And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
terrible interview

good footage though

as long as miyazaki don't touch this sucker, I'm sure it'll become a better game than DkS

Fucking cloth physics. FINALLY! That last bit on the bridge was awesome, just hope it's not one of those "cinematic" moments. It looked player controlled however.

Can't watch the video right now, but moving while using a bow is in? If so, enemies better be faster and more aggressive in this.

Enemies in the vid seem about the same as before, but the player is notably faster, which goes along with the director's comment in the Q&A that he wanted combat to stay largely the same but to also be more reactive.

I feel like the only person who misses Demon's Souls aesthetic. It was so dreary and lifeless and I loved it. Colors be damned, I want that feeling of venturing into 1-1 for the first time again.

speculation:
the extra boxes on the hud show what other items/spells you ahve equipped in those slots.

nice small change

Yeah I think I'm with those who are going to do a Souls Media Blackout. I liked what I saw, I'm not worried about it. I'll get as close as I can to the exploration I got from importing Demon's Souls and knowing jack shit.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Try the Youtube link fellow GAFfer.
There's no youtube link for that video yet, why are people replying before reading the whole conversation? It's an one minute actual trailer.

That second trailer on the Spanish IGN site is definately not supposed to be there, haha.

Awesome trailer though!

I'll link again, just in case:

Anyway, with firefox you can right click and save that video, it's a .mov. Almost done for me.

Edit: neat video, doesn't show much but it's cool.

I wasn't counting but was that like 8 deaths in 12 minutes? I like that a preview for this game shows the player dieing again and again.

You aren't. Nothing about these environments was even remotely foreboding.

I had the same problem with Dark Souls. Yah sure it looked "pretty" but Demon's Souls was very consistent in its tone and how overbearing and depressing and dead it felt and I loved it. Dark Souls felt a bit too "fantasy" to me (see: Seeth)

No, it really isn't a good warning. That alone doesn't communicate at all what the player should do, or even if you expect it WHICH WAY to go. Even if you expect it, is it a fire trail from the back, meaning book it forward, or is it going to be something you cautiously walk towards and book it backwards?

It was a lame move, and luckily the only thing like that in the game. Other traps detail it all, like the Sen's Fortress elevator being something you can examine and look up to see the spikes after noticing blood on the fllor.

The Sens stuff was all visual, much like the bridge. If you don't pay attention, Dark Souls will kill you. Pretty much what makes the games awesome. The moment you think you can run through an area because you have done it a 1000 times, is the time it kills you. :D

wait. in that chariot gif. could you run away while locked on in the first game? wouldnt you back away until you were too far to be locked on, then turn and run? i feel like the ability to run while locked on would have saved my cowardly ass several times.

It's a demo, so they probably had some debug stuff going on or a specially made character to show off the mechanics.

i was thinking the same thing actually. it seemed like maybe they just had damage turned off so they could show areas, but then he took some damage. probably just a really strong character. i dont want to make it seem like it dampened my enthusiasm, just something i wanted an explanation on.

Damage was all over the place. I don't think much of that was anywhere close to final. Same with the torch blocking thing.
Yup, agreed. Felt very off.
