartan Ops mission for the week, and no bugs at all. Dunno if they fixed the Promethean in the wall glitch or got lucky. Weird thing was I had a double XP credit at the end? Somehow got refunded for the one I lost with the bug last time or a 343i dude read my plight.

Oh, and played a game of Grifball. Never played it before. It was pretty fun.

Halo 3 is the worst Halo MM experience overall.

Halo 2 is the worst Halo MM experience overall.

Halo 4 is the worst Halo MM experience overall.

Halo Reach is the best MM experience overall.

Halo Reach is my favorite Halo game.

Halo 1 is the best Halo MM experience overall.

MegaBloks are superior to Legos overall.

Holy shit, I'm in stitches over here.

Hmmm, I may need to try BTB now since I'm usually playing alone. All my friends have ditched this game, hopefully a few will come back for team doubles.

Would you guys be fine with Ordnance-specific killing sprees coming back per each weapon as long as the UI could handle it fine? Some examples:

Humbler Stun Baton (UNSC Melee Weapon)
Killing Spree: Humblebee
Killing Frenzy: Shock and Awe
Running Riot: God of Thunder

Hardlight Halberd or simply "Halberd" (Promethean Hardlight Staff - Melee Weapon)
Killing Spree: Lancer
Killing Frenzy: Pole Position
Running Riot: In the Aether

Phasebuster (Promethean Grenade Launcher)
Killing Spree: Bunker Buster
Killing Frenzy: Zero Pulse
Running Riot: Nothing But Jar
