Nice work, Man! Good one :)

This complete BS if core games don't buy these at launch they will tank. Consumers have in the past used their wallets to get things done. I am glad people did not have this attitude when they tried to shove divx down peoples throats. Core gamer spoke with their wallets for the Wii:U launch seemed to work pretty damn well to me. The core gamers also spoke with wallet during the PS3 launch and it seemed to put Sony's ass back in gear. The casuals are not going to spend 400 dollars on these machines day 1. It will be core gamers who will carry them at first if we speak with wallets like we did Wii:U/PS3 I bet that DRM is stripped damn fast.

One fewer sale won't change anything, it is only when people en masse don't buy a product because they genuinely don't want to that you see a result, or by boycots, i.e. telling people not to buy a product. When people say stop using twitter but vote with your wallet they are just trying to shut you up.

Guys dont forget the tumblr. As passionate as some of you are it would be great if publishers can read more real world examples and feedback.

Twitter tags can turn into white noise but real stories can leave a lasting impression on those who are interested.

Also, don't just talk about used games. Your ideas about always online DRM are probably as if not more important.

Modus, Maybe a title change with all 3 hashtags is best. Will that all fit?

Focused on Sony is good. It implies that gamers will speak with their wallets. Choosing the platform that actually seems more consumer friendly or conscious.

Hopefully Sony takes the bait.

As i said earlier, i think the reason it was so effective is that it was so fucused - it was just sending tweets about DRM/Used games to Sony execs and including #PS4NoDRM. I think this will only dilute the message.

But oh well.

m0dus I know you like Halo and everything but please don't kill the momentum here. If Sony caves, Microsoft won't be far behind.

C'mon. It's not about that. I understand the rationale behind keeping the hashtags, but I don't think cross-promotion dilutes anything as long as the overall message remains no DRM.

So to re-assess goals:
* = complete
- = incomplete

*Get Sony to notice
*Rally support and coverage
*Build pressure on Sony
-Sustain pressure on Sony until E3

Remember that Sony is on the fence and has yet to commit. Phil Spencer of Microsoft on the other hand said today that gamers would pick Xbox no matter what. To me, that's very telling of where we should focus our efforts, at least for now. I'm all for sending pressure Microsoft's way too, but it should not compromise the main goal of pressuring Sony, because we have the most chance of success with them.

Yea, I certainly disagree with the changes done by modus. Doesn't make any sense, however you spin it.

It makes plenty of sense. If you're anti-DRM you should be anti-DRM whether it's Sony or Microsoft that are pushing it.

FWIW I've tweeted.

[edit]And I think people are deluding themselves if they think that Sony caving would pressure MS into doing the same. You mean just like how Sony offering free online has made MS drop XBLG?

Yeah - not a massive fan of the title change.

Exactly.

Is Sony listening? Yes.

Is Microsoft listening? No.

I think the compromise thread title is good. It's good to keep using the same hashtags, because they have already started getting momentum. But drawing Xbox fans in by mentioning them in the title broadens the movement. And if we tweet some stuff to MS execs as well, that helps put some pressure on Microsoft and, best case scenario, both Sony and Microsoft drop DRM bullshit. Even though I'm mostly a Sony fan, I have tweeted some Microsoft executives as well :)

Regarding the tumblr, PS4nodrm website and especially Gofreak's letter site, I think it is better that they focus on PS4 only, for the reasons that Gofreak argued. But I would agree that it would be a good idea if someone were to start similar stuff for Microsoft, as well.

I'm so bitter and disappointed in gaming, advertising, and the undermining of consumer loyalty that I just don't even care anymore. This gen was the last one I will be all in on. I don't think I could be less excited for either console, especially the Xbox One though. Good luck to you guys that still care.

You sure, bro? I mean dude, bro? Dude? DUDE?

Get off your high horse man. I'll let that slide, but if you think my opinions reflect any kind of pro-Microsoft stance, you are sadly mistaken.

As I've said, the hash tags stay, but getting more people in the community to adopt the message can only strengthen it, not weaken it.

I think the issue is more that you took it on yourself to change it. Half a million views already, however many thousand tweets - inroads made into major outlets - and now CHANGE it? Sure you can argue it's inclusive - but it's being inclusive to people who were never part of the issue in the first place for the sake of it?

I personally believe Sony is waiting for MS to clearly define what their plans are in regards to DRM and then Sony will come out to further announce what are they upto. Currently, their silence on the matter tells nothing. Tweets from Sony executives gives hope but at least we know they are listening. Whereas MS has said nothing on the subject since 2 to 3 days, as they are still finalizing their policies.
