Ninja Gaiden 2+ |OT| The Feel of Ninja Gaiden 2

Think I'll end up grabbing this for Momiji; just wish there was a way to get the Gamestop costumes by buying it off PSN or somehting. ;_;

New screens show that the PS3 DLC costumes are in, bringing the costume count up to 6 per character.

Real shame they didn't make it so that you can go through all levels as all characters.

There is one shot (http://www.siliconera.com/postgallery/?p_gal=279289|15) that shows the bow button is a toggle between using the bow and running around normally.

I wonder how hard switching in mid game (when swarmed by enemies) is going to be - I'm thinking the
water dragon with the ghost fish specifically.

No white Ryu costume in the shots either (it was DLC/pre-order from NGS2) - I hope that made it into the final game...

Sweet, thanks for the link.

This "turbo mode" that you can unlock in Tag Mission mode sounds interesting.
It still bums me out that co-op seem removed. I'd even be fine with local co-op. :/

EDIT: Oh hey, we can see Ryu's face in the DOA costume.

EDIT2: Character model comparison time:

Wasn't the white Ryu costume included with the other 3 DLC costumes as a character pack? If those made it in, I'm sure the Hayabusa armor made it in too.

EDIT2: Character model comparison time:

I think all the fears everyone has about the graphical quality of the game is slightly justified. You can see noticeable jaggies in the Vita version. Hopefully in motion it's not as bad as some of the screen shots that have come out the last little while.

EDIT3:

Yep. Was a Gamestop exclusive (not even EB in Canada had it IIRC) that like 3 months later was available for 2.99 I believe.

I hope the Hayabusa armor is in the game - it's pretty badass.....but I am really looking forward to the DOA costume (and how you unlock it)....

You'll unlock it by paying $5 for it on PSN, like the rest of the new costumes.
Or so the little cynic in me believes
.

Also, updated the OP with the new information on Tag Mission mode.

Rachel's "Fiendish" costumes kind of disappoint me.
They could have gone further with the whole Fiend look and shown what she would actually look like as a Fiend, sort of like Ryu's Fiend costume.

I really hope you are wrong about the PSN unlock.....

Me too.

Pretty... pretty... pretty good

And all of the previous costumes (like the DLC costumes) seem to be in the game.

The only costumes I haven't seen pictures or video of are:

-Ayane's Dynasty Warriors outfit.
-Momiji's Dynasty Warriors outfit.
-Momiji's Dragon Sword outfit.
-Ryu's Dynasty Warriors outfit.
-Ryu's white Hayabusa Armor outfit

I wonder if they removed the touch screen feature to power up the ninpo, it was a pain in the ass in NGS+.

The Ninpo buildup didn't bother me that much but yes - I hope it's gone too. The Ninpo options were better overall in NGS2.

The one thing I really....REALLY hope they got rid of is the forced gyro aiming with the bow. I found that to be the bigger pain in the ass.

I will be curious to see how the reviews are for this port. I enjoyed Sigma plus (despite some shortcomings and terrible levels). I love the combat of the first game so since this is more faster paced and aggressive I think it will be perfect fit for me.

Decided to pre-order a copy today after watching that Japanese launch trailer and thinking "this game looks surprisingly good and I could go for more action games."

Looks good. Even at 30 FPS it will play better than NG3. Maybe Ninja Race mode is the dev team getting back to their skill based roots.

Still no conformation on the 60fps?

Its sink or swim time for this game.

Edit: So it is 30fps, bleh forget it.

Wait, it's confirmed somewhere?
Where?

If it's true, then I need to update the FAQ.

EDIT: Also, two more days till PORTABLE NINJATON
HYPE LEVELS RISING

I'm playing Ninja trials missions in NGS+, I have only "desperation missions" left, there's a survival mission, do I need to survive for some time or kill the monster ?

Survive for a set amount of time IIRC. You can kill the enemies too if that way is faster for you.

I am sort of slogging my way through the first game right now...really not feeling it. This game looks to be better. Doubt I'll Day 1, but I'll keep an eye on it.

Dream definitely seems to be over - someone posted on Gamefaqs some early impressions from HK:

- game runs in sub-native resolution
- no AA, jagged line everywhere
- stable 30+ FPS with 5-6 enemies on screen

- HK version has both Japanese and English voice, so it is safe to assume NA version will be the same too.
- Cutscenes are pre-rendered.
- Graphics seems to be a little worse than sigma+
- UT/ET/OT close up scenes have a blurry effect.
- No big problems with framerate. 30 fps is near constant.

Also some screenies here

No AA is a bit of a letdown after how nice the first one looks. I was until now of the opinion that maybe just the close ups had no AA. Still will be great to have this on portable.

Good, thanks.

Yeah, I think you have to survive for two minutes or so. Good luck!

Ouch, so no co-op and 30fps.
At least we get JP and ENG voiceovers.

Updating the OP now.

EDIT: Oh snap, white Hayabusa Armor outfit confirmed!

Finished all the missions except the last one "Eternal Legend", will do it tomorrow.
I finished all NGB missions before the release of NGII too. @@

Looked like it, still looks nice.

Was hoping it looked cleaner on the OLED.

Excellent.

Pre-rendered or just recordings or the PS3 version?

- Graphics seems to be a little worse than sigma+

Sub-native res and lack of AA will do that.

Excerrent.
