No Pacman, and no Megaman in Smash Bros please. I'm sorry, but they would just not work right/fit in in my eyes.

Tired of seeing these characters requested. I know I'm probably the minority here but hey, just my opinion.

Do you guys think it will have a full single player campaign like Brawl did? I really enjoyed Subspace Emissary I like how it was like a platforming game by itself.

Bleugh I'd rather they scrap SE and put that effort into making even more characters instead. With all of the designs/animations they created for the billions of enemies, they could've made at least a few full-fledged new characters to actually play.

I'll enjoy it if they don't nerf the characters' running speeds.

Making the stickers actually do something would be nice too. I mostly bothered with the ones that gave me items.

By ripping off Omegamon but instead of WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon you use Darkdramon and BanchoLeomon!

BanchoLeomon's head should never be a hand.

Or anything else, for that matter.
Darkdramon pulls off the look pretty well though
Before Brawl came out, I wanted a single player mode like that because of Kirby Superstar. I didn't SSE as much as I thought I would have, but it's not like I think it can't be fixed either. I'd like to see it return.

I'M FINISHED!

Um exCUSE me Sakurai but CLEARLY the best choice for Smash Bros would be my fav niche character HOWEVER you are clearly INCOMPETENT and
But Marshall Law controls just like a Smash Bros. character

But Pac-Man gobbles dots...

I forgot about Dig-Dug. Imagining his grappling throws makes me want this character most out of their line-up! With a Mr. Driller assist trophy!

I am hoping this partnership with Namco will lead to it's release sooner rather than later. It's just so obvious.

Hard to believe Mega Man not fitting into the roster. The moveset from his own games is already near-perfect for SSB.

You know another franchise with a lot history megaman. You being in some good games back in the day does not make people care about you now, the megaman franchise along with the pac man franchise has learned this. But unlike megaman who could bring some type of hype to this, pac man would bring none.

he would just be there.

People care about Megaman, it's Capcom that does not. Don't start mixing things up now. Pac-man doesn't bring in some gigantic hype, hell Snake didn't bring hype from me he technically doesn't even fit in with smash and only got in through Kojima and Sakurai's friendship he was a really random inclusion, Pac-man brings in history which is what Smash is about. Sure it's more about Nintendo's history, but he's still a classic icon and is millions of times better than a bunch of other suggestions I've seen here. Like Sora, Neku, and the goddamn fucking duck hunting dog. Jesus christ.

I liked SSE but if they're going to do it again, they need to draw more from the Nintendo worlds featured in the game for enemies in place of those Kingdom Hearts rejects.

"PACMAN?! I've always wanted to play as him in a fighting game!!!"
Said no one, ever

Being iconic isn't simply enough. If there's nothing interesting or cool about possibly fighting as the character then who cares?

My third party choices:

Konami: Snake (followed by Django... followed by Dracula)
Ubisoft: Rayman
Square: Crono (followed by Lightning >:) )
Capcom: MegaMan (followed by Viewtiful Joe and Ameratsu)
Sega: Sonic
Namco: Pacman is obligatory, but I'd prefer Lloyd

I bet Sonic is the only one of those that gets in.

I see Megaman as a Nintendo character in disguise. Unfortunately, the folks over at Capcom said that they have no idea what to do with him. I really think they should partner up with Nintendo for his revival.

Captain Falcon? The guy who drives a racing car and before Smash 64 had basically no personality whatsoever. I TOTALLY WANT HIM IN A FIGHTER. Said no one, ever.

The exclusive Resident Evil 2 wiimake coming to U means cutting Snake and replacing him with Leon S. Kennedy makes a lot of sense. tee-hee.

Because so many said it about Mr. Game & Watch, Olimar, Ice Climbers, Fox and Falco, etc.

The 3DS remake of Metal Gear Ghost Babel means we'll have both.

I think Sonic is at home on Nintendo systems. Would like to see him become a series regular.

No, but if you wanna hear that explanation pm me.

That would be divulging way off topic, but the short version, kids do not give a crap about megaman. And that is who should give a crap about megaman the most.

On the topic at hand.

Pac-Man can bring all the history he wants, he is still boring and I do not see anyone caring.

I know it's a bit off topic, but I do agree with that. Capcom basically had the franchise make new series to appeal to each new generation of kids (like Gundam). Now that we've had nothing new lately, it's going to play off mostly as nostalgia for previous generations of MM fans (which can still work). Every series after BN, failed to capture a new audience successfully.

Ryu is an awful piece of shit character. Just about the most boring character ever conceived.

Haahahahahaha alright bud. Guess the shitstorm that came from the MM legends cancellation and his inexcusable absence from MvsC3, to which also raised another shit storm, means nobody gives a shit about him. I mean I know Capcom doesn't, even though he's supposedly their mascot, but a lot of people still do. Also, it's not only up to the kids. You think kids gave a shit about Game&Watch? Rob? Ice Climbers? C'mon now.

EDIT: Look, I love F-zero. I'm one of those guys begging for a new entry in the franchise. But let's not pretend that Captain Falcon was ever really relevant outside of his machine. Yeah there's a comic, there's even a board game, but even with that it's not like people were dying to have him as a playable character in the first smash. Sakurai had to make up his moves from zero.

Hadouken excites my nipples, Blue Robo Boy is currently in Capcom's attic collecting dust and cobwebs, which is exciting no one.

I love F-Zero too, but the point is that arguing about "personalities" on crossover franchise mostly made by silent protagonist its kind of pointless. That comic alone gave falcon more personality than the likes of Mario, Link or Kirby had. I get the point of his moveset though.

Of all the shotos you could have picked you chose the worst one man. Even Akuma is better than Ryu's boring ass.

Yeah, but Akuma isn't the face of the company.

While yes quite a few people did were pissed off about that. What I am arguing is that megaman nor pacman don't have as much star power as you think they do.

It goes like this

There are the people who grew up with them who do not care about them anymore

There are the people who are younger who don't care

and then there the people who grew up with them and still care.

People grew up and stopped playing those games, and namco and capcom ( to an extent because exe was popular with kids for a while) didn't make any effort to market them to children efficiently. They both fell off, dont feel bad this happened to alot of franchises especially in the early 2000's and late 90's.

The 3rd party has to be someone who brings hype to a game, who would attract new customers.

Namco just didn't know what to do with Pac-man just like how they don't know now, doesn't mean he doesn't have worldwide appeal and recognition. As for Megaman, Capcom gave up on the franchise because they have some bullshit expectations and because it's just a generally awful company to begin with. The game isn't built on flash, if it was like that then get some generic asshole from call of duty, the dude from assassins creed, and Shepard to draw in "hype". It's not what they care about, at least not solely, they care about characters who could actually add something, are recognizable, make sense to some degree, fit in with the style of smash, and most of the time the characters introduced need some sort of history with the company. All of which both of them have.

New Sakurai Tweet:

続々とゲーム業界関係者がE3に向かっていますな。私もきょう出発。いま成田エクスプレス待ちデス。

Says something about E3, what is it, what is it?

Trying to decipher the Google Translate, it's something like:

Game industry from North America started moving towards E3. I'm doing the same now, taking the Narita Express.

So he's probably taking a train towards the airport.
