Dark Souls II 12 minute gameplay video up [Update: 10 Minute Q&A Video]

They said as such in the interview that the monster probably wouldn't have busted through without the shot to the dome.

He also mentioned that other monsters would be doing some wall bustin', so hopefully there's other instances where its completely random and out of the blue.

If it's not completely scripted then wall busting has serious potential.

I did see one of those turtle guys break a pillar so it seems environmental destruction is in.

Destruction was in Dark Souls too, in a few places. Ornstein and Smough could destroy the pillars in their room. That part of the demo looked great, though.

I don't like that they're still going with the pseudo open world approach, but I should probably stop hoping for something more along the lines of Demon's Souls for the future at this point. Game looks like more Dark Souls, which is fine with me.

Nothing to worry about, this team seems to know what they are doing.

Being able to move while shooting from a bow is such a great addition.

but i thought that was possible already, just have it set up already and switch ingame

There were 2 quick equip slots per hand, and the weight of each item in those slots impacted your encumbrance. That character is wearing a knight armour equivalent, a shield on the off hand and 4 weapons to his right and is still rolling around with normal speed.

The cyclops wall breaking was triggered by the player when he hit it with an arrow.

Dark Souls has environmental destruction to some degree see Ornstein and Smough boss battle.

Edit: Beaten with the same example.

It has been already confirmed for PC since the official website went online. I want to know if this comes for next gen consoles too and if the PC version will take advantage of it. It lookes nice but you can see its visuals are held back by the current hardware.

Durante will save us!

Man I'm getting PUMPED and fucking ready for another Souls game, folks.

Looks better than Dark Souls, but it's going to stand out as a pretty unattractive game in 2014. From has really dropped the ball by not making this an early next gen game. Not just in terms of what they could have done with the game graphically, but by losing exposure and mindshare among early PS4 and NextBox adopters.

Well.... it's Dark Souls II... ;)

One of the best things they could add to Souls combat is backstab denial for most of the enemies. There's a bit of evidence of that in the vid but I wonder how far they went with it.

I wish they'd add a list of causes of death when you are dead. I want a nice juicy stat tracking system.

YOU ARE DEAD
.....Incineration x21

YOU ARE DEAD
.....Bludgeoning x20

YOU ARE DEAD
.....Great Fall x300

YOU ARE DEAD
.....Beheading x13

Seems like something I'd expect from a sequel, a bunch of awesome details.

Hope the level design stays as brilliant as it was in DeS and DkS I. Haven't seen too much of it in this gameplay video.

You could do it in Dragon's Dogma, so I'm not mad. lol. Though you had to manually aim in DD with no lock-on (unless you used a special one) so in DD it could effect your targeting and took skill. If this is lock-on for that then it could be kind of a bad thing. But I guess that's taking it too far. lol

It could be any number of things. Maybe you need to go get some item that repels the dragons, maybe you need to something similar to the Abyss DLC and shoot the dragons out of the sky, maybe you just need to time it right and sprint across.

what i noticed was that he switched to the healing stone right when that scene started, so he wouldn't attack, and must of died on purpose

my guess is that your suppose to probably fend em off while traversing the bridge. not quick enough you die.

The combat designer guy looked like he didn't want to be there at all lol.

If you're a Japanese game designer, and you look like you want to be there, then you're doing it wrong.

Outside of Kojima, he likes the attention.

And Miyamoto, he's always smiling.

Pros:
-Graphics look real good
-nice atmosphere
-great enemy designs
-cloth physics are nice
-Like the dragons theme
-Storytelling is remaining minimalistic
-movement seems faster a la demons souls
-HUD takes up less space
-Keymouths seems like a cool idea

Cons:
-walking animation looks weird
-animation seemed like it carried less weight (like with the sword)
-Those healing stones heal you real fast like grass
-Oppressive atmosphere is not really there imo but that could be just that level
-Enemies died real easily.

I am pleased but not totally hyped right now. Need to see a bit more.

This not being on PS4 means theres a chance that Miyazaki is working on Demons souls 2 for PS4......

Did From ever expressed interest in porting it to next-gen consoles?

I could see the potential of cross-gen here.

Strongly dislike what I'm seeing in the shorter second trailer. The world just looks boring.

The player looks OP for the levels. They pumped up his stats for the demo, I bet. His lifebar and magic bar is pretty long. They died in purpose for the video. I bet we'll dying a lot in the real game.

Do GAFfers believe that some sort of "reward" could exist in case they found you have played Dark Souls?

Some games to that, would be nice to see some reward to loyal fans.

Really love the feel and environments of these games....really hate trial and error gameplay, coupled with losing hours of work in the drop of a hat at any moment...sigh

It's like they throw all the genres I like into one game. Horror, adventure, mystery, it as it all. Hell I bet this will be more scary then Resi, more of an adventure game then UC, more survival then TR lol. They just put every western dev to shame.

Maybe you are thinking of a different game. That doesn't happen in Dark Souls.
