The Elder Scrolls V: Dragonborn |OT| Did you think you were the only one?

Totally get Dragonborn, I enjoyed it. The only issue I had with it was lack of powerful gear. I have full Daedric and didn't find anything worth using over it. Though crappy loot is an issue with Skyrim in general.

The first 30 hours or so where loot actually mattered/scaling worked were wonderful though.

So guys, is the Dragonborn expansion worth getting if I really like Skyrim and its 2 (well 1 really) other expansion? Is it just one small island that you go to or is it more? Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions. I haven't read so much about the expansion :O

Get it.

Why do you say this? There are other rumors that current gen consoles games will be ported to PS4 (such as Metro Last Light).
There's no history of them doing anything like this and it makes no sense for them to when Skyrim will be two years old by the time new consoles come out. They've already said their focus is on their next project, so wasting time and resources on a game everybody has already played really doesn't do them much good when they could be using it to create something new and exciting.

I suppose, but honestly I would think if they would do something like this they'd obviously contract it out...

I mean, it's not Jonathon Blow putting the Witness out for PS4...

This. Development on Skyrim is done. They're working on (presumably) Fallout 4 now. THAT will be on PS4. I don't see any reason why they'd put Skyrim there.

Must be the seasons (Winter here) or Game of Thrones, but I'm getting obsessed with Skyrim again. Just created a new "ultimate" character, a Dunmer spellsword who uses anything and everything. Currently running around in the Skaal armour that makes me look like a Wilding.

But anyway, I'm noticing a lot more freezes and lockups this time around (360 version). Might be Dragonborn, the new patch, or just putting a hell of a lot more hours into that I used to, not sure.

hehe, doing kinda the same. currently level 47 with my bosmer archer.
I already made sneaking "legendary" 2 times, currently trying to boost it a 3rd time. Its pretty fast, I just hit shadowmere with my deadric sword or whatever.

It seems that everytime you make a skill legendary, this skill becomes a littler harder to max out again. Can anybody confirm this?

Does somebody have any recommendations what is the fastest skill to level up? Any ideas?

That's a good question. There certainly was a market for all the HD remasters that Sony put out this generation...

True, but a huge chunk of Bethesda's audience plays on PC, not console, so that bleeds off the support; they got an HD version of the game already. I think the high-res texture packs are the main differences between the PC and console versions (aside from mods, of course). I'm sure there's some demand for a higher res Skyrim, but considering it's not yet two years old and all of Bethesda is focused on their next project, I just don't see it happening.

So for shits and gigs I made my Boy J'Zargo a blade.

I was not informed he would have that dumb armor on forever. Anyway to remove it?

I'm completely addicted again, too. And I've never played a game that can suck down hours like this. I'm already almost 80 hours in this new playthrough. I'm probably getting somewhat close the point of Skyrim's diminishing returns, but I haven't seen any Daedric equipment yet(level 32), so I've got some time. With the DLC and a ton of stuff I didn't do in Skyrim itself my first playthrough, the game feels very fresh.

Definitely remember why I had this my GOTY in 2011. And I cant wait for some Oculus Rift-supported goodness with Elder Scrolls(proper support, not some hacked in utility). Once the consumer version comes out, it'll be time for me to get a gaming PC together.

Also, playing on the 360, I'm noticing a fair amount of stuttering. I've had maybe 3 or 4 freezes over these 80 hours, so not too bad, but the stuttering is annoying. I'm hardly a graphics whore, but its pretty bothersome. I dont remember it being this bad before.

Last weekend got sucked straight back into this after a couple of months hiatus and loving every minute of it.

Re-rolled a Wood Elf focusing on Sneak/Archery/Alchemy/Enchanting and about Level 15 at the moment.

My old character used to be along the same lines there's something satisfying about sneaking around and sniping Bandits and such from so far away.

Though this morning I've started a new Orc with the focus going to be on One Handed/Blocking/Heavy Armour/Restoration Magic

Never tried close combat fighting but some of the kill-cams are brutal. Just worried what I'll be like up against Dragons....will they one-shot me if I'm too close?

My guy is level 45 I believe. I initially started him as a Jack of All Trades Nord, at least for the combat abilities. I was doing magic, archery, and one handed/blocking. But as time went on I sort of naturally fell into one playstyle.

I lost magic first, the spells weren't doing enough damage and magika drained fast.
Then I was equal parts archery and sword/shield, but the sneaking + archery just proved far too effective. I got these skills up to level 100 before any others. Then I focused on pimping out the wardrobe with archery boosting items. Was running with the Ancient Shrouded Cowl, Nightingale Armor (don't think chest pieces are available for archery bonuses and Nightingale looked boss. Shrouded boots for sneakiness, Gauntlet of the Old Gods, and Necklaces/Rings with archery boosts. Then I focused on getting conjuration up so I could rock the Bound Bow.

Now, I want my other skills to catch up so im focusing on magic now. It's imposisble to take down some of the higher enemies, but im doing fine against bandits and such.

Also, I'm downloading Dragonborn now.

Also, please tell me theres a way to get my follower out of his Blades Armor.

Destruction magic was pretty weak in this game, I felt. I never really felt like I could have it as my sole offensive capability. Seems that if you're not going to specialize in it, its pretty worthless.

Holy shit, for the love that is god, will anyone be able to help me? I have a serious case of modding woes.

Skyrim Version: Steam, 1.9.32.0
SKSE: 0.1.6.13, has the 1.9.32 DLL file. Copied both DLL's and exe in main directory.
BOSS program: Ran the program
TES5Edit: Edited the files BOSS said needed editing. No errors left and everything is able to load in this program

All mods were installed with NMM. All mods activated and in the plugin columns, all mods ticked. I launch skyrim directly from NMM using the "SKSE" exe.

I am able to start game, but only 3 mods seem to have loaded, found in the "Mod Configuration" when i pause the game. The mods are Sky UI, iHud and the bird one. I know for a fact that the other ones are not working because textures suck and i don't have the hair mod i downloaded. What could be causing the mods not to load? I have googled and tried a shit ton of fixes to no avail.

I already put "bEnableFileSelection=1" in the SkyrimPref and the plugins are clickable via launcher, but this shit just won't work!

If anyone has any idea as to how i could get this working i would much appreciate it >.<

From my limited knowledge, I think that's the problem. If I recall, Skyrim loads mods in sequence, and it it discovers one doesn't have the neccesary files, it might just stop and not load the rest. I could be horribly, horribly wrong, though.

I think a clean reinstall would be best.

Thanks for this. But i actually fixed it. I had to check the data integrity in steam. LOLOLOL. It downloaded 1 500kb file... Oh my god, how can the game start with missing files like that =(

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is free to try on Steam this weekend, and since everyone has been drawing comparisons between that and Skyrim, I decided to give it a shot.

First off, control-wise, I don't see something like it ever working with a game like Skyrim, at least not on consoles. I tried it out with a controller, and it uses the left trigger to block, and the other three shoulder buttons to deliver three different strokes with your weapon. Pretty hard to map that there when you have to juggle magic and other stuff on your controller, as well.

It does take a lot more skill than Elder Scrolls games combat does, which is cool. I was getting my ass kicked all the time, but when you manage to time it right and swing someone's head clean off their shoulders with a mace, it feels good. It's a lot more precise than what you do in Skyrim, i.e. swinging your sword and hitting stuff, not caring how you actually swing it. Blocking takes timing and skill, you need to pay attention to what your enemy is doing. It's pretty cool. I filmed some of it, I'll put it online tomorrow.

Im gonna try to learn 3DS Max over the next few weeks, so I can make some armor and/or weapon mods.
I can use Blender ok, so Im hoping using 3DS will be a natural transition.

Would any of you be interested in seeing me do a sort-of Let's Play about a console player's first time playing PC Skyrim? Because I'd love to try and do something like that. :p

What sort of mods? I dont think a console player is going to be as impressed as you think if its just a slight visual upgrade.

I've always toyed (and actually filmed a little) with the idea of going back to do a Lets play of Morrowind, to give people an idea of what started many of us on our Elder Scrolls journey, and let them see first hand the definitive game of the series (for me, personally). Alas, life gets in the way and there are plenty of other Morrowind play throughs on YouTube. I'd have to do something different, maybe a tresure hunting series. Never got tired of looking for new stuff.

But I'd watch it, BlueNinja. Would be nice to see how Skyrim plays on the PC from the perspective of someone that spent alot of time on the console version.

Yeah, I'd only do like, one episode per week, since I still have a life outside videogames. But I've always wanted to do something with my voice, might as well start here. The thing is, of course, finding an audience. There's so many people doing similar stuff out there, it's insane. Some of them get crazy numbers, some deserved, some not. Maybe I will, too, but I probably won't. Once I get the first episode going, I'll let you know.

Just got Legendary Edition for PS3 (originally played on Xbox, but my Xbox died). Playing a Khajit stealth archer/assassin. Haven't played since all these patches and DLC came out. What's the best way to level smithing now that they patched out the old steel dagger exploit? Also, what's the best level/gear to start the DLCs with, I'd like to head off and do those as soon as possible.

It's been a bit, but I'd probably recommend the following:

Resist Magic and Fire Damage Weapons for Dawnguard.
The best armor you can find, health potions and lots and lots and lots of arrows for Dragonborn.

Finally, all the iron (and butter) you can find for Hearthfire. That stuff is worth more than gold!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the increase to the smithing skill now depends on the value of the item you smithed, or the value of the improvement made. I took to echnating the gear I found on my quests, then improving it, and focusing on making the most expensive gear I could when smithing new stuff. I never did the grinding thing with daggers and such, so doing some smithing in between quests when I was selling my loot kept smithing rising in tandem with my overall level.

Got my PC Legendary Edition, and have been trying out several mods already. I'm not sold on the look of the SkyRealism ENB yet (the sky's way too dark, though it doesn't look like that in any of the videos and screenshots), I might try some others. Also couldn't get Dual Sheaths and its accompanying animations to work correctly, but I'll figure that out eventually.

All in all, I'm pretty amazed at how fluently I've gotten the other mods up and running. The mod community really did an amazing job in creating tools that even complete newbies can use. I even had a few "oh wow"-moments already, like when I noticed the new water shader I installed. Shit, I was giggling like a little girl when I stepped underneath a roof and the rain didn't fall through it.

Does your follower eventually return if you lose them? Lydia is always getting lost but when i fast travel she shows back up. This time it's not working. The last time i saw her she was following behind me up a hill then when i turned around she was gone. Usually that means she took another direction or she's just going to load at my location. But nothing.

I hope i didn't lose her. She carrying so much stuff.

Well either she is "lost", the game bugged and she fell through the ground or she is dead :/
