Square Enix registered Legacy of Kain related domain

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Simon Templeman or GTFO
Considering he was the antagonist in Dead Space 3, I don't see why Templeman wouldn't want to return to the Kain series.

Yes, you played Kain and it primarily took place in a large city and also introduced the Hylden. It was okay and had some cool areas (like that asylum where time doesn't flow) but not as good as the rest of the series.

I think they were really unnecessary addition to the lore.

You must have dreamed this. Blood Omen 2 does not exist.

There, as well as the NPD + Media Create I could find, and stuff off the hitman forums.

It's all a guess until SE releases the numbers though - all we can really know is that it was commercially successful at this point - to what degree exactly, who knows.

It hasn't even been on any NPD that I've seen and SE pretends it doesn't exist when they do their financial reports. It definitely didn't do anywhere near 3 million, probably not even close to 1 million. Otherwise SE would have given details on it a few days ago. Chartz is banned here for a reason (I assume that's what you were quoting).

Blood Omen 2 was garbage and it should be remade ASAP to keep it in tone with the rest of the series.

BTW I'm hoping that if this is a reboot, it's a post blood omen 1 game. Taking place between BO and SR, with Kain already being king, the birth of Raziel and his brothers and the mythology expanded even more. Blood Omen 1 should be remade in a later prequel, but it's quite an ambitious game to modernize at the first try. If my memory serves me well it's like what, 30 hours long?

You're letting your dislike of the game color your sales analysis.

You can doubt the 3 mil (which I do too), but to suggest it's not even close to 1 million is silly.

I think for the PC digital market it has sold well enough to have done a decent chunk of units, and whatever they shipped at retail in combine would most likely have paid for the games production. I wouldn't call it the success Square saw with it but I am hoping they will take it as a valuable lesson on what makes Hitman great in the first place with the next instalment (which is still fine) and let them do what they want. With a Hitman film under way and already doing some marketing and releasing a title, they've got an easy second chance to turn things around.

The game did very well thanks to the marketing and discount they did here in the UK. They were crazy to try and release it along with Call of Duty and Halo though.

Also, here's a comment from one of those involved with the game:

"While I can't comment on sales, I don't think you'll have to worry about the future of the franchise. There will be more games coming out. Probably even ones you lot will like better than Absolution."

I'd like them to start off with us playing as Kain and being murdered. Starting from the beginning helps a lot with a story as convoluted as this one.

You have no way of knowing that. You're listing friggin chartz for christ's sake. SE would have said if it sold a million copies in less than 3 months but they didn't a few days ago. Not 1 word about Hitman at all, just sleeping dogs which was a decent success for them.

I'd take a full reboot. Go back to a RPG about new vampire trying for revenge in a dark world. Keep it simple, heavy emphasis on towns/villages instead of just a pure action game.

Not really that surprising, but still great news.

I'm a fan, but I can't see how they can introduce new players into this franchise without having to do a reboot.

Defiance wrapped up most of the previous story threads anyway.

IMO they could just sort of quasi-reboot it where they just ignore most of the previous convoluted backstory without going all the way back to him being human. Just use Kain and/or Raziel in a new unrelated story.

P.s.
Now bring back Fear Effect.

P.p.s.
Vae Victus.

A legacy of Kain game with no kain...

But the game was ridicously long and an update would be too taxing for a first try with modernized mechanics. It'd be better for them to beginf with a relatively easier story to stalish the characters and then make Bllood Omen a prequel later in the generation.
Most of us played Soul Reaver without having played Blood Omen first and we were fine.

We're just worried SE will screw this up like that and Tomb Raider.

I will still have to wait and see on Tomb Raider, I still have some kind of hope the game is not bad as it looks with how awful their marketing is.

Blood Omen wasn't long solely because of story reasons, it's also because of the kind of game it was. They're not going to make an isometric, dungeon crawler; I don't see how it would be any better to reboot with Raziel rather than Kane. Apart from liking one character over another, I suppose.

block puzzles.

Good lord I hated those. LoK games haven't always been known for their gameplay, so securing a solid writer is a complete must.

No. An ideal reboot SHOULD be with Kain, I mean, MUST, he's the front man, the big guy, the protagonist and the "pillar" of the story. I'm only saying that, reimagining blood omen, for example, as a 3D action adventure game, and paying respect to the original is too hard for a first attempt. It's too much lore, too much creative constraints. A game between BO and SR at the height (or just pre-height) of Kain's realm would be great because it could explore parts never seen before and would begin with already stablished characters and arquetipes.

Seeing the pre-wraith Raziel and his relationship with kain would be good too.

I wouldn't mind series reboot with Kain as a protagonist just like he was in the first Blood Omen, and introduce Raziel in the inevitable sequels.

I think a reboot should go something like this. Begin with Kain. Retell the original Blood Omen. Explore the time between Blood Omen and Soul Reaver (Blood Omen 2 should be skipped imo). Retell Soul Reaver 1&2 (perhaps start second, spin-off series with Raziel). Then retell Defiance and go from there.

I decided to buy the legacy games off of GOG and blood omen 2.

Thinking of getting blood omen 1 off PSN.

I have played a bit of Soul Reaver on Dreamcast but rather than dig that out I think i'll just re-buy for PC.

Corey Barlog is in charge of this, rumoured to be anyway. I'm still sceptical, I don't want a GOW game with LOK skins.

Please Square Enix, stop. I'm convinced that Deus Ex Human Revolution was a fluke and that you are incapable of actually doing any other old Eidos series justice.

I just had to go back and watch it again.

Someone explain to me why this is still so much better than virtually everything in gaming.

"I've seen the beginning and the end, however, and the tale is crude and ill-conceived. We must re-write the ending, you and I."

Good lord, what a fucking great line.

Soooo many good quotes, oh man. And the voice acting! Any new Legacy of Kain game is going to have very big shoes to fill.

Prediction: It's going to be a polarizing, bastardization of a reboot.

Unfortunately there's a reasonable chance of this being the case.

I also dont want a darksiders clone. puke.

Considering the series has been spread out between three different genres and doesn't have an identity, what would core fans want most? It has already been a Zelda clone, which is the same as the first Darksiders to an an extent.
