New Pokémon X & Y News Incoming

Any wait is a long wait. I only anticipate a few games a year, and rarely are any must buy for me. Monster Hunter and Pokemon are the only games this year for me that I know I'm going to pick up immediately.

Oh, well, in that case I suppose it is worse. My two most anticipated games are out in a week and a month respectively. :lol

And what else? NEW TYPES, Light is LONG overdue.

Question for you: what viable ideas for Pokémon could be categorized as "Light" type that couldn't be put into any other type?

I'll save you some time: One or two at most.

Plus Dark is "Evil-type" in Japan, so it wrecks the whole "duality" thing.

I'm sure they can make new Pokemon that'd fit, hell Light was a whole category in a couple of TCG sets along with Dark (like Light Dragonair and Dark Dragonair), I just think if any new type is introduced, it'd be it, what would you pick for a new one?

A new type means a new Pokemon type vying for space. Dragon/Ghost/Dark already get very little Pokemon each gen, and this would mean they would likely get less. And who knows how many Light would get. They'd also have to go through and change many old Pokemon to Light.

The only new type will be the ??? type.

But that's not a new type. ;)

Why would they retype any Pokemon? Only Magnemite and Magneton got retyped.

Because there are plenty of Pokemon who fit into the typing, like the Togepi line. What other Pokemon in Gen 1 fit into Dark or Steel typing?

Edit: And then how would Arceus be handled? He is the epitome of what Light type would encompass.

Yeah, but the "Light and Dark" TCG sets focused more on a "good vs. evil" motif rather than actual types.

I don't really think they need to introduce a new type, to be honest. Dark and Steel were mostly introduced to nerf Psychic, and there aren't any types who are in desperate need of the nerf bat right now. Add that to what I said before about no feasible Pokémon fitting into a brand new type, and it makes the entire idea pretty unlikely.

Who else will be playing this with 3D max setting all the time? HYPE!! 3D so real it will be like the Pokemon are right in front of me!!!!

Digital, Wood, Wind, let's go for those dual types.

Digital would convert Porygon but that's about it so it wouldn't be super hard, but it doesn't have any real characteristics, so it's kinda like Normal. Wood is covered by Grass which covers all plants so there's really no need for it, and Wind is covered by Flying, especially things like the Genie trio.

What about Rotom?

Im just hoping they announce a new pokedex and how many pokemon will be added to it for the regions X and Y are from. I love pokemon, but if it doesn't have a new pokedex of new pokemon to hunt for I lose all the joy of discovery which is 80% of the fun for me. I like collecting things and finding new pokemon more than just the grinding.

The smallest gen we have ever gotten is Gold/Silver/Crystal with 100 new Pokemon. I would be very surprised if we have less than that.

I'd like them to just work with the current types anyway. Create interesting and unique dual types that aren't just exclusive to legendaries. I really hate how all the experimentation in dual typing has only been on the new legendaries in the previous games (or at least, the dual types that would be cool to have on regular Pokemon).

They could do crazy stuff like Steel/Poison or Fire/Psychic (I'm aware of Darminatan's other form). Or stuff like Water/Poison. Dual types of lesser seen or used types... you know, so there's more prevalence of those moves in battles.

How cool would it be to see something like Ice/Psychic, Ice/Poison, or Ice/Bug?!

Note: I'm not thinking of weaknesses when talking about this, just the idea of more variety of dual types than the same ones we've been getting since Gen 2.

Victini is Fire/Psychic. Tentacruel and Qwilfish are Water/Poison. Jynx is Ice/Psychic.

Diamond/Pearl/Platinum felt a bit bare as well. I don't mind a few old Pokemon as long as it isn't the usual suspects (Zubat/Geodude etc..).

Although, the "over 100" terminology does concern me. "104 brand new Pokemon!!!" :(

I would much prefer a huge new generation like V, even if there were a bunch of old evos introduced.

tbqh the game is actually kind enough for letting you encounter a Zubat. They're actually pretty good.

Stuff like that would be really neat. I was thinking dual types like that would really spice things up for gameplay.

But sometimes you have to think if dual typing for the sake of having "uniqueness" is actually worth it.

Sometimes you'd end up having a shitty typing after all. Grass/Fire racks up many weaknesses iirc.

Pokewalker 3DSware using the 3DS pedometer?

I really hope they don't put like 20 legendaries again. The cover legendaries and a trio would be more than enough.
Don't forget event mon.

I honestly think 2 and 3 were the sweetspots.

Yeah, I know. It's just kind of frustrating though to have the same dual types introduced again, again, and again... and the new ones they come up with happen to be legendaries (Fire/Dragon... WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO CHARIZARD ><)

I understand why people don't like them, but I really love the in game lore surrounding legendaries, and DPPt & BW both had a lot of interesting stuff. But, they were too large a percentage of DPPts Pokedex.
