FIFA 14 Announced (360/PS3/PC, Vita?/PSP?)

Yes, fifa 14! These kits were getting stale. :p

And I'd like to agree with everyone that FIFA 14 on the nextbox/ps4 will probably be very similar to the ps3/360 versions. FIFA 15 will be the real next gen FIFA imo.

That will really hurt Nintendo if so. Considering FIFA 13 is on WiiU.

It certainly isn't a good look.

Though as I said, it brings up the problem with sports licenses; there's no doubt that a holder should 'forfeit' a particular format to another publisher for the year if they fail to properly support it. It would be a more democratic and productive system, and one that might also lead to better games...

Hopefully they spend longer than a week developing it.

FIFA 13 launched on PS2. Will FIFA 14? lol

Either it or PES 2014 will be the last release on the platform. If neither shows up it's the latest Final Fantasy XI expansion.

I think they will do a WiiU version. Well, I certainly hope they do.

Hmm, well PS2 was still popular in developing countries not so long ago. Is this still the case?

Sure the'll do the same as Fifa 13 PSV/Wii, same game as 12 with roster update...

Dunno. Sony discontinued production on PS2 for the start of 2013 so I can't imagine they'll be certifying PS2 software for much longer.

I'm pretty sure the PS2 version has been a roster update for years at this point, lol.

There are conditions attached to the FIFA license that EA are bound by.
EA are bound to stick it on Wii U if it reaches a certain market share of console. Those are the terms of their licence.
At what point do EA have to make such decisions? I.e. while in theory the Wii U has until Sept/Oct to gain an installed base - development is presumably well underway for FIFA 14. Do you know what kind of marketshare justifies a port?
I don't know. I just know that FIFA didn't like EA playing politics with the FIFpro licence last time with PS2/Dreamcast so they put the clause in when they renewed the licence. It might not meet the market share requirements tbh, and since EA/FIFA could count Wii U in the current generation it might never reach the requirement. If it considered next gen then FIFA 14 next gen should be in development right now along with the PS4/NXTBX version.
Internally, EA doesn't consider the Wii U the same generation of hardware as the PS4 and next XBOX, so that probably doesn't help.

FIFA 13 is my favorite/most played Wii U game despite its flaws.

14 has so much potential on the GamePad if they iron things here and there, and build the gameupon the twins version. It's the most important 3rd party title on any console as far as I'm concerned, so I sure hope there will be a Wii U version.

Of course, nothing's stopping them forever releasing FIFA 12 with a roster update, is it? It's been out twice on Vita and once so far on Wii U; neither format received the January transfer window update.

Or even the iOS version as a $20 eShop download!

Now you say it I wonder if the Wii U version didn't get it in a stealth fashion: I was playing it online yesterday after a month break, and PSG had Lucas. I'm 100% sure he wasn't part of my starting lineup a couple of months ago. I should have looked at it further and see if Beckham is there. I'll report this tonight.

Never downloaded a Creation Center team? Pretty hilarious, your save file gets corrupted and the game refuses to boot until you delete the team from your local save.

They never addressed with a patch either, lol. Never change, EA.

Thanks, that would be news to me.

The difference is the PS2 isn't a new system, nor is it as powerful as the Vita.

It won't be next-gen talk. How can they talk about Durango exclusivity when Durango doesn't exist!
Yeah sure man, FIFA is immensely popular on the PS platform, even more than on the Xbox.
I know it's sarcasm but come on, that doesn't even sound logical.

Here's hoping the PC version delivers, use dat extra power EA!

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
I'm sure there won't be a WiiU version, what I'm waiting for is how EA justifies no 3DS version.

</bitter>

If the market share thing talked earlier is true, I can't think there won't be a 3DS version. The real question is, you know, if they understand that it's obvious it can't sell WITHOUT ONLINE MODES.

Can't wait to continue the 20 minute halves me and my friend have been doing. Hopefully the Referees in this continue to make decisions in my favour.

Yep, teams have been updated (Nene was in the team before, the default team for Lyon i a new one, Bastos no more here...).

Can someone verify if this happened for Vita too? If Wii U SKU got updated, I think Vita's got too, but I'd like a confirmation.

To be honest if EA give FIFA on Wii U the same care as the Vita version (and FIFA 12.5 on Wii U suggests they will) then I think that says as much about their regard for the Wii U as not releasing it at all does.

I can believe the talk above about clauses relating to market share. Certain versions of FIFA feel like a concractual obligation and I can see the Wii U being one of them.

What they added to FIFA Wii U is really good and must come back. If what they kept out is now part of the package it will be an amazing version.

Waiting to see what Konami do with this alleged modified FOX engine PES first, but I was really happy with FIFA 13 on the PC once the Ultimate Team servers started working properly.

Great more focus on UT incoming.

Pretty much. There will be some lackluster improvements in offline season/career play but UT is where they get the most money from so it'll be the top priority.

I mostly hope for serious AI upgrades and a nice graphic bump, but that's probably something to expect from Fifa 15.

EA SPORTS FIFA 14 Captures the Emotion of Scoring Great Goals
Innovations Inspire Midfield Build Up And Rewarding Finishing

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) today unveiled innovations to the greatest sports game on the planet that will enable fans to experience the emotion of scoring great goals when playing EA SPORTS™ FIFA 14 on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system and PC.

Innovations to the franchise's award-winning* gameplay will make FIFA 14 the complete matchday experience, introducing features that inspire fans to build play through midfield, dictate the tempo of a match and create rewarding opportunities. Great matches are achieved through measured build up and incredible finishing. A new feature in FIFA 14 called Pure Shot and a brand-new ball physics system will transform shooting, making every shot attempt feel real, and when players connect with the perfect strike, feel exhilarating.

"FIFA 14 will play the way great matches are contested with build up through midfield, tension throughout the match as chances are created, and incredible finishing," said David Rutter, Executive Producer for FIFA 14. "Opportunities in FIFA 14 will be rewarding and great goals will look stunning."

Finishing has been transformed with Pure Shot so players have the intelligence to adjust their stride and approach angle to find the best position for hitting the back of the net. Well-hit balls feel more exhilarating and rewarding. New shot types include pure strikes, as well as off-balance and rushed shots. Plus, Real Ball Physics now determines the trajectories of balls, enabling players to kick the ball with force from distance, drill low rising shots with accuracy, and blast dipping or turbulent shots, just like real players.

Fans will be able to create rewarding build up to opportunities and have the tools to dictate the tempo of a match through four new features. Protect The Ball will enable players to fend-off and block defenders from the ball while dribbling at any speed, or out-muscle opponents for position before receiving the pass, then turn defenders to carve out opportunities. Teammate Intelligence has been improved on both sides of the ball. New decision-making logic delivers tighter, smarter marking and improved run tracking where defenders recognize opportunities to provide support and win back possession, while attacking players have new ways to outsmart their opponents by creating space for themselves, running along the backline and checking their pace. Major changes to ball control add new tools to win the midfield battles. Sprint Dribble Turns enable players to turn in every direction at sprint speed while preserving momentum, delivering the control and confidence to take on defenders one-on-one. Variable Dribble Touches introduces variety on touches when sprinting. Skilled players will have better touch and more control when sprinting with the ball.

In addition to innovations to gameplay, FIFA 14 is introducing a game-changing new way to play Career Mode. The Global Scouting Network brings the world of professional scouting to life. Players now develop and refine a scouting network and search for talent year-round. Scouts can evaluate players all over the world to uncover the attributes and traits of every player in the game, in preparation for the transfer windows. Plus, a new hub delivers easy navigation, fewer interruptions and live scouting reports.

FIFA 14 will deliver engaging online** features and live services that connect fans to the heartbeat of the sport—and to each other—through EA SPORTS Football Club, making FIFA 14 soccer's social network, where fans connect, compete and share with millions of others around the world. The game will also feature:

Changes to the wildly popular FIFA Ultimate Team
A new online Mode that will encourage social competition
Multiple new features and benefits to EA SPORTS Football Club, the live service that is the heartbeat of FIFA
Complete authenticity with more than 500 officially licensed clubs.
FIFA 14 is in development at EA Canada and will be available in stores world-wide this fall. Additional platforms will be revealed in the months ahead. The game has not yet been rated.
