Whoa same here! I went in line 2 minutes before opening and no one else was there.

No one else at mine either. I was kind of worried there would be a line after reading about people getting there early on the east coast at CAG. So I made sure I got there early.

I sat in the car and waited though :lol. Too damn cold.

I honestly have no clue how hard these will be to get in the future, but I promised this as a gift and wanted to make sure I got one.

Limited stock translated to 1 for display. No way in hell I'm driving an hour to the other Targets.
I'd price match with Walmart in-store but I haven't ever seen them get Sunday releases.

So eBay it is.

Not getting this, but any GAFers in NJ: Clifton and Hackensack, NJ Target says "in stock" on the web site if you want to give them a call.

Settled on the pokenipple edition...

looks great in person, as close to having a white as NOA will let me (besides pink)

gonna dive into Luigi!

edit: I nabbed only pikachu XL and only copy of Luigis Mansion from Mount Laurel, NJ Target, cherry hill, NJ had none

I went and waiting for the store to open. Got two. I sold my girl's flame and Zelda model and got them two new Pikachu XLs. They will be happy!

Post pics of your systems people!

The fact that we're never getting white/black XLs has me wanting to repurchase an OG black 3DS or import a white LL to swap the shells. Is that crazy? Anyone have the same feeling?

I'm going to attempt a price match at WalMart in a couple of hours. Their corporate site claims you don't need the ad with you so we'll see how it goes.

An hour and a half after opening and it seems that all of my local Targets are sold out. Only a couple left say "limited stock."

Does Wal-Mart have these in-store?

Yes.

I only mentioned the print ad because it seemed like some people on CAG were having problems getting the pricematch without it, but I wish you the best of luck! Maybe show them the corporate policy with your phone. Godspeed.

Went to my local target and the guy in front of me got the last one :(

They did have the XL w/ mario kart pre installed though! Surprised to see that. Got it for the sale price.

To anyone looking for the Pikachu XL but not having any luck at Target or Walmart, Toys R' Us has it on sale for $180 and it comes with a $20 gift card.

This applies to all of the XL colors, as well. So if you planned on getting a game as well, this is just as good a deal.

Went earlier this morning to pick up mine! Grabbed 3D Land and Luigi's Mansion as well. Downloading Star Fox 64 3D now.

I would suggest returning that 3D land, unless you really wante a physical copy, because buying an XL and Luigi's Mansion gets you a free SM3DL from Club Nintendo right now.

Called my local Target and Walmart, they both don't have it in stock. The lady at Target said that they only receive 3 shipments a day, too.

I'll just get a blue XL and call it a day. If they eventually come out with a purple XL, I'm so jumping ship.

I lucked out. The first two guys purchased one each and the family in front of me wanted 2 and they only had one left. They decided to give it to me and try their luck at TRU. most Targets will have 1-3 on hand, which they're all probably gone by now.

I got two, one each for my daughters. My Target didn't even have them out on display. They assumed that it was to be sold Tuesday. I don't know how much they had in stock but i was first and i got two and the dude behind me got three...i assume a flipper.

I want to say between the both of us we probably cleaned out the stock listening to you guys talk about the stock issues.

I wonder if 3DS sales for this month will be greatly affected by this deal + Luigi, Pokemon, and easier to find Fire Emblem.

For anyone even considering this, get it if you have the chance! These things are selling out ridiculously fast. I got to my Target right at 8AM and there were still 3 other people ahead of me. Luckily one of them only wanted a pink and white one, but needless to say that Target was completely out of stock by 8:05.

Meh. I'll wait.

The 3DS library still looks disappointing.

The only game that I want to play is Super Mario Land 3DS, but I don't want to spend $200 just to play that.

Yes there is the buy one of those select games (e.g. Luigi's Mansion) and download that game for free.

I just pulled out my DS Lite last night to remind me why I do not like handhelds. Awkward screens. Poor button placement. Awful ergonomics.

I do like how the DS Lite has double digit battery life as it still could game an hour even though I had not played it nor charged it for over an year.

What are the odds that Nintendo will announce a nice hardware revision for the 3DS at E3 this year?

I would really hate to buy one now and then have that happen.

Maybe they would improve the screen or add that second analog stick.

Let's see what Nintendo did with the Nintendo DS for NA.

Original Nintendo DS: November 2004
DS Lite: June 2006
DSi: April 2009

Probably not likely. I think with the Japanese government's mandated inflation for Yen, some companies may want to up their sales forecast and keep their current prices to maximize profit margins.

My Pikmins are hard at work. Currently transferring data...

Will still be keeping my OG 3DS around though. I'm quite fond of it.

bomba my ass.

I went to Target at opening 8am this morning there was a line like black friday. Tons of people were turned away because they only wanted the Pikachu 3DS XL. I didn't. I just wanted the discounted Red 3DS XL and I am extremely happy with it. The data transfer was easy enough. The SD switch was a little annoying because I wanted to keep the 4GB SD card in the XL so I had to use my PC to do a data copy. I recommend upgrading if you are thinking about it.

Got mine at Toys R Us. Me and another dude ran for it to electronics since we saw 5 other people behind us. Turns out those people didn't come for it, lol.

Fair enough but times have changed...drastically for Nintendo and the gaming market as a whole in just the past 4-5 years.

Lets look at the 3DS release / price / revision history for, in my opinion, a better comparison:

February 26, 2011Nintendo 3DS first released.

July 28, 2011, Nintendo dropped price from US$249 to US$169.

July 28, 2012Nintendo 3DS XL was released.

Thats a major hardware revision about 16 months after the release of the 3DS. If you want to use history to predict hardware changes, that would put the next major change around Holiday 2013 with an announcement (if it happens) likely at E3 2013.

But again, who knows, they may not revise it for 3 years...

What would the next version be called?

Nintendo 3DS XLi?

I think it's too early for another revision unless they found a way to make the plastic cheaper.

I agree that it is too early for a revision. However, we now live in an era where mobile is eating away at these deidcated handhelds and a "new name" / revision (even if its only 3DS XLi) can help to drive and boost sales.

We'll see I guess.

Damn, I'm tempted. I don't know if I play mine enough to justify an upgrade, though. How do DS games look on that giant screen?

Picked up mine at Target, was too great of a deal to pass up. My local Walmart didn't get any in stock.

Already did the system transfer was able to re-download my ambassador status and games, which was great. The downside was my saves for those games didn't transfer over, so no more 100% complete file in Minish Cap.

First impressions, I love the huge screen! The 3D viewing angle seems better too IMO.
